Well kenesperanza I think you are doing great balancing being a GM with RL as that can sometimes be a bit tricky and sometimes I wonder if players understand how much effort GMs put in if they are interested in running a quality game

No worries. I fully understand RL causing conflict sometimes. RL takes importance.

Some of us GM as well ;) though admittedly I often overload myself and burn out.

Hey. I'm the new guy. Thanks for having me. I'll get on making a character. I am rather green to Shadowrun 5E, but I am somewhat familiar with the setting. I also know how to use Chummer, so I can at least do the basic chargen by myself. I'll just ask one of you fine people for the obvious mistakes I made afterwards. Before I get all into that, could someone give a breakdown of the team(s) we have so I don't make the 5th street sam ninja? :)

One thing I forgot to mention is that while I only played a weeeeee bit of Shadowrun 5E, I played a drek-load of Earthdawn, Shadowrun's fantasy brother from the FASA days. So a lot of the Fourth World stuff that re-emerged is familiar to me (metahuman types, dragons, drakes, spirits, etc).

So, thinking character concepts. With the Street Sam being a heavy invested combat character, I was thinking on a more utility character to pair with it. Now, I'll probably need help with this, but the Rigger seems really cool, both from a hacking and drone-wielding perspective. Would also bring utility as a mechanic or something to fix up said street sam's chrome parts after a scrap.

Personality-wise, I'm thinking down your luck street expert, female. Perhaps addicted to something like BTL's. Also considering a funky race like a centaur. Currently opening books and getting overwhelmed with options.

Hey Khulod check out the thread "Character Creation Walk Through" I helped another player walk through building a Rigger you might find that step by step process to be useful -- and heck you could just take that character with perhaps just some tweaks to use as your own as that player had to bow out

Note when building a Rigger, Hacker, or just about any other base class type, you pretty much have to focus on the base class type as you will not generally have enough to diverge into more than one path and still be any good at anything -- however perhaps like my character you can put the Hacker thing on standby and slowly build into that roll if you planning to initially be a Rigger

For Jasper and Maya Group:
Is it ok if we wait for the new players to join you before I move the scene forward?
Baby and Lorelei can continue their conversation.
Khulod's character will be in Jasper group and dominion's character will be in Maya group.

For Max's Group:
You can continue your planning, make knowledge rolls for clues, make skill rolls for other stuff you may want to do.

Hi guys, thanks for having me! I'm working on a sort of combat decker, Filipino boy who grew up in the slums with a hardcore long haul addiction. Building him as a second story man... climbing, jumping, b&e. He takes jobs as a data courier during which his unassuming junkie facade helps keep him off the radar. I really envisioned him as a ladyboy at first, but decided that might be too polarizing for public forums. Anyway, glad to be back in the sprawl ;)

Your character starts with the second faction with Baby and Lorelei.

dominion451 just some shared thoughts and nothing more -- your character is going to be working for the upper-corrupt-crust of society I am not sure a junkie would fit in well with that kind of clientele -- but it is your character -- now however (not sure how polarizing it would be either) but I think your ladyboy idea might fit in very nicely with that scene --- now of course if he were a "clean" junkie (aka just addicted without outward signs that he is addicted that could work I would think) I think though the "junkie" carries with it a more low-life aspect to it which would break the facade that the upper-corrupt-crust tries to maintain. I mean its okay to have vices and addictions but its not okay to show the ugly at any time as the veneer must be maintained no matter how thin it is.

Welcome Dominion. A decker could be useful on the Maya team. My char is likely somewhere on the LGBT spectrum though I have not narrowed it down yet, and the other is non-binary, though I do understand there's a but more to the 'ladyboy' term, I admit I'm not too familiar.

Those are great suggestions Joker, I was having some trouble sniffing out the finer details of the crews and the scene and I think you just dialed in the focus of my character. I was aiming for a sort of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo theme with this one but as you suggested I'll scale her up a bit and bring back the TG aspect while dialing back the junkie part. She will still have an addiction to long haul, I just see her as believing sleep to be the enemy, but I'll make her much more of a high functioning addict.

I am mostly done with my character (very familiar with SR) but I'll work on some tweaks today to make her fit the scene a lil better.

Ok I submitted my character in order to get that first post in as I see the Maya thread is about at the end of the character introduction phase, I have a couple more items I want to buy that I will add today (electronics kit, ammo, etc) and I will add the background as well.
