Hey, Naatkinson, can Hegy 'borrow' 700GP? :-)
If it's allowed, sure! The only things I can think of to buy are +1 armor or a Cloak of Resistance +1, neither of which I'm super excited about lol

You'll just have to think of a good reason that I loaned you that much money!
I'm perfectly okay with characters lending money to other characters for gear purposes, or everyone pooling some funds together to get an item that will benefit the whole party.

Keep in mind, though, that if you don't have the funds for something right now, you will get a little extra to carry with you in game, and a chance to spend it before the action starts. Once all of the characters are submitted, I'll get a couple of dice rolls from everyone to determine starting wealth and "secret GM plot cookies", and then get the party started.

Equipment purchased, including a kick ass wand of cure light wounds. Going to wait on the prepared spells until we get closer to start.

Quick questions as I'm getting rolling: Aasimar okay? Also, do racial skill proficiency bonuses GIVE you that skill? Are we paying attention to racial "Favored Classes"?

Now that I'm not half-drugged on muscle relaxers (yesterday was a bad day...much ouch, very pain), lemme give your questions the answers they deserve.

I'll be brutally honest, I didn't double-check to see if anyone had picked their favorite classes, and which bonuses they were using for said favored class. So no, I wasn't paying attention to that. If people WANT to use those bonuses, then I'm fine with that, but it's an all or nothing thing. Either everyone is using them, or nobody is. (Naatkinson, szemely, and moofslaot, did you guys factor in Favored Class on your characters?)

On racial skill bonuses, I've never played that any racial skill bonus gives you a class trained bonus in that skill...it just means that your race is more prone to that particular skill. For instance, a Halfling fighter still has the +2 racial bonus to Acrobatics, but he won't have the class-trained bonus that a Halfling rogue would have.

And yes, you can play an Aasimar...and it does my heart good to see someone consider playing one...they hold a special place in my heart as the first race I ever played D&D with.

Yep, I took my Favored Class bonuses :)

Did you use the racial, or the normal +1 HP or +1 Skill Point?
Mar 23, 2016 2:13 pm
I... am not sure what that means?

Favored Class: Each character begins play with a single favored class of his choosing—typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level. Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 hit point or + 1 skill rank. The choice of favored class cannot be changed once the character is created, and the choice of gaining a hit point or a skill rank each time a character gains a level (including his first level) cannot be changed once made for a particular level. Prestige classes (see Prestige Classes) can never be a favored class.

In Pathfinder, you get to pick a "Favored Class" at first level. Whenever you take a level in your Favored Class, you get a bonus in it...the core book lists a +1 HP or +1 Skill Rank, but other books list different bonuses for different races.

Ahh, then no I haven't included those bonuses yet.

I'd go ahead and add them, then.

I'll take the HP +2 bump.
Mar 23, 2016 2:45 pm
+3, actually. You get it for 1st level, too. :)

Okay cool. I'll probably end up taking the HP bonus for the Summoner Favored Class since that can be really useful for Life Link, but as an Aasimar Summoner I could also give my Eidolon DR 1/evil for every level in my Favored Class (apparently).

So yeah, then if I didn't take Diplomacy or Persuasion, they'd just be at +2 not at 2+WIS Mod or 2+CHA Mod (is that right?)

I might submit my characters in a wholly unfinished state so you can look at them (I'm making 1 PC for the Summoner and 1 for the Eidolon).
