It strikes the weapon and hauls it out of the blind toward you for 10 feet. The two dogs attack at your heels. They are trained well.

Rolls

first dog - (1d20+3)

(5) + 3 = 8

and the second - (1d20+3)

(3) + 3 = 6

The dogs miss and get thrown into the beaks and talons of the two eagles. One dies and the other gets hurt and runs provoked a reactionay attack by the eagles which finish off the predators.

The two pirates are unable to fire the balista without it being aimed wild by the thorn whip, so they pick up their armed and ready crossbows and shoot at you.

Rolls

first pirate - (1d20+1)

(4) + 1 = 5

second - (1d20+1)

(9) + 1 = 10

The bolts miss! You are still unharmed miraculously. What now?
Aug 14, 2020 6:10 pm

Rolls

and miss!. Nobody gets target points today... Your eagle flies up and launches itself at the two pirates, cutting their shoulders and heads. The pirates aim and fire again at the eagle attacking them.

... hit the eagle and it screams in pain from two bolts to its chest. You turn.
Aug 14, 2020 7:03 pm
Excellent! Ili slides out of my pocket and begins to chew through the rope that I failed to cut. The eagle and I decide to take to the skies in hopes of a better tactical advantage.
Aug 14, 2020 7:16 pm
The eagle is in melee (hand to talon) range of pirates. If it leaves to try to fly, it will provoke an opportunity attack by pirates. You are further back, unless you try to mount eagle and then the same thing applies to you.
Aug 14, 2020 7:19 pm
Ili will take two round to chew the rope

Sorry, I somehow missed your last two responses before I made mine. Oops!
Aug 14, 2020 9:28 pm
I cast Entangle in a line toward the pirates, to attack or distract them, and then prepare to launch another bolt from my crossbow.

Casting your spell in front of you, the vines still come up in a 20 foot square area right under the pirates.

Rolls

STR saves against being restrained by vines - (1D20, 1d20)

1D20 : (20) = 20

1d20 : (16) = 16

Aug 14, 2020 11:58 pm
They both saved against your spell DC of 12. They are in difficult terrain to get out. You notice that the previous patch of vines that you were concentrating on but stopped to concentrate on the new spell, has disappeared.

The pirates are still faced with the giant eagle so they fire.

Rolls

Pirates Crossbow attack - (1D20+1, 1D20+1)

1D20+1 : (14) + 1 = 15

1D20+1 : (9) + 1 = 10

One more bolt hit eagle. He screams and claws the pirates. And they fall unconscious.

The monkey has freed the grounded eagle. Both eagles are too hurt to fly.
What do you do?
Aug 15, 2020 1:14 am
I run over to the eagle with bolt wounds and cast cure wounds on her. Ili scampers over to check the pirates for valuables. I will use my next turn to snare the pirates in their ballista net.

You are out of initiative and so at your own pace you may do all these things. However, as you try to call upon nature’s spirit to cast healing power onto the eagle, your power fails you. Then you remember you have already cast entangle twice and maybe you didn’t actually cast animal friendship because he was already friendly. You have never before cast more than two spells in a day. But you try again, concentrating very hard. Your heart goes out to the eagle, his eyes filled with pain. You apologize to his great spirit that you can do no more, your own heart breaking with the suffering of this innocent animal. Then it happens. You achieve a new level as a Druid. With it comes another spell slot and the cure wounds spell sends healing power through your hands into the giant eagle, curing him completely of his wounds. With that your power is spent again. The pirates are lifted of 6 jewels, a small painted portrait of a pretty girl, a vial of silvery fluid, some hard tack and a sea shell with a rune on it. You bind them and feed Ili some of the hard tack. The other eagle is loose but still it’s wing is injured.
