Miscellaneous questions and chatter goes here. If it doesn't seem to fit anywhere, put it here.

Thanks for having me! At last, Dungeon World! I discovered DW last year, just before I found and joined GP. I love this game system! I participated in a couple of tabletop one-shots and campaigns as the Fighter and Paladin, and also one via Twitter as the Druid. I'm thinking bard for this one. :-)

I have been trying to play an Powered by the Apocalypse game.. It has never worked out, so I'm just going to run it. As far as class choice, I don't think there is a bad one, it just comes down to play style. I love spellcasters, so fighters and rogues are my least favorite.

Tabletop gaming has become impossible for me because of my work schedule, and the Twitter game didn't work out either because of the timezone differences (I am in Manila, a +8:00 timezone). So GP has become the one and only RPG outlet keeping me sane. I've absolutely loved every class I've tried (I am familiar with only the core classes).

I applied for the last Dungeon World game on GP...right before the GM disappeared last August.

So I'm very excited to play this; it's made me nostalgic for "HoL," which has a very similar system concept. I've also been listening to the One Shot podcast of "Urban Shadows," so I feel even more prepared for the system...not that it's all that complex.

Yeah, I was looking forward to that game too.

And I also am listening to One Shot's Urban Shadows game. My media consumption is way down, but I'll finish eventually. If I had known it was about to be released I might have held off and bought that game instead, but I didn't research enough and had some extra money burning a hole in my pocket. Maybe when my birthday rolls around I'll pick that up.

Ok, I have started the story forum with Scene 1: Welcome to Woodhearth. I know not all the Bonds are finished but we have a so I think its time we get started. Feel free to discuss them still in the character creation thread.

On hindsight maybe I should have sent Foolsmask a secret note and then he could have given me the fact in secret as well, so I could RP Elestren telling everyone the tale. Now it seems kinda dumb for me to basically just repeat what the GM posted. What do you guys think?

Do it anyway, and put some bardic flair into it :)

"In the days of yore..." and so on lol

I say do it anyway. Feel free to fill in the gaps I left. Why did Ulstrum make that decree? Is Woodhearth his true birthplace? You have free rein to make up details as long as they don't contradict the established details. The gates are closed and these people claim to be tied to this great hero. After that its all in the air.

Also this way if someone else has an idea, they can offer it to you and you can still make it part of your character's knowledge.

Works for me. Thanks! :-) For now though I'll just leave things the way they are. How will the locals respond to Elestren?

By the way, how do you want to do this? DW says the fiction must come first and it's up to the GM to decide when a move has been triggered. That works great at the table but might be too slow in PbP. So do we go ahead and roll when we think our fiction is triggering a move? Or do we wait for you to prompt us like in a real life game?
Feb 19, 2016 8:50 pm
Good question. What I will say is that yes, state your reason for rolling and what move you think is best, but if I disagree, or more likely think the move is unnecessary we will ignore the result and just continue. If I think the move isn't needed it most likely means I was gong to give you what you want or something similar to it anyway, as part of the narrative.

Please forgive my crappy verse! I have never written poetry in my life! Writing that up just now scared the heck out of me, to be honest!
Feb 23, 2016 4:01 pm
LOL!, I haven't even read it yet, but I assure you, knowing that you made an attempt at poetry has earned you my respect. I would react the same way.

Creative endeavors like that are not my forte either. That said, it sounded good to me!

Which is why I have never in my 30 years of gaming played a bard! :-D

What is a Corazzeri? And do I know this man's name?

Edited my last post a bit to make it a little less passive.
Mar 2, 2016 7:31 pm
Crap...sorry. I had a definition in there and then I changed my mind about how to tell you what I told you and forgot to reinsert the meaning.

A Corazzeri is a "captain of the guard" for the Ahsh'hio. Everyone in that tribe who can fight is expected to be ready to pick up a weapon if need be, but they have other "normal" duties like tending livestock or hunting & gathering. This guy's job though was to guard the tribes leader, and general security for the tribe. There may have been other men under him, but he was the head guy, at least last time you saw him.

You may know more, I leave that to you to decide. As long as your details don't contradict what little we've established they are fine and I will work them into the plot.

Is Alexander the only one who recognized Captain Meljora as being from Sharaq? I wonder if Elestren would know anything about the desert tribes, even from songs and stories?
Mar 10, 2016 5:11 am
Do you think Elestren visited the sultan's land? I would say that Elestren might have noticed the brief expression of recognition from Alexander. You could try to trigger a Charming and Open check.

I also fully believe a bard would have heard stories. You also chose Legends of Heroes Past as your Bardic Lore.

Up to you how to proceed.

Going to step out of the game for now to save space on my forum list. Please re-invite me if it gets started back up.

Me to: I'm clicking "Leave Game" now but if there should ever be a continuation of this story, Elestren and I would very much like to be part of it. Cheers!
