House Ala is - and has been for generations - nearly synonymous with the Gaplands. This is no surprise, since they control nearly a third of the region. They've recently had their viceroyship revoked after a massive scandal that left their coffers nearly dry, but they are probably large enough to weather the storm. Getting back into the king's good graces is an entirely different matter.

House Borovopos lends itself out as mercenaries. Most of it's land is dedicated to training and support infrastructure. They run a profit, but only just, and they're out of their land so much that they haven't realized their overreliance on terrain.

House Gasharde is a merchant house, and is a new arrival in the North Coast. They supplanted the former House, Hashid by undercutting every single one of their deals for five years. Their purses are only half as big as they were, but they hope to have them full again soon.

House Gundukzar is named after the city they inherited, not after a family. Gundukzar was the last great bastion of the dwarves, and there was much wealth still left when man arrived to plunder it. Sadly, years of upkeep and recruitment to get men to live where they were never meant to be comfortable has meant the coffers of Gundukzar are much smaller than they used to be.

House Halas has a small army for its size, but they also have a relation to the King in their family, so they feel rather safe relying on the King to protect them as they build strength.

House Irave are true northerners. They eschew any personal gain in order to stand ready for any invasion. Both their defenses and their armies are nearly unmatched.

House Kirad's balanced and planned approach to expansion has brought them this far, but it may be reaching its limit. They've failed to keep attention at court, and although their military is strong, it's believed to be bleeding the people dry.

House Rayes is rebuilding after the last ascension war. They're both hurting for workers and for defenses. Still, they field one of the better armies of Scymira and have deep pockets.
