Tournament attendee sign ups and tournament info

If you're character is going to be participating in the tournament please post here so I can work out the numbers so say if six people sign up I'll have to add two NPCs to make it a tournament

The tournament will run with double health to all, so say you have 12 now you have 24, the other option of halving the damage done is also a viable option to double health, could even add half health and halving the damage dealt so the 0s have a chance, I've seen a lot of 0s interested, this can be discussed below, I want majority to agree on what's fair and what's not, it's a democracy not a dictatorship lol

You have to have a reason to fight, you are champions of a land, you can be the best they had to send, you can forge it or you can just BS you way and say you're fighting for X land (will require checks or a bribe), obviously first option is easiest, if you are a true champion you will have a invitation scroll, if you forge it then I will roll a hidden forgery check or you can pay someone or if you have a forgery kit of some sorts then you can make it as close to one as you can

The goliath sailor Stalkhlijan is a representative of the Free States of the Black Cross, which is a collection of islands in sovereign waters in the coastal region of Highwater. The pirate captain cannot believe you have never heard of this great nation and it is almost an insult that they have come all this way with their champion(s) to be sidelined by a request for paperwork.

Not really RP just yet but numbers, I can post a chapter Entering Leander on the main page if you want to post

I figured I would set the context for how a goliath pirate entered a tournament reserved for champions. Deception and a few bribes, with the idea that the pirates will earn more during their stay, so having the big man take all the attention is a worthy investment.

"I also represent the Black Cross. A diverse nation deserves diverse representation." I put a thoroughly dampened invitation on the table, and lean forward, "And if you sign up the ol' stone-breed here, you'd best put me on the roster as we put on a damned good show."

Forgery (Intelligence) - (1d20+3)

The best part is I feel like the deception check would of worked if it wasn't for the forged papers

So, the forgery attempt fails?

No that would pass but the deception check by Stalkhlijan would of worked due to the possibility of the invitation (if it ever got sent) in pirate territory may not have got there but if someone came along with a invitation from the same area then why didn't Stalkhlijan get his

"I am Ekezien Elekastran, the champion from Tarrakus," Ekezien says, bowing low as he sets down his invitation. Tarrakus is home to a rarely seen (and even more rarely visited) group of Dragonborn, who all have dark green marking on their face.

"You cannot mean you have not heard of Ceroset! Why, my home is more beautiful and noble than you could ever dream! It may be a small island, but you cannot suggest to me that SIZE of all things is what determines who you allow into your tournament!" Soshin looks disgusted at the thought. "Besides..." as he leans in close, "you wouldn't want your inevitable champion to head home empty-handed, now would you?" He grins widely and waits for their apologies.

Weird, that Deception roll should have a +5 in it, for a 12. Still not great, but better than that.

I can't help but feel it would be most fair to treat them as independent rolls. Presumably, if 13 was sufficient to get him in, then if the registrar inquires as to why he doesn't have his invite, given that Kasrik has his, Stalk would have continued his lie and said something like "lost in a storm" (and Kasrik's invite being quite sodden and wet would support that possibility).

Don't worry everyone is getting in, I'm just bringing up the fact that you're from the same place and came on the same boat, one has an invitation and the other one doesn't, the convince was there, until you brought up the scroll for the same area, it's like "I understand from the circumstances I'll let you in.....heyyyy wait a second!" It's a contradiction

"Seeing as we're all signed up, who wants to spar. It's been a long haul on that awful ship, I could use a good throw down to stretch out the old muscles." I rest my hand on the hilt of my warhammer as I issue the general challenge.
OOC:
As regards your first question; double health is probably necessary to prevent matches from being over at the drop of initiative. Kasrik can hit hard enough to knock himself out in one attack.

Also, half damage may be a problem if there is a barbarian (who can rage to get resistance, halving incoming damage -- halving half damage would mean a Barb is basically unstoppable). Double health should be sufficient to keep it interesting without making it take a decade to finish a match. Will there be long rests or short rests between matches? This matters for level 1 competitors, who have class abilities that refresh on long rest to consider (the above mentioned Barbarian wouldn't be able to rage in every match if the whole event happens in one day; but if its a match a day they rage every time because there's no real 'cost' to raging for them. Same consideration for the Ogrillion's mini-rage).

Very short breaks will happen, even if something is "after a short/long break" I don't feel like it'll be fair as it could easily be used to just walk towards a win

So just 'magic aided healing' provided by the tournament staff between battles, and otherwise no recovery?

You will always be at max health before and after the fights even if you lose you're fight

"Is this where you register for the tournament?" A small, excited voice pipes up from behind Stalkhlijan and Kasrik. A diminutive metal humanoid steps through the gap between the goliath and the dwarf, waving a neatly rolled up parchment. "Here is my master's invitation. His name is Vrexoeis, the Storm Dragon. And he is lord of his own domain." the miniature automaton points up at the flying citadel that has been hovering over Leander for the past few hours.

I hadn't seen this thread until now, but I also intend to enter the tournament.
