The lantern swayed rhythmically illuminating the deck against the moonless dark. The bell rang the time as the expected call of ?All?s well? echoed off into the void punctuated by the lapping as the waves gently broke across the bow.
A slight beam breeze covered the skiffle as men rolled over the side, blades leaping to their hands. The cutter, now grappled out of sight of the now invaded ship let of a shot into the night and the deck erupted into frenzied screams of excitement and pain.
Beat to quarters is a Historical-Fiction naval RPG in the vein of Master and Commander or Horatio Hornblower. Players take the part of the crew of a naval ship (typically British), and work together to accomplish personal and naval missions.
Beat to quarters is somewhat more narrative than other games and gives players a lot of freedoms to build the story together.
One note, this is set some 50-100 years after the golden age of piracy so there will be much different from a certain series starring Johnny Depp.
