This might be of interest. I'm not saying it should be followed. I'm just putting it up here for discussion.

Out of curiosity I pushed the Ogrillon through that guys math:

Ability Score Increases: +3
Large Size: +.5 (it's not clear what this actually means though, as there are no large size player races...)
Short Temper: +1 (I've given it the same value as a breath weapon or weak innate magic, as it's a 'weak' class feature)
Darkvision: +.5
Stupid and Gullible: -.5 (inverse of the circumstantial advantage benefits)
Hardy: +1.5 (valued at the same as an additional +1 Con, as it almost grants everything +2 Con would grant)
Languages: 0

So the base value appears to be: 6.0

Every sub-species grants a +1 ability score, and a third language (valued at +1.5 and +.5 each) plus an additional benefit. Bringing the race baseline to 8.0 + X; The doc recommends races balance at around 6.0, so I feel more confident in my recommendation to remove the +1 bonus attribute from the subspecies (as that brings it down to 6.5 + X).

Also, that was kind of fun :)

I think every homebrew should follow these rules unless it's either perfect or been published
