Gotcha, mine will be to.

I was originally thinking I would like to play a Halfling Monk but skimming the Core Rulebook, I'm not sure that would be the best choice. 5e seems to be a bit more accomodating to that particular combination than Pathfinder does since the Halfling's small size penalizes them when attacking.

I definitely want to stick with the halfling race, but am thinking maybe a Ranger would be better suited, since it looks like we have a couple of melee characters already, possibly some a magician, and no mentions of ranged attacks, which I enjoy anyway.

Actually, maybe I will go with the Rogue Class, and the chance encounter campaign trait.

AKSHULLY... I can't decide between halfling ranger or rogue. Anyone have any suggestions as to what would be most useful to the arty based on the currently existing party makeup?

Hey there funguy. So the thing about small size in PF is you'll get a bonus to attack rolls but your weapon damage is smaller. That includes unarmed and if you use a bow or whatever. Honestly, it doesn't make that much difference in the long run because your die roll isn't that big a part of the damage after a little while. So I would say if you wanna play a monk, go for it. There is a feat you can take to make your unarmed attacks work like they are a size bigger, though you'd probably want to clarify if LoM would let you use it. Technically it's for monsters.

A rogue is a good way to get around the size thing though. Sneak attack is d6's no matter what.

I've mulled it over. I'll play a halfling ranger, and I'll take the Chance Encounter campaign trait, unless someone else wants it.

I think I'm gonna try rolling my starting gold.

Rolls

Gold - (4d6)

(1455) = 15

Favored enemy is a good way to get around the small weapons too. I'm not taking that trait myself.

I think it's settled on Witch.

Be aware being small can slightly hinder ranged as well. (If only because of strength penalty). If you are still interested in the sling, you likely want to take this if you haven't noticed it -

Warslinger

Halflings are experts at the use of the sling. Halflings with this racial trait can reload a sling as a free action. Reloading a sling still requires two hands and provokes attacks of opportunity. This racial trait replaces sure-footed.

It's an alternate racial trait, so you can choose to get it instead of sure-footed.

I'll go with that. I was thinking I was going to have to take the rapid reload feat.
Jul 4, 2020 5:08 pm
Yeah it's nice as saves a feat. I would recommend your first feat being Precise shot (You get pointblank for free)
Jul 4, 2020 9:49 pm
I like that. That's what I'm going to go with.

Also will suggest having at least 10 strength to start, so you don't have a damage penalty. Favouredd class options - Outsider (chaotic) or Outsider (Evil)

Slings are alright. There's some cool options for Halflings, but if you want to optimize more at the cost of an extra feat or 2, I'd go Crossbows, and not have to worry about Str.
Jul 5, 2020 1:32 am
In this game, with the mythic rules, optimisation will probably not matter. Everybody is gonna be pretty strong.
Jul 5, 2020 3:28 am
Fair enough.
Jul 5, 2020 4:02 am
From what I gather you almost have to try pretty hard to not break things.
Jul 6, 2020 6:58 am
To a degree, but the level of breakage is vast. I will quickly saying ranged weapons may suffer a bit at first due to DR - I recommend stocking up on cold iron bullets. (Cold iron being good against demons will be common knowledge around the worldwound, as will the fact you may fight demons, so everyone do feel free to grab weapons made of it.)

Is there a price difference for cold iron weapons?
