Mr. Armitage, what is your feeling about reskinning weapons to match the setting? I'd like to take a rapier but describe it as a ore appropriate sword for the setting like a Xiphos

It’s a case-by-case thing, I think. A xiphos seems more like a short sword (wikipedia defines it as one), so I’m inclined to say its a short sword. Rapiers are also piercing damage, not slashing. Is there a Greek-style equivalent to a rapier?

I investigated a little further and found a weapon called a Mycenean Rapier that looks like thisI'll use that!

Okay, so for reference, I’m going to be rolling initiative for people, and I’ll post who can act following each enemy post. How long do you guys want to post your round in combat? I’m new to this so we’ll figure it out as we go. :)

Hey folks, we haven't talked about splitting treasure yet. I would like to propose we split everything evenly and keep a public record of things. The public record is important so that items don't get forgotten in our individual character sheets if one of us takes a vacation or something and misses a few weeks of the game. Also for magic items I'd like to make sure it is not a finders keepers situation, and that we all work toward sharing magic items roughly equally across all characters.

I am very much on board with that. That's how I like to do things.

Would it be faster in situations like this if I just rolled for everyone at once? Seems like it could speed things up.

Personally I don’t mind, would it be all prompted skill checks or just the ones you ask of the whole party?

It just seems silly to have a post that says "History check" and then wait a day for everyone to post something with their roll. If there's one for the whole party, that in particular seems like a good way to speed things up.

Honestly just trying to make the most of the platform, so whatever everybody else wants is fine by me. :)

I definitely like the idea of you rolling skill checks for PCs, if it isn't too much bother. I usually have character summaries in a text file which makes it pretty quick to consult and then load a post with the appropriate rolls.

Agreed. It lets you guys focus on RP and moving the story forward once you get to posting. A whole lot less waiting for rolls.

Yeah, I've generally found when I'm GMing PBF games that it's easier in those situations just to make whatever rolls you'd normally ask people to make themselves, and tell them the results directly instead. Stuff like initiative, searching, perception, knowledge checks, etc. Some people really prefer to make their own rolls, but I'm happy for you to roll for me whenever you need to.

I've read/heard that there are some major flaws in Descent into Avernus, but there are also easy-ish fixes. One solution is proposed by the amazing Sly Flourish in this article:

I haven't read much about it since I'm a player but I do happen to own the DMs Guild adventure he is refers to in the article, The Fall of Elturel. It was one of the covid-19 freebies. It might still be free, but if not I can send it your way. There are other articles out there "fixing" the adventure but again I didn't look it over much. Naat will be a good person to talk to though, since he is running it.

FYI, I'm definitely using the Piety system. I'm not going to usually give updates on where you're at Piety wise, but know that I'm keeping track of deeds that your God would approve of. If you reach certain Piety levels, your God will bless you with new abilities. Here's a current breakdown of everyone's, just so you have an idea of why you're at where you're at. :)

Astraea/Nylea - 3 total Piety (1 starting; 1 took down bad guys; 1 helped Photina)
Sarlyn/Athreos - 3 total Piety (1 starting; 1 took down bad guys; 1 made sure bodies had proper burial)
Kalistios/Thassa - 4 total Piety (3 starting due to Pious; 1 took down bad guys)
Scylax/Iroas - 2 total Piety (1 starting; 1 took down bad guys)
Saya/Ephara - 2 total Piety (1 starting; 1 took down bad guys)

I mean...depends on the armor? Medium or Heavy armor, probably not.

Kenes is currently busy with home life, but I believe he was planning to be available again from Thursday. I have yet to actually start a game with him in. Others I do not know. Maybe worthwhile seeing who doesn't currently have a game, or few? I know Clay is new for example.

Me neither. Clay narrowly missed out on the openings I just had in other games, so at least he seems keen. Although with new players that can quickly wane and they might ghost after a few weeks. But at the same time, I know how much it can suck being a new player with limited experience and everything, so might be worth it to give someone a shot. Worst case you just violently kill off their character when they disappear >_>
