IC Knowledge: A Brief History on Prejudice

OOC:
I had planned on giving this information as part of the prologue, but realized it might be handy to help with the party dynamic, considering a player's potential character choice. You can let this information flavor the party dynamic however you like, but remember to keep in mind that you have all partied together before. Enjoy :)
The citizens of Olera are anywhere from distrustful to downright hostile of anyone who doesn't resemble a human, elf, dwarf, or gnome. 100 years prior to this campaign, the Dread Lord Damos used an army comprised of ratfolk, kobolds, goblins, hobgoblins, etc., to cow and dominate the continent. Drow fought as his elite guard, and the Catfolk, Kitsune, and Vanara were forced into conscription, and fought unwillingly against the rebellion that rose against Damos.

When Roland the First defeated Damos and drove the Drow back into their underground cities, he freed the conscripted races and gave them a choice: help drive back the monstrous races that still rampaged over the villages and countryside, or return to their homelands in peace. Most of them returned home to rebuild, with only a few staying behind to generate goodwill between the tribes and Roland's fledgling kingdom.

In modern days, the people of Olera, with a few exceptions (including the royal family), are distrustful to downright hostile toward anyone who doesn't resemble an elf, dwarf, gnome, halfling, or human. Even the half-drow, who were born out of sexual slavery, are looked at with disdain...most were killed at birth, and the ones who survived have since been exiled from their homes.

Dragons are believed to have been long since extinct on Olera...one hasn't been seen in nearly 150 years, and even then they were mostly hunted down.

The fact that Perrin apparently stumbled onto a lost dragon's hoard is absolutely astounding to all of you.

(I knew I forgot to mention this...)
