"Maggots? Yuck." Quaji looks at the enemies with disgust but it was not a time to go puke. His allies can't see well in this darkness, reason probably why the archer missed.

"The maggot's the size of a..." Quaji describes the enemy as best he could (size, possible weak point, position, etc.) for the man named Manius as he recall information about these large disgusting maggots.

OOC:
Can I move up and still attack.
Jul 29, 2020 1:07 am
OOC:
Yep. You have a move action, and a standard action you can use for a single attack. Worthwhile noting that unlike 5e you can't split up your movement before and after your standard action, you have to take it all in one go.

OOC:
I would like to take a five foot step so that whichever one the combat advice is on is within range of my reach weapon.
"Disgusting."

Manius steps back and tries to skewer one of the maggots with his polearm.

Manius's weapon pierces one of the maggots adeptly, and it barely squirms on the blade before falling limp.
Jul 29, 2020 5:54 am
First a monumental demon incursion and the death of a dragon hero, and now...giant maggots! "Oh Goddess, I think I'm going to be sick!" The overwhelming events now coupled with immense revulsion seems to have dulled her reflexes, as she'd usually be the first to act. "I'm afraid that the little magic I have probably isn't going to be a help here. What I have prepared works more on... well, people." Speaking of people, what had she heard about these folks before? She's certain she'd caught at least a name previously.

Láriel pulls her dagger out from its hiding place on her thigh, and moves over to guard Anevia making sure to not block her shots. She gives a smile and a nod to Elias. "I'll watch out for her, you go ahead."
OOC:
Don't have anything in Local or Nobility yet, but maybe she's picked up some info related to her job?

Elias quickly slashes another maggot in half. The third, knowing no better, lunges at Manius, seeing him as just it's next food source, but just flops against his armour.

Anevia holds, clearly concerned that she's just going to be wasting arrows while trying to shoot in her posture.
OOC:

"There's one maggot in front of you..." Quaji gives out a few suggestions on how the warriors can deal with the enemy in front of them easily as he attempt to find out where they are by studying the cave itself. The rocks on the walls and on the ground might give clues.
OOC:

With the guidance from Quaji Manius skewers the last maggot swiftly, and calm returns to the cavern, except for Horgus who is still cowering behind someone.

Anevia lowers her bow. 'We should be alert, it seems the creatures below Kenebres are not the friendly kind. Even though those were a pushover, I doubt all will be.'
Jul 31, 2020 10:51 pm
Elias cleans his sword as best as he can. Walking back over to Anevia, Eli looks at her and her leg. The best that I can do right now is to splint that leg. I'm not going to lie, straightening it is going to hurt. Let me know when you're ready to start.

Elias looks around for materials to splint her leg.

Heal - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

Anevia pulls off her arm guard and places it in her mouth, before nodding she is ready. Eli is able to gather the materials needed from stuff which fell with them. As he sets the leg the scout clearly grimaces, but makes now sound as she bites down on her guard.

Quaji and Lariel you both recognise the name Tirabade as relating to the half-orc Irabeth Tirabade, a high ranking member of the Eagles watch group of crusaders. Quaji you realise Anevia is her rarely spoken of wife, and ex-adventurer who likes to stay out of the limelight.

You also both know Horgus Gwem as a very rich noble, who has his hands in quite a few pots. A few months ago he and some other nobles were accused of funding the wrong side, but he was cleared.

All you both know about Aravashniel is he is scholar.
OOC:
Quaji getting a tiny bit more due to using local, but not much.

Information is advantage but he won't reveal what he knows of the others yet.

"If big maggots and spiders dwell in this place. I might as well take out my grimoire." Quaji takes out a book and chants silent incantations to summon his 'dog'.

Láriel relaxes and lets out a sigh after the last maggot stops moving. "Get it together, girl. If I want to see my vengeance through, I need to steel myself and take control of as much as I can. The gnome had the right idea, we definitely need to work together to get out of here. Time to shine."

She confidently strides to Horgus' side and moves to cling to his arm loosely. "Oh my handsome Lord Gwerm, It's going to be okay. I promise we'll get out of here safely, Honey." She brings him in for a hug, making sure her assets are front and center. "But we'll need someone to lead us. They're but lost sheep and I'm certain that your nobility will be able to shine through."
OOC:
Láriel uses the Charm Hex (Will 16), then attempts Diplomacy to request his aid. She's banking on him realising the good press he'll receive for being lauded as a rescuer after such a brutal disaster.

Rolls

Diplomacy - (1d20+12)

(19) + 12 = 31

Elias finishes putting the splint around Anevia's leg. Judging that his work is satisfactory, he helps her stand. I'll help you walk as much as I can. Just lean on me and we can go to where the others are located.

As the duo hobbles to where the others are, Elias helps Anevia sit down. I apologize for the lack of introductions. I'm Sir Elias Van Brunt, a paladin of Imondae. Does anyone else require medical attention? Since we obviously can't go back the way we came, we're going to have to find a different route to the surface. Does anyone have any suggestions?

OOC:
At Kenes: Do you want me to control Grimoire. Up to you, I am fine with either. If so throw me a PM on rough personality, If not the summon goes ahead and he comes around at the end of this post.
Horgus noticeably puffs up as Lariel start paying attention to him. 'Why yes, as a noble I definitely and a leader, I can get us of of here.

Aravashniel jumps in 'Nobility means means nothing. I am better suited to lead because I am..well am used tot.. I am well read.'

'He means he is part of an organisation call the rift wardens that proclaim loudly about competence but don't do anything;'
Anevia cuts in as she leans on Elias.. 'Also I thank you for your offer but if there is something like a staff I can leave you free, instead of needing your support.

'that was not for you to say' The elf cuts in. 'But yes I have studied the demons and as long as someone is my eyes I can lead us out of here.'

kenesperanza sent a note to LightOfMidnight
Grimoire will like this place.

Quaji finishes the ritual. Darkness emerge out of the book forming Grimoire's body, a jet black panther with the book as its head. Shark like teeth grew from the pages of the book that formed the monster's mouth. A purple rune glows on the grimoire's 'cover', an identical rune that appears on Quaji's forehead.

"You like places like this, don't you?" Quaji asks Grimoire in a whisper. Grimoire hisses in response.

The others seem to be talking about leadership while he was summoning Grimoire.

"I can see well in this darkness if you need eyes." Quaji says as he pet grimoire who doesn't really want to be petted.
Aug 6, 2020 1:13 pm
Elias looks over at Anevia and smiles. I'll make you a deal, I'll help you walk until we find a suitable staff for you to use. Then you can make your own way.

Hearing the argument between Horgus and Aravashniel, Elias tosses in his opinion. It's obvious to everyone here that we can't return the way we came. So it seems an alternate route is needed. If the noble says he can lead us out and wants a chance to prove it, I say give him a chance. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work out and someone else tries.

Letting Anevia rest against the wall, Elias approaches Aravashniel. I've done what I can to help Anevia, will you allow me a chance to treat your injuries. Imondae hasn't blessed me with healing powers yet, but I can wash and cover the burns.
Aug 12, 2020 8:52 pm
Anevia manages a smile at Elais That sounds agreeable. And if you continue with your ways I am sue Iomedae will bless you with such. You hope to be a paladin?'

Horguses bravado immeadiatly dissapears as Grimoire appears, and he yelps before trying to hid before Lariel. 'What...what is that thing. You are working with the demons?!'

Anevia also seems on guard, gripping her bow, but recognising the creature is making no move towards them. Aravashniel also looks alert, though has no idea where to look
OOC:
Sorry Loudkid, I was almost finsihed writing this then recalled your post. With the planes check you will have heard of a group calling themselves the riftwardens who are looking into how to close the worldwound.
