The Stolen Candle - Chapter 2

The coalbalds grab their things and begin to funnel south (away from Cartouche). This is no ordinary flight, but a panicking, trampling, screaming riot of ruining for their very lives. The coalbald leader stabs calmly in the middle attempting to maintain calm and composure, much like conducting a symphony in a burning building.

When he's the last one standing, he looks around, straightens his tunic, says, "Right then," and flees at full tilt.

"Anyone know what he meant about a stealable candle? Is it shiny?" Kai asks after landing.

Notice checks from everyone please.

What about a candle? Is it a threat or a boon to us I wonder?

This isn't about danger, or stealth, or small or hearing or psychic, but Tipolei succeeds with a raise, so:

So Tipolei had seen that the DBees have a red-headed human woman captive as they make there flight from the area. Let's assume he has passed this on to the rest of you.

Did you want to just make sure they leave, or did you want to do something else?

"Oh I'll go get the lady then..." Kai explains and flies away to snatch a lady up.

She was bound, I think we must help her...

Kyron throws his arms in front of him when the rockets explode.

"Hell...candle...what candle ?" He says to himself.

"We need to save that person," Ben says. "I can't imagine they're here accidentally. I'm ready to lead this charge, but I'll need a little cover. I don't believe that they're as poorly armed as they appear to be. Something just seems off to me. Anyone coming with me? Can Echo lay down some cover to scare these things a bit?"

As Ben readies the rescue operation, Kai ballyhooes and bellyflops into the throng. Screams and gunfire and the twang of arrows erupt, but half of them panic and flee. The dragon snatches something and leaps into and over the mob, gliding low almost within reach. He breaks free of the crowd, clutching the red haired woman who had multiple arrows sticking out of her.

And is pissed.

"Oh... I guess I should do something about those..." Kai states after he notices and tries to triage some first aid, "Grandpa always said be nice to the ladies... he did look weird and laugh creepy afterwards so I don't get the joke."

Chay fires a few missiles over the heads of the crowd, making sure to avoid Kai and the red haired captive.

"They took candle!"
"You no take candle!"
"WE TAKE CANDLE!
We no take candle!"

The DBees grumble and moan and tear their hair but they quickly give up and flee for their lives.

The woman tries to roll away Kai's claws despite her being bound and gagged. She accepts his healing, although her feisty nature results in a few glares and vehement mumbles through the cloth wrapped over her mouth.

Kai lands by the others and sits the lady down and unties her gag and rope bindings, "I guess this is Ms. Candle. Lady this is everyone..." Kai explains and nods since everything is done now.

Nailed it... Kai thinks to himself nodding at his own accomplishment.
