Character Creation...

First off here’s the character creation section of the main rules.
Character Generation...

These are the pre-generated character archetypes, you don’t have to go with one of these but you can if you wish, try to stay away from anything you wouldn’t find on Earth, Lizardmen and the Martians near the end are the main things I’d like you to avoid.
Archetypes...

And finally a blank Excel character sheet to play with.
Character Sheet...

Come up with a quick, couple paragraphs, character idea and we can work things out from there. Keep in mind, Victorian era, so lords and ladies are a real thing and social class can open or close doors to you. Lady Arabella d’Winter is just as unlikely to be seen hanging about the back alleys of Whitechapel as Tommy Jones the Welsh coal miner is to be found rubbing elbows in Westminster.

If you wish to self generate, ask me questions the package you’ll start with is as follows.
Quote:
Promising
These are the ‘normal’ starting characters for Space: 1889 – ordinary humans, Martians, or Venusians who are one or two steps ahead of the average person. The archetype character examples are created on this basis.
Attribute points: 15 (rank max. 6)
Talents and Resources: 3 Resources and/or Talents
Skill points: 15 (rank max. 5)
Starting experience: 15
Becoming a Lord or Lady requires purchasing it as a Resource. Lords and Ladies typically have butlers, for the gents, or a maid servant, for the Ladies.

The archetypes link isn't working

Try it now. Had the https in there twice.

Late to the Party literally, what's everyone playing? Need to look over the handouts and didn't want to be V2 of someone else's concept.

I don't know for certain, but I'm leaning towards either a Xeno-Archeologist or some type of Businessman type.

I am thinking of an Exiled Patriot archetype. Half french-canadian, half mexican, Descended of a French Canadian that was hanged after the Patriot's war of 1837-38. He grown up hearing story of how Imperialism destroyed his family in two different cultures.
Not sure yet about the stats, but probably going for the reformist flaw.

Look and see if the Riel / Red River Rebellion happened in 1869-70. You could be one of Riel’s men or women. I have this thought in my head it might have changed though.
Quote:
After his Red River Rebellion of the Métis people failed,
Louis Riel flees from Canada to France, where he helps to
establish the Commune.
There it is.

Depends, what year are we gonna be starting at exactly?

I built a young business tycoon, not sure as to what sort of business yet, but I think airship/Ether-shipbuilding. Cha-focused talker/wheeler and dealer, wealthy and wants to become the foremost shipbuilding company out there, fame/fortune sort of thing.

So your reason for heading to San Francisco would be something along the lines of attending the international organization of inventors annual symposium. Find fresh talent and new ideas.

Yep, ways to get ahead of the competition, new tech/people to invest in that might give my company an edge.

If the story happen in 1889, someone who participated in the Red River Rebellion would be 35-40 years. I was aiming for a less seasoned character because of my unfamiliarness with the setting.

The story will begin in sort of Oct / Nov 1888.

Airships and Aetherfliers are built, almost exclusively by either the British or the Germans, everyone else poaches talent for one off designs. The British and German governments hold on to their engineers jealously. I do like the idea of a new money tycoon type, perhaps a distant relative of a Carnegie or a Rockefeller.

You can make your own character @Remnant, I’ve given you just enough information to be dangerous.

@TheVagrant, you could have been a child or the offspring of someone who fled. It’s your character, I’m just tossing out idea as they appear in my head, feel free to ignore me.

@Tower_Sheild is "Diplomacy (Negotiation) 3 8" an indication you’re spending xps to improve it? Trying to work around it in my brain. Ah I get it, the 3 is the skill points and the 8 is the skill carried out.

I show you still having 1 skill point remaining and overspending attributes by 1, unless I’m not seeing something... which is possible.

Got it, charismatic +1 charisma.

Question about Jack of all trade talent

If an untrained skill test gets 4 or more dice with the talent, does it count as skill rating 4+ for skill synergy purpose?
