I've never played a mecha RPG, so I wanted to try the genre out.

Any system is fine, since I don't know any mecha system.

Lancer is pretty good. I'll give someone else a chance to run this for you since I've got games going, but I have a story already ready to go in case you can't find anyone else.

If someone's running a decently RP-heavy Lancer game, count me in. Got some experience with the system by now but been wanting a PBP game to get my teeth into the setting.

That said, Saevikas, I would also heavily recommend Lancer. It's really good, and has a lot of free online tools that make tracking characters and such really easy.

I just read the book and I like how the system looks, even if I don't understand all aspects of it yet.

The online tool is really nice and easy to use too.

I'm in a PBP Lancer game and it's really fun so far. Seems like a solid system.

And the online tool is great

How's the PBP format working for your Lancer game? How fast do missions go?

We're still in the middle of our first mission. We've had one mech combat and one non-mech encounter so far and both of them went reasonably fast.

I hear good things about Lancer so I'd be down to give it a try.

Update: I'm not in a position to start a game... yet. I have a couple others I need to get a bit more into before I can take the time I need to set things up. If you find a GM before then, that's cool. If not, I am perfectly willing to run a game as soon as I have time.

That sounds good. Hopefully, I can find someone to GM a game.

Despite mecha being referred to as a genre of game, there's a enough variance in it that most mech/mecha stuff satisfies only a small group of mecha fans, so.... what do you think would be essential for a mecha game? What I mean is, for instance:

Does flight between planets interest you or would you prefer to be kept to one locale?
Do you want smaller mecha or say, building size stuff?

The Lancer setting has some conceits built in, but if needed we can easily change some of that and still work within the system.

For me, I'm fine with anything, since I haven't had much exposure to the genre in the first place. From what I see in the Lancer rulebook art, it seems that mechs in that game are about the size that I would expect. I think traveling between different planets could be interesting, with different environments to play with.

okay. Staying with that setting then. I will tell you right now, I will get setting info wrong, because there is SO much of it.

Alright, I'm starting a new game up. Sending invites to the four or five who are already interested. If we end up needing more, then I'll open an interest thread.

I would be interested in going on reserves. I thought I had posted, but appears I missed it.

I've sent out invites, incl. you LoM. If you don't see them I'll PM you the link.

I dropped a request as well, if you are the same game I think you are.
