The dinner continues with Kezzel asking some questions about the groups recent travels and how things were going back in the regions from whence they came. The dinner however eventually wound down to a close and Kezzel thanked them for the wondrous meal and their most pleasant company. "Well there are things to get done, so I must excuse myself. Do not worry about the table it will be taken care of. Come and bring the ax," he motioned Lex to follow, "we have much to do." He moved over to a shelf contain numerous jars and began pointing at some of them and over to and empty-ish table where upon they seemed to just float off the shelves of their own accord and settle upon the table which was in the process of clearing itself. Kezzel stared at the ax for a bit as if in thought, cast a spell unfamiliar to Lex and eight runes appeared in blue upon the ax head. Kezzel asked Lex if he saw it but Lex was not sure what he meant, then Kezzel explained, the red tint at the edges of the runes. With the explanation and a closer examination Lex could indeed perceive that nearly imperceptible thin red tinge at the edges of the blue. Kezzel explained that the red tinge along with eight symbols meant some kind of dark chaos magic had been infused into the normal magic associated with the weapon. This meant trying to figure out what the blade was about would take much more time and cautious investigation as sometimes these things had traps woven into them as well. Still there were a few things they might be able to establish safely. However, one of them needed to get started on the bee bombs, so Kezzel lead Lex over to yet another table and instructed him to start reducing these bags of herbs (Thuja Leaves and Deadnettle) which came floating up along with a pair cauldrons filled with water. Kezzel instructed him to be sure to stir them periodically. He was also told that in between stirring Kezzel wanted him to powder this stone (Trona Ore) which also floated up along with a small hammer and a mortar and pestle. Then Kezzel went back to working with the ax but returned occasionally to check on Lex's progress. Everything is concluded by late evening and Kezzel places a vial of clear liquid into a flask filled with five equally combined powders. The three that Lex produced and two others that Kezzel supplied that were thoroughly blended and then a sixth a white crystalline powder that Kezzel called Demon Crystals which he blended a small measure (about 3oz) of into the five powders by carefully and slowly stirring it using a glass stick.
Once all the work was completed Kezzel handed the two flasks to Lex along with the ax stating that Lex should tell Brindel that if he was sure he wanted to activate the magic within the ax his first step would be to kill undead and demons with it. For once it had absorb enough of their essence the first rune will have turned completely blue. At this point the opening or releasing will have been completed and this and several days would allow Kezzel to get a better reading on what would need to be done next.
