CancerMan's post was perfect. This thread should have stopped there. At this point, it's just piling on with people saying "this guy sucks" which is no better than the snowflake comment. Please let it end.
If it's OPs "right" to imply anyone who doesn't want to be a part of graphic depictions and overtly evil gameplay is a a snowflake, it is absolutely everyone else's "right" to comment on that, should they so desire.

Trying to stifle that response - no matter how large - would be the same as stifling the OP.

It "should" only stop when everyone is done expressing their thoughts on the matter.

So long as such commentary remains within bounds of forum rules, of course.
It's the OPs right to say what kind of people he doesn't want in his game, and to use whatever cultural terms are appropriate!
For some reason people think it's appropriate to start policing the language of a person that they obviously wont be playing about a game they wont be joining.
why comment at all?

Just move on.

In a driverse group there are going to be people more aligned along the social progressive lines of the replies, and there are going to be others aligned on different lines.
Let's just self segregate, and play with the sort of people we want to play with in games we want to play and leave other people alone, if you object to the term snowflake or SJW that's your problem, these are totally acceptable (and non rude) terms for many people.
Just accept that some people think and feel differently than you, and practice what you preach.
The language may have been exclusionary, but that was the entire point of it, to exclude people who would be uncomfortable or offended by the games content.
Please see my edit above.

The responses here do nothing but vindicate the OP.

As someone said this is a diverse group, if you object to the term snowflake (a label in a value system that you may not share) then why not scroll on? why start up with the moral outrage that the OP was talking about in the first place.
It's like you can't help yourselves, someone puts a post up about a game that is obviously not for you, and rather than accept that and move on there are replies using terms like toxic and red flag.

If you're serious about this being a diverse group, then respect the differences and just carry on!
If we are not able to respond to a post in which a member namecalls people who don't play the kind of game he likes to play, then what you're really advocating is that a certain type of member is entitled to "free speech" and those who are his targets are expected to "scroll on" and allow it.
Why do you feel the need to respond?
The game isn't for you, he stated it clearly and unambiguously with a term that is not offensive in the lexicon of the people who use it, why not just accept the difference of opinion and carry on?

What are you hoping to achieve?
What do you want an apology?
I don't understand the motivation of people responding negatively to this at all!

At this point, I think everyone has gotten their opinions across. Piling on with insults towards the OP does not do anything to foster the kind of environment we strive for at GP. If you have issues with a post you see on the forums, the best thing that you can do is report it to an admin and let us handle it.

I'd rather not see any more posts on this thread unless they are expressing interest in the game or have questions about it. Thank you.

EDIT: Just want to add that this kind of weaponization of the idea of "diversity" invariably is used to tell people who represent or champion marginalized groups that pointing out namecalling or subtle bigotry and abusive language is actually a form a oppression. This is utter hogwash.
I'm not interested in debating intersectionalism with you!

I just want to know why you felt the need to be a policeman about something that doesn't concern you!
You are behaving in exactly the way the OP was trying to avoid, this stuff you wrote above is exactly what is trying to be excluded, so why not just accept the boundary and other peoples legitimate right to associate with whom they wish, why are you making an issue out of it?

People are objecting to the manner in which he advertised it, which was via back-handed insults. And what that says about the OP.
So it's a language policing issue...against a term that refers to the language police who then inevitable started policing language.

The responses totally vindicated his need to use the term, and also that terms was absolutely proportional.

I mean we're on a play by post website, someone just advertised for a private game that would be unsuitable for people of a certain political alignment, and in the responses (advertising for a play by post RPG) I've seen the terms toxic, marginalised groups, weaponised.

These words have no relevance to the subject at hand, and the sort of people who use them and bring them up are the people described by the word the OP used.

It's only offensive...if you make it apply to you, and the second you start the sort of replies we've seen, you have made the term accurate.

Use whatever cultural terms are appropriate! NO. The use of derogatory terms is never appropriate. If this was in his game and not on a public post, fine that may be used however, in a public post where everyone can/will read it no.

Uh oh, strawman one knocked down. Pivot. Pivot. Pivot.

All you're saying is you may police our language. But we may not police his.

Everyone can see the fallacy in that.

And who is the arbiter of what cultural terms are appropriate?
Personally I don't find the term offensive, I've seen applied across the political spectrum, it's not polite, it's not friendly, but its not offensive, and it's certainly not worth replying to.

I mean the term "snowflake" (a term derived from the uniquness and fragility of actual snow flakes, not any culturally valued terms, social taboos, body parts of obscene acts) refers to someone overly sensitive, and so if you find it offensive, if the word "snowflake" offends you, you are being over sensitive, and so you can't complain about the term because in your case it's accurate.

Accurate terms can't be insulting!

I think we have quite a different perspective on what should concern me. Any time I see someone making unprovoked namecalling and disparagement part of their interest check in a public post, I consider myself not just free to comment on it, but morally obligated to do so.

Absolutely no one has argued Realist can't run this game. We have steadfastly maintained that the namecalling and nasty implications about people who don't like this kind of game do NOT belong in the interest check.

I'm saying there is no point in policing accurate language, if the word snowflake offends you, then you are by definition a snowflake!

Oh boy folks. I had originally posted that I felt like people were piling on without actually having a conversation, but deleted my post because I thought maybe I was being premature. I can see I was not.

This thread has been locked due to exactly what Naatkinson said above, and the admins will be looking at next steps.
