The Stolen Candle - Chapter 2

"Dav is dead. We find Dav-killer and kill Dav-killer dead, too!"

The others chant, "Dav-killer, Dav-killer!"

The D-bees are restless, their courage returning, dangerous glints from their eyes and their weapons 'neath whitening knuckles.

Tipolei messages the team by radio,
Tipolei find other tracks. They go away from town...

"What kind of tracks, Tip?" Ben asks, while keeping an eye on the suddenly restless D-bees. "Vehicles, human, D-bee? Are there a lot of them?"

"So where is Dav?" Kai states again his front claw scratching the ground.

I thought I had trouble focusing...

"Dead. Gone." The dbees are looking ready to act.

Chay taps Echo's steering wheel and asks while trying to hide his impatience, So should I try the slow approach and see how they react or should we stay put and see what info Kai gets.

To Tipolei it looks like this whole group of dbees came to this box canyon from somewhere to the south. A few tracks go back the other way, but not nearly as many.

"Okay so you lost the body too? Also what's this killer look like?" Kai asks wondering if all ugly humans are like this or if he's just too advanced for his age.

Are any of the other members of the team visible?

"Like him!" The dbee says, pointing at Ben. "With red hair!"

Kyron is in the passenger seat in Echo.

Hearing the answer, and being implicated in the response, Ben is visibly confused, but his alarm recedes a bit when he hears the, " but with red hair."

"Okay I guess I have someone to look for... unless you have something from him." Kai states once done he'll move over to the rest, "So the ugly humans found out one of their people that left the pool of blood was Dav, and they were killed by a not ugly human with red hair, so someone taller then them with red hair and something to put a hole in a person with that would make a lot of blood leak out."

As Kai moves off the D-Bees grab their stuff and skedaddle, moving quickly along the older path to the south, away from Cartouche.

They pass relatively near Tipolei but are concentrating so much on the dragon and then Echo when they see it, that they don't spot him hiding.

"Hmmmm interesting beings. I would normally say they seem skitish but then Dragons tend to make people that way." Still he took some pictures to add to the Legions information.

"Shall we proceed down the other path then, or continue after these other D-bees quietly?" Ben asks. Watching the smallish beings wander away, Ben suggests the other path might be for the best. "I think we should examine the alternative path. It might not be as fresh, but I have a hard time believing these small drifters have been giving Cartouche much trouble. Agreed?"

Tipolei agree with Ben.
