Hi fellow gamers!
Hope everyone is doing okay during this pandemic. I have always been itching to run a campaign of Changeling: The Lost, and thanks to the virus, I have extra time available in my schedule. Most of my gaming friends don’t like Changeling, but I think it’s a fantastic game. I’m hoping to find some interested parties. There are currently two editions of Changeling. I own the books for both editions so I’m open to running either of them. Each edition has its pros and cons.
System: Storytelling System 1st or 2nd edition, as seen in the Chronicles of Darkness games (formerly New World of Darkness).
Number of Players: 4 to 7.
Posting Rate: At least once every day or two.
Commitment: For as long as people are interested.
Experience: Even if you’ve never specifically played Changeling, some experience with the World/Chronicles of Darkness is preferred. That said, new players are definitely welcome. The Storytelling System is not too difficult to learn.
Maturity Level: This is going to be an adult game. Changeling has lots of mature themes not suited for certain players.
If you don’t know what Changeling is, here’s a quick summary of the setting:
Changelings, also known as "The Lost," are humans who were once abducted by the True Fae (i.e., faeries). But these aren’t the cute, bowdlerized faeries depicted in Disney movies. No, these are the fae of ancient folklore: otherworldly horrors with godlike power and inscrutable, alien minds. The True Fae are more Lovecraftian than earthly, and they kidnap people to use as playthings and slaves, along with other purposes. A doppelgänger called a Fetch is left in the abducted person’s place.
Some Changelings manage to escape, but they find that their time in the Land of Faerie has changed them physically and mentally. Changelings are no longer human, but rather, they are partially fae and can never truly belong to humanity again. Instead they must exist in societies of their own, trying to balance their humanity against the inescapable truth that they are now creatures not unlike their former masters.
Changelings contend with a number of problems - mastering their newfound abilities, reclaiming their lives from their Fetchs, and staying out of the hands of the True Fae (who often coming looking for their escaped property).
If you are someone who likes dark fairy tales, urban fantasy, and mature subject matter, then Changeling: The Lost might be the game for you.
