HoorayRat Character Discussions

Mar 16, 2020 5:00 pm
This thread is for discussing HoorayRat's character please do not post anything here that is not related to HoorayRat's character and yes collaborating with HoorayRat is consider fair postings.

Please make your rolls in here and outline what your are doing so that I can give you feedback on the world. Do note though this game borrows heavily from the Forgotten Realms so you can use information from that setting to outline your background.

Available Resources : 5e Player's Handbook (PHB) -- 5e Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide (SCAG)

I prefer if we stick to these books, but if a character/spell option from another official published book that would allow you to come up with an awesome concept, feel free to ask: I will take a look and let you know if I open to this option.

My character concept is a Yroc barbarian is defeated in single combat by paladin of redemption. Because he was defeated, he had to submit himself to the paladin. The paladin set himself to fundamentally change the PC from his violent barbarian ways.

This Sacred Oath is from XGTE.
The Oath of Redemption sets a paladin on a difficult path, one that requires a holy warrior to use violence only as a last resort. Paladins who dedicate themselves to this oath believe that any person can be redeemed and that the path of benevolence and justice is one that anyone can walk. These paladins face evil creatures in the hope of turning their foes to the light, and they slay their enemies only when such a deed will clearly save other lives. Paladins who follow this path are known as redeemers.

While redeemers are idealists, they are no fools. Redeemers know that undead, demons, devils, and other supernatural threats can be inherently evil. Against such foes, paladins who swear this oath bring the full wrath of their weapons and spells to bear. Yet the redeemers still pray that, one day, even creatures of wickedness will invite their own redemption.

Can you post an outline here of the things you got via Class and Background -- anything you sold -- then all the things you bought as this will help facilitate my going over that and that speeds up the start of the game -- thanks and keep in mind there is only one of me and 4 of you ;)

Is that a Warhammer pic?
Mar 25, 2020 12:01 am
Yep that be a Warhammer Pic although I like the World of Warcraft orcs just a much -- still they are Green (or Black) Skins in this world and not all of Warcrafts have have those 2 colors of skin.

Still both these sources create a visual representation that I find more appealing over others that I have seen over the years --- as to me Yrocs are big and strong and the stronger they are the bigger they are thus you get Biguns too if you happen to be familiar with the genre. And they are greened skinned except for the Black Yrocs who are even more vicious than the Green Skins. It is said amongst the Yrocs that they are Black skinned as this reflects their true heart and perhaps this is true.

Although I am going to guess yours might actually be a Big'un does not change your character any just gives you slightly better standing amongst your fellow Yrocs

I was trying to find one with a maul. I found a facial portrait I like. I'll get it added tomorrow when I'm on my desktop.

Spending 750gp is tough when you don't need armor.
Mar 25, 2020 2:51 am
Not really ;) have you posted what you have done so far ? If yes then perhaps I can give some suggestions after looking it over.
Mar 25, 2020 7:02 am
I did. The items were added to Equipment Overview Breakdown
Mar 25, 2020 4:07 pm
I'm definitely open to suggestions. I thought about a better crafted weapon, but wasn't sure one would be available due to resources in an urban settlement.
Mar 25, 2020 4:23 pm
You can get up to a full +2 Masterwork weapon (+2 To Hit +2 Damage) for x20 the base cost of the weapon or a lesser one in increments of +1 (aka +1/+2 x15 -- +1/+1 x10 -- +1 x5) note you can choose where the single +1 goes as well as the single +2 fpr instance you could have a +1 To Hit +2 Damage or +2 To Hit +1 Damage

Is it the same for MW shields?
