Carter doesn't care for the situation as it is clear. He looks to Murri, We have a slight problem here. How do you propose we fix it? Either way we need to get inside.
Jul 9, 2020 8:01 pm
OOC:
Diwa doesn't know either of you. She just is a friendly sort of person, and given how much Carter stands out it was a safe assumption that he was here for work as well. She was just trying to make small talk instead of staring like everyone else did. Also because I didn't want to be left out ;)
Diwa rolls her eyes. "'Broke' and 'slight problem' it is then! As for getting in.... have we tried the door? It's a church not a fortified CorpSec outpost. And I assume you were invited, like I was." She starts walking as she speaks, moving to take her own advice and... well, try the door.

OOC:
Cool we got that all sorted out ;)
Murri turns his head slightly to look in Carter's direction but behind his goggles his eyes stay fixed on the female ork, "I concur that we do, but perhaps this friendly lady is going to... fix it... by supplying us with some money. As to inside yes, but there is more underfoot here than is easily noticeable and we may need to investigate that as well." Carter knowing Murri the way he does knows that he is trying to say more than what he is saying in order to signal to him that there is something amiss beyond what is easily noticeable. Carter is quite aware of Murri's fairly extraordinary senses.

With the revelation that this Diwa had been invited Murri is inclined to trust her a wee bit more and says to her as she is headed to the door, "Making assumptions can be dangerous, and are you inclined to trust every invite that you get is legit." What he says next is a near perfect copy of Diwa's voice, "What if it was fake, and not at all what it seemed like."
OOC:
Okay I am not caring if Carter or Diwa can tell that Murri is imitating Diwa's voice so I do not care if its a perfect copy of her voice ;) I will settle with near perfect as that will get the point across regardless -- and yes Carter is aware that Murri can do that - I will make sure to send you information on what Carter does know about Murri a bit later

Diwa raises an eyebrow. "Neat trick. But I'm a local. I know how things operate out here in Tondo. Besides, I'm nobody. Don't have any major enemies that I know of, and I'm not exactly rich. There's no reason for someone to lure me out here for some wicked end. Now your friend there, on the other hand... He looks like money, and this isn't a rich part of town, so maybe you are the ones who should be worried about whether this is legit, no? Speaking of, you might want to leave one of your toys with your bike, there. The locals have been watching it pretty closely, eh?"
OOC:
Whoops haha. Forgot it doesn't default to posting as Diwa. Fixed it. Also Diwa's an Ork, not a troll, though I mighta grabbed a bad image for it. It's just what came up on google images when I searched for Shadowrun Ork. Or it's the first one that didn't have loads of cyberware anyway.

Carter is feeling things are off and he senses are on alert. We are a bit exposed out here. Best inside. Murri knows Carter never concerned about being out of place or exposed. He has to be eliminating possible problems. He is preparing for a quiet combat.

Next to impossible to notice is the drone is still outside the door watching for activity as they go inside.
Jul 10, 2020 12:34 am
OOC:
Ahn Ork... well dang that changes everything ;) -- well at least a few references anyway -- which have been fixed -- and I am sorry trolls ... orks ... they all look the same to me ;) but yeah know that you mention it she does look more like an ork than a troll
"Thanks I like to stay in practice and you being alive is all the reason some would need, with you being the less note worthy the better. For no one will miss you or ask questions should you come up missing. So there are good reasons for someone to attempt to lure you out here for wicked reasons. As for me I am always concerned, I came to check things out indirectly as that tends to be the path of those who wish to no longer be caged. As him, well he is what he is and sometimes he is a wonderful distraction for everyone to focus on." He smiles wryly at Diwa.

To Carter he replies, "Well better exposed out here than ambushed in there, still, it does not sound like anything is waiting for us in there. So please lead on." Murri gestures towards the door and then will cautiously follow the other two inside closing the door down to a crack.

The troll with the rooster stepped away from the group and went walking away from the chapel. He'd greet every fellow he'd meet as he walk.

Murri, Diwa, and Carter entered the chapel. It's morning but inside the chapel it was dark due to lack of windows. It was musty, it smelled like mold perhaps from being left unused. Inside there was just the altar and a man sleeping under it. His clothes were all dirty. Beside him was a bottle of gin. When he noticed you enter he woke up groggily, sat down and scratched his head.

"What time is it?" He asked in a whisper.

The man looked at you and once you all got in, the door behind you closed. The man lit a cigarette and smoked.

"You three the ones recruited for the job?" He asked in English as he looked at you with sharply as if he was judging you from head to toe.

Murri knows from the man's heart beat that he is calm. He can also hear the low cracking noise coming from the man's lungs if he listen intently. Carter find it hard to detect anything from the man, it was as if the man is erased from his sensors. For the shaman Diwa, you notice the man's powerful aura, it was intimidating and you knew that the only reason you're still standing where you are is because the man in front of you allowed it.

Carter spills out, Seems your just the man we have been looking for. He turns and gives Murri a nod. His eyes skip over Diwa. Realizing thinks here are not what the seem, Carter elects not to move and is still very much on his guard.
Jul 10, 2020 2:32 pm
As usual Murri let his perceptions flow over him like a soft breeze that would barely ruffle a hair picking up on every detail that he could perceive and softly whispered, "Many things here are not at all what they seem." Echoing the comment he had made to Diwa only moments earlier in her own voice.

Whatever the man said, Diwali didn't catch it. But she knew he was dangerous, so she endeavors to be polite. "I'm sorry, I don't speak English," she responds in Filipino. "Are you our contact this time?"

The man took the bottle of gin, drank and then threw it on the side. You all notice that he is in a bad mood. He looked at Diwa with a menacing stare that forced her to take a step back.

"I'm the one who's gonna say if you're the ones we're looking for." As your senses adjust, you notice that the man is an elf and also notice scales on parts of his body. He didn't speak in a Language Diwa would understand but for some reason Diwa could understand him.
kenesperanza sent a note to TheEzzran
"Brother has a big job for you but right now I'm here to test if you're qualified for that job or not." The elf spoke.

"First, tell me, what are you capable of." He commanded. You felt like you were all compelled to answer to his command.
OOC:
If you want to resist make a willpower roll. Otherwise, you are compelled to answer his command and tell him what your character thinks they are good at. Get four successes/hits and you'll be able to resist it. You can also make one other check against the man if you want, to see if you can recall information about him.
Jul 10, 2020 4:14 pm
OOC:
Note: first name Murri pronounced (moor-REE) and if it comes up later last name Ciélago pronounced (see-EY-lah-gho)

Okay by resist I am assuming normal resist versus mental magic -- (Logic + Willpower) if that is wrong please just drop out the Willpower from the roll -- I will roll them separately just in case and and in case any of the others did not know (had to double check myself) Memory Test (Logic + Willpower)

Okay if it was a (Logic + Willpower) Resist I got 4 Successes
On the Memory Check I got 4 Successes
Murri did not much care for how this was playing out and the wave of power that came with that mental command to divulge all ones personal information was impressively scary. Especially considering this was to be ones employer. Your typical Johnson he was not. Murri waits to see how the others react before deciding what he was going to do.

Doing dice. Learning more about the spellcaster guy and the spell would be an Assense check, right?
I'll also roll to resist the magic but it probably won't change anything even if she succeeds. It's not like he wouldn't be able to tell what she does anyway, eh?

That's 3 hits on the Assense and narrowly avoiding a Critical Glitch on the resist (no hits) so I guess she's talking.

Also 3 hits on the Memory roll.
Also added a roll to resist the intimidation factor. Got 1 Hit but not sure it matters with failing the Compulsion.
Diwa instinctively recoils half a step back, trying to figure out what exactly he just did, or what he might be or.... really anything. While she does that, though, she finds that words are already spilling out of her mouth. "Right, yes. I'm a Shaman. Bear totem. I can heal, cure diseases and poison, purge the effects of drugs, even help with a hangover. I can also cast a few spells to make people wish they'd never been born. Spew fire from my hands, magically break their bones, etcetera. I'm also alright with a pistol, when I need to be." She grimaces. The feeling of being magically compelled is.... unpleasant.

Carter's turn. Rather new at Shadowrun. No idea what memory check would be.. Unsure if my spell immunity would kick in or not... probably doesn't matter as I have 1 save so far.
First, tell me, what are you capable of.

He replies back, I'm more than capable at killing people that get in the way. I can sense out the area fairly well.

Like Carter had much chance again mental attacks... The man that is addicted to ZEN... His will power was never something to speak highly of.

Rolls

Logic, Will Power - (3d6, 2d6)

3d6 : (326) = 11

2d6 : (23) = 5

Magic Resistance - (2d6)

(42) = 6

OOC:
Okay Assensing is not learning about a non-lingering spell but yeah it can give you more information on the spiritual aspects of things BUT (just a cautionary note) when you Assense you do open yourself to being attacked Astrally since you become dual-natured as soon as you do and those things that could not affect you can now do so. On a positive note though, its like perception you notice everything via that means so as long as you can see them you get all that information on them so the same roll used to Assense a single person can be used to Assense a group and everything around them. Of course noticing something not obvious I think is still a Perception check within the Assense check but not 100% sure on that one.
[ +- ] Assensing
Yeah okay and it looks like Carter's spilling all the beans first ;)

Uh do you mean Magic Resistance if yes that would kick and give you extra dice on your resistance test. The system as far as I know does not have Spell Immunity unless you happen to have a Critter Power and Magic Immunity would be extremely unbalancing even if a critter had it.

Memory Test is (Logic + Willpower) + any bonuses you might have to remember stuff

Diwa

You were not able to resist getting intimidated by the man in front of you. You feel like you're standing in front of a man who can kill you with just a snap of his fingers.

kenesperanza sent a note to TheEzzran
"A shaman I see, and a peeping tom too." The man raised an eyebrow.
Carter

"Kill eh? Your bugs can not even see me." The man yawns, unimpressed by Carter's introduction.

kenesperanza sent a note to GeneCortess

Murri

You were able to resist the wave of frightening power. You saw the man smirk when he noticed you were not affected.

kenesperanza sent a note to DeJoker
"Interesting. Now who are you supposed to be?" The man asked Murri.
Jul 11, 2020 5:37 pm
Diwa's mouth falls open as she takes in the sheer power this man contains. It takes her a moment to collect her wits. ".... this spell... the language one.... don't suppose you wanna teach it to me.... nah you probably don't even follow the same tradition huh."
Her words come slowly and distracted as she tries to take in the sheer size of this man's aura. What even is he?
Jul 11, 2020 7:03 pm
Again he can not help but whisper those words again, "Many things here are not at all what they seem." Still, while it was tempting to do so, he sees no point in looking past the veil to ascertain what it is that is fairly obvious at this point. As there was no mistaking that this guy was power and if Max, he was not, then that would make Max that much more impressive that such an individual would be seemingly working for him.

Then to the individuals question directed at him, Murri responds politely, "Well on the surface mostly just a humble non-citizen concerned about the exploitation and mistreatment of other non-citizens less fortunate than himself. Still your questions seem to me somewhat vague in nature since I would venture to say that you know more about each of us than we ourselves even know. Further it is that knowledge about us that has us here to be tested?, by you. The true question is what is it that you need to ascertain that you do not already know, or is this more of a indoctrination of those who might be more on the fence so-to-speak. A sort of warning that we best not betray any trust that you place in us."

Now, as to what am I exactly, well that is a fairly good question I suppose, I mean I view myself as a manufactured freak of nature that has been lucky enough to escape his slated destiny. One who is hoping and committed to change that past destiny into something that becomes a positive legacy aimed at helping as many as possible. Beyond that," he gives a slight shrug, "I am sure you can easily perceive what I am physically and magically so telling you about those seems pointless."

However, I do have a question for you if you do not mind, can you and/or would you tell me what resides beneath the streets outside or more importantly is it the cause of the ill that seems to be adversely affecting the residents of Tondo."

Diwa's gaping is brought up short by Broke's monologue. ".... I've never heard anyone use so many words to say something so simple who wasn't a conman or a cult leader. Which might as well be the same thing, really. So which is it for you, chum?"

Why do I get the feeling we're breaking Rule 4 of Shadowrunning...

Carter asks, Are you trying to provoke me? Or just letting know what I already know. Yes I need better equipment to penatrate your defenses, but I'm glad your keeping the trash off my bike. Even though Carter can't penatrate defenses, he lets him know he does in fact sense them. So what is it you wanted to know? I sure you know just how strong and fast I am. He question to find out how to appease the man. He does know now that Diwa must be a team mate runner.
