Back story for Thuron Galebreath

Thuron is 6' tall, weighs 12 stone, is slender and agile. He has dark brown hair, brilliant green eyes, and weathered, tanned skin. He is outgoing and wise for his 27 years, which stems from traveling the lands bordering the inner sea with a mage who tutored him in the ways of magic. He was discovered begging outside the library of a large city, and rescued from the streets. Since he demonstrated an inclination toward the arcane and history, he was drafted on as a hireling by a mage, who provided training and a small stipend as payment for his service. He spent his spare time aboard ship studying a mystical tome that was loaned to him by his mentor. While not a glory seeker, he desires power and the knowledge to use it to his advantage. He is accustomed to living a poor/modest lifestyle and managed to accumulate a weighty purse from his frugal ways.

One more quick question before things really get rolling. Does the proficiency bonus apply to AC as well? For example my character has scale mail ac 14 plus dex 2(max for scale) do you add proficiency bonus for medium armor use as well?

Question about Druid spells...

I'm pretty sure I understand the difference between spell slots (Chambers in the gun), and spells that are available to be cast (types of ammo that can go into the chambers of the gun).

On the character sheet do you want me to indicate the spells I've made available, and do you want me to update that (and you) after each long rest?

[Update]

Just looked at the sample character sheet for the sorcerer and I think I get it. Sort of. I just want to make sure I understand about druid spells known - Druids can prepare from the entire range of Druid spells (limited by their access to the spell's level), and except for cantrips are not limited to the spells they know in the way that Sorcerer's are. That's my understanding, but I'm totally prepared to be corrected.

No. Proficiency with an armor type simply allows you to wear armor of that type without suffering penalties. So Tayleron's scale mail will provide him with an AC of 16 (as you have on your sheet) but also cost him to roll at a Disadvantage when rolling Stealth (as described on the armor table).

I like that analogy. I'm totally going to steal that. :-)

Anyway, a first level Druid with Morris' Wisdom can prepare three different 1st level spells. Once you have second level spell slots available you can then choose between 1st and 2nd level spells to prepare. You should list each of your prepared spells under the "Spells" section of your character sheet. After a long rest you can choose to learn different spells and would simply change the list under the "Spells" section to reflect which spells you now have prepared.

I tend to list my spell slots under that location as well. Here's Medve Fa, my second level Druid, for comparison.

EDIT: I hope this answers your question. If not, just keep hitting me with 'em and we'll get it sorted.

Okay, that's pretty much how I thought it would be. I've made updates to my character sheet, I will be putting page numbers on the spells at some point (yeah that's a great idea)

Nice (more hooks for me, mwhuhahaahahha). Any thought as how he came to be living in Falu?

During their travels, the mage contracted a strange and aggressive ailment that was beyond Thuron's talents to cure. As they were near Falu, Thuron sought out Pap the wise for assistance in slowing the progression of the disease until they could make it to a large city and employ a healer. Unfortunately, it was discovered the mage had been poisoned and Pap was unable to slow his decline. The mage quickly spiraled into madness, running through the streets, wild-eyed, screaming nonsensical warnings about "the return". He died a short time later, apparently from eating nothing but stones and bark. He is now buried under a tree on the Csalad farm.

So, for Thuron (an L1 wizard), I know 3 cantrips (retained in memory) and have 2 L1 spell slots. I know 6 L1 spells, which are retained in my spellbook - yes? I may employ szemely's method for tracking which spells I have "at the ready".

While you have six spells in your spell book you must choose four of them (Level + INT Modifier) that you have to prepare in order to be used. You can change the list of the four you have prepared after a Long Rest. Basically you can't cast a spell just because it's in your book and you have an open slot to use. Pick four of the ones you think you're most likely to use.

ok, once more the dimmer bulb in the box, I'm allowed 4 L1 spells and 3 cantrips, or do cantrips count as spells? Checking intelligence for S&G

Rolls

Intelligence roll - (1d20+3)

(9) + 3 = 12

No, once you learn a cantrip you can pretty much use it at will (as an Action). No need to prepare them or have them in your spell book. Once you've picked your four first level spells you'll have your three cantrips and four prepared spells at your disposal.

I'm thinking a nature cleric or a bard, but I'll roll stats first.

Rolls

Stat rolls - (4d6, 4d6, 4d6, 4d6, 4d6, 4d6)

4d6 : (4122) = 9

4d6 : (3262) = 13

4d6 : (2625) = 15

4d6 : (4416) = 15

4d6 : (2446) = 16

4d6 : (5665) = 22

8, 11, 13, 14, 14, 17 - that's cool.

Leaning towards a Hill Dwarf Nature Cleric. I'll write that up but let me know if something else would fit better.

Approved.

So how did Mogguth come across the others in the Fak Woods? Is he from Falu like the others? Maybe he's from one of the villages that have been abandoned due to the war?
May 8, 2016 2:36 am
Made her a she.

Mogguth Barbedbraid is an astronomer, and had been bitten by the bug of rumors that a comet will soon appear. She has searched for information, which had lead her to a prophecy about a rising darkness. The foremost expert of which resides in this area.

Mogguth was looking for a hermit named Heddy Laopole, an expert on comets and other strange stellar omens. She found Heddy's house / observatory, but it had been destroyed. She is now scouting the surrounding area looking for signs of the attackers and hoping to find Heddy.

Mogguth had nearly given up when she found a trail.

Did you want me to narrate bursting onto the scene, or do you want to handle that, Szemely?
May 8, 2016 4:04 pm
You can handle that if you'd like - just assume the sounds of the fight drew your attention and you came to investigate...
May 8, 2016 11:07 pm
I didn't choose a specific nature deity. Let me know which one is appropriate from your setting. Otherwise, I'll choose one.
