OOC:
We haven't seen much interaction between the PCs, so I've suggested a couple of ways this could happen for chapter 2.

I'm ok with you just chatting as normal for PbP, but given that the game has been very descriptive, you may want to discuss and coordinate your PCs' actions (maybe even split story posts!). This is the thread to gather ideas of how this can be done and do it ;) Remember you can use notes just for the person you're interacting with

When there is a knock at Josephine's door, she quickly closes her journal and hides it in her bunk. She then glances at the mirror, fixes her hair a bit and sits down on her bunk, legs crossed and putting on a warm smile. "Come in", she says, curious who it might be.

As Verne gets the permition to come in, he enters the quarters and closes the door behind him, "Good day, Lady Cominero," he takes off his hat and bows, "I hope I am not distracting you."
Jospehine smiles warmly at the guard captain. "Not at all, Mr. Verne", she says. "Please, come in, sit down. I wish I could be a proper host and offer you something to eat or drink but all rations are kept in the common storage." She looks up at him through her lashes from her seated position as he is still standing. "My husband is on duty with the captain currently but you are an honorable man who wouldn't take advantage of this situation and of me, are you not?"
Her tone is polite but she makes sure to add just a hint of playfulness to it that some men would understand as flirting. She wonders whether Conrad Verne is one of those men. If so, that might be useful.
However, the playfulness also serves to disguise her nervousness. She is alone with a man she barely knows in close quarters. He has already proven himself to be ruthless when punishing the sailors on the very first day of the journey. Josephine finds herself wishing she had a knife on her person, just in case.

Is she being flirtatious or is she raising a genuine concern? Conrad clears his throat and straightens his jacket, "You know that taking advantage of married woman is punishable by law," he says with calm but stern manner, "And as an officer of Royal Army I find it offensive that such a thought even crossed your mind." He hangs his hat on the hanger by the door and sits on the chair by the table. "Though, this is exactly what I wanted to talk to you about."
He looks straight in her eyes, trying to study her reaction, after all, if she is concerned then there are people on the ship that made her feel uncomfortable and need to be kept an eye on, there is also a possibility that she may intentionally provoke men, given that her demeanor could be considered flirtatious and women do like the attention.

"Of course, I never had a doubt in my mind that you are an honorable person and a good man. Mr. Veryard speaks very highly of you, though I am sure he wouldn't know all of your strengths", Josephine says. Her tone is still slightly flirtatious, and a suggestive smile dances at he edge of her lips. She runs a hand through her hair, loosening a single lock of hair from its designated place and letting it fall playfully into her face.
Now that Verne made his position clear, the worry has almost fully disappeared from her mind. Still, she decides to keep some sort of weapon near from now on, just in case. "I don't know if I can say the same about everyone on this ship, however. But I'm sure I can count on you to keep me safe. That is your duty, is it not?"

"It is my duty, yes," Conrad says leaning back a little, his facial expression remains serious but somewhat displeased, "As well as maintaining discipline on the ship, so, if there are men that you think may cause trouble, please let me know."
"I have also noticed that you spend quite a bit of time among the crew as well, I would advise you to limit your exposure to commoners, for your safety, of course. They are not known for their willpower and they may decide that having you is worth the risk of getting punished." He twirls his moustache as he thinks for a moment, the way she presents herself is quite suggestive and provocative, and while Conrad is used to long journeys and abstinence, given time even he may succumb to indecency around her.

Josephine studies Verne's reactions to her closely and is pleased to see that while the man has restraint, he doesn't seem immune to her charms. That is good to know.
"I figured if they get to know me as a person and not just the 'witch', they would be less likely to lynch me the day something goes wrong on the ship. But you may be right and I should be careful. Thank you so much for your concern, Mr. Verne"
She looks him over once more and then, less flirty and more serious, says: "If I may, while spending time with the crew, I am privy to their conversations among each other and many of them seem to harbor a dislike against you. After you made an example out of those men that were slacking off on the first day, they call you a tyrant and there has been talk about who would replace you if you needed replacement. Mind, I am just a woman and not familiar with how things usually are on these ships, but I am worried for your safety."

"Well, these men are of common folk, they have never had served on a military vessel and are not familiar with discipline," Conrad starts explaining, "This is why trade ships are so often falling prey to pirates, they panic and don't know what to do, and as simple minded individuals, they will always put the blame on anything other than themselves. So, if anything go wrong, they will blame you, and those of them who will try to defend you will be considered bewitched by you." He gestures with his hands as he talks, "Now, trained and disciplined personel will always know that as long as they do what they supposed to do, no matter the situation, they will most likely come out on top, and if they don't, then their commanding officers are to blame for not giving propper orders or themselves for not doing what they were supposed to be doing at the adequate level."
He seems to be a bit relaxed and pleased as he gets to show off his expertise a little bit, "I appreciate your worries about my safety, but there is no need for it, they may be displeased with my methods but we are not on a luxury trip, this is a military vessel and we are heading into the unknown territory, and the moment we will face any kind of trouble they will hide behind my back. They may fear me now, or even resent me, but the moment we encounter an enemy, they will be glad I am here."

"I am very relieved to hear that!"
Josephine stands up from where she sat on the bed and steps closer to Conrad. She puts a hand on his arm and says in a warm voice: "You should probably go before my husband returns and gets any wrong ideas about your visit." A suggestive smirk appears on her lips for a second before she adds: "But you are welcome to check up on me again whenever you wish. My husband is on duty very often."

"Yes, I have taken enough of your time," Conrad stands up and takes his hat off of the hanger. "I will assign Lieutenant Mayers to check up on you regularly, he is a good soldier, an officer and a faithful husband, so you should not worry on his account." He bows and puts his hat on before leaving the room.

OOC:
So @Fly asked about getting AP out of the RPing, which is an interesting idea. I won't do AP at the moment, as I need to run this a little bit longer, but I can give you a +1 bonus to call upon when you roll for something related to each other, particularly if you manage to refer to these events. What do you think?

OOC:
Sounds good. AP would be cool but then there would be a motivation to have as many PC to PC interactions per scene as possible (which isnt necessarily bad, I guess, but maybe not wanted)
This method rewards PC to PC but doesn't make it essential.

Bowl's advantage has been used: using Conrad's autority to look at the charts (or not being kicked out by the master helmsman!) :)
