"Well we got a young girl to get out of here... I saw we get word of this by letter to the incompetent guy in charge after we spread the rumor of what has happened through stabby and co..." Ataan states before checking the girl to see if she's okay medically and mentally, "Well that was pretty scary any ideas who we can take you to?"

The girl is catatonic. You do recall that there was no sign of the child in the murder house that lead you here.

Cecily watches Ataan try to wrestle information from the girl. "She is unconscious Ataan. We need to find a hospice and find out if there is a reason for her condition; the very fact she isn't dead is a miracle. We should probably burn the rat as well."

"Well she's likely fainted after seeing what happened to her family plus the murder was a large animal that predated that should be smaller… I think we should cut off it's head and take it to the town official."

With one of you carrying the child, the rat is too large to move easily, but the warning of the witch's blood tells you it must be burned. Using rope you'll need to discard later, you drag it to the ladder up. The townsfolk quickly discover what has happened to take the girl, old women and young alike fussing over her and keeping her warm. The strong among them help you haul the beast from the depths of the sewer, and the gasps and screams are immediately followed by the realization of who, or what, the killer was. The head is carved off and the rest burned, the ashes to be scattered out to sea. The head will also be similarly treated but only after everyone has had their look.

Your names are requested, and an impromptu party starts in the streets. More people are drawn in and you find yourselves lent clothes while yours are thoroughly laundered from the sewer effluvia, and you are washed and pampered in a wholesome way of course. You are fed and feasted, with an endless supply of beer flowing around you. Dancing may be a sin to some, but for your parts, the festival is simply good times celebrated by honest folks.

The old magistrate makes an appearance, and grants you a full pardon for his "hasty accusation", very nearly but not quite an apology.

You are heroes in Hamburg.
