Not holding things up at all. Haven't even heard from two of the players yet, so you're well ahead of the curve. :-)

I have just been thinking on different character types and checking out the new basic rules. This is different than from what I was used to. Going to start now.

Adjusting rolls by dropping the lowest.
13, 11, 12, 10, 9, 8.
Hmmm.....I think I will take the standard array as well. One quick question. Can we place the numbers as we wish or do we have to use them straight down the line?

You can place the numbers in whatever order you'd like.

Hopefully we have used up our poor roles! Only high rolls from here on out. *knocks on wood*

Lol I agree ghotifish.

@szemely if it's OK I would like to play an elven ranger.
Mar 27, 2016 8:52 pm
Elven Ranger is just fine!

I have submitted my character. I haven't bought equipment yet. So that is mostly blank. If you could look over it I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Once again, even though I'm looking over Tayleron Wildborn's sheet, everyone who's new to D&D should take a peek at this as well.

Inspiration: It should start at 0. Inspiration is kind of a neat mechanism in that it rewards good roleplaying with a bonus d20 to use at some point in the future. Say you have to make a tough decision at some point in the game and you stick with your character's Ideal or Bond even though it's not the most advantageous thing to do. That might get you a point of inspiration to use down the line.

Initiative: The initiative field is the same as your Dexterity modifier (+3 in your case). (Missed this on Morris' sheet)

Sub Race: Most of the races (other than humans) have sub-races. In the case of an elf you can choose between High Elf or Wood Elf. This will gain you a couple more traits, proficiencies, and an ability score increase (either Intelligence or Wisdom depending which you choose).

Equipment: You'll get free equipment based on your Class and Background selections. For a Ranger you can start with:
- (a) Scale mail or (b) Leather armor
- (a) Two short swords or (b) Two simple melee weapons
- (a) A Dungeoneer's Pack or (b) An Explorer's Pack
- A longbow and a quiver of 20 arrows.

Your Outlander background gets you a list of stuff as well (which you've already accounted for on your sheet).

Generally you'll get all of the equipment you need for free when you create your character.

Szemely - would it be alright for me to use the human varient that gives a starting feat and extra skill?
Mar 28, 2016 12:28 am
@ghotifish - Knock yourself out! :-)
Mar 28, 2016 10:17 am
Ok thanks for the input. I will add this all this evening.

@GamerDad - Nice to see you aboard. What type of character you looking to play?
@Epic_Cheese - Same question to you?

Sounds like we have a Halfling Druid, Elven Ranger, and a Human Fighter so far....

Alright, I think I have completed my character. All that's left is to come up with his backstory. If you could glance at it once again I would appreciate it.
Mar 29, 2016 12:15 am
I have submitted my character. I substituted javelins for handaxes because they felt more thematic to my background as a cavalry soldier. And I switched dice/cards for a dragonchess set, again same costs but I liked the fluff better. Hope those subs are OK. The soldier background says I need to work with the DM to determine my rank. Let me know what your thoughts are given my short background info.

@Cerris214 Looks like you still need to pick a sub-race (and get the +1 attribute bonus) and add some equipment, especially some armor and weapons.

@ghotifish Your character has been approved. I have no issues with the tweaking of equipment to better fit a player's vision for their character, your substitutions are fine. I liked the Nyugatran spy bit as well - I'm running a game called 'Kingdom of Birodalom' where the war between Kelet and Nyugatra directly affects the PCs in various ways. :-)

As far as rank you said that his lack of ambition kept him out of a leadership role, so let's assume wasn't an officer, but perhaps a first sergeant who was well liked (or not) by his men.

Quick look over your sheet and I'm not seeing anything missing...
Mar 29, 2016 4:37 am
@szemely awesome I was sure to read your feedback on the other PCs and it helped a lot. I'll update the rank, first sergeant is right where I was thinking. Looking forward to getting started!

The spy bit in the background felt like a good tie in to the setting you've laid out. Now I'm reading your other adventure!

Well like a newb I went and forgot to hit save after entering all the information. Thankfully I could move back and recover most of it. It should all be on there now. Along with armor and weapons.
