Being on the other side of the alley, Jacob sees the waterworks building. A large structure with blackened windows at the top levels and an arched entry at street level where the Paladin and Ranger stand against a band of thugs. No view of pits from here. They must be inside the building.

Opening the hidden door in the alley slowly this time, Kit stealthily moves in past the lantern into a darkened corridor.

"Hey you cretins. You have a death wish? There is plenty who will take you on. Go directly in fools "

Duke leads Stormslayer into the din of torthlight into the outer chambers of the city building. It’s a lobby that has two stories and a circular hole in the floor to a lower level. Thugs surround the hole and yell and drink and shout out wagers.

They all appear to be offices with doors in both directions. The corridor seems to run in a large circle.

The girl that once came out the throes floor window returns to her ledge and looks down the face of the building. She makes motions like she is preparing to jump or crawl down to the second ledge. She hides from the eyes in the street, but is still unaware that Jacob and Kon watch
