Set up for Vadimir (don't peek in)

Marcus checks the map of the city and contemplates on a plan. He can use this chaos but he hesitates to put his crew and the people of his city at risk. Thus he plan to mastermind the efficient extermination of the Voidlings with the primary goal of minimizing casualties to citizens. But to do that, he'd have to know first hand what they are dealing with and he is not exactly an expert in this gig.

Marcus divides his crew into groups.

The first one will go with him to deal with the voidlings and also to procure the rare substances.

Second group is assigned on arming the citizenry with information and getting the people to safety. The messaging is simple, Marcus Avenir is protecting the people.

Third group is assigned to containing the incidence to a small area, by scouting and aiding the exterminators. He instructs his men to make sure the exterminators don't get in his way, deceiving them to go to other locations if they have to.

If his group ever meet with the exterminators he'd just have to cut a deal where he asks them to work with him instead.
Aug 21, 2020 3:19 pm
Marcus organises and sends out his teams. Once the group that was tasked with distraction is sent ahead, he goes with his group to advance forth after some time has passed. The streets are dark and lit up only by the leaning electric lamps along the cracked roads. The people are not seen around, as warnings of the Void Leak has been spread.

The church is just ahead. Signs of corrosion is scattered in the area, as if someone was splashing powerful acid about. There is no one outside of it. Your group approach the entrance, and the building look like a gothic catholic church, except that instead of angels or saints, dragons of all body shapes are decorated everywhere on it. You step through, and the atmosphere becomes heavy, as if the dark air has a different weight, although there is no smell except for hints of blood.

Here, you can see the pews in different states of damage as the stone ground is also melted, broken and blackened. Ahead of you, half of the floor is broken through, exposing a pitch-black basement below. You then see a flash of light and a woman's voice coming from the hole. "Hey! There is more of them here! Die, Ink-Shitters!"

One of your men then comments. "Oh crap, the exterminators are still here. I think those black materials are the leftovers of the Voidlings this time. Hopefully they are safe to pocket..."
OOC:
I'll say that you are decently equipped for this. As in, you have torchlights, bags, and any other tools that are reasonable to take along. Also, you gain 1xp for finding the location of the Dragon Church.
Aug 22, 2020 2:39 am
Marcus commands his team to stay in formation.

"Those exterminators can deal with the enemy for now, let's take it slow and gather what we can gather from here before descending." He says to the crew as he manage what each and everyone of his crews role is.

He assigns someone to pit the black materials in tha bag carefully. He assigns some to check ahead and others to watch their backs as they move forward.

If the Voidlings are winning, Marcus will put his chips on assisting them as reinforcements. If the exterminators are winning, well it's still safe to come as reinforcement from the people who lost their homes. He'll negotiate after the battle and command his crew.

One guy went to use tongs to pick up the black solids and place them into the bag that can be made to be airtight and waterproof. It seems to be similar to burnt ash, except it is not as brittle.

Two went ahead to look into the hole, careful not to fall through. While they watch, a couple more flashes are seen, and the voices of a man and woman can be heard as they order around each other.

The two then return to report to you that the exterminators are equipped with strange bulky gear that can shoot bright light. They can't see the Voidlings well, but they believe they small and fast-moving as they flee during the flashes. The two exterminators seem to be searching through the basement chamber and the side rooms of it, looking for more Voidlings to kill. They seem to be handling themselves decently, but appears slightly exhausted. One of your men comments that they are likely standing their ground and waiting for backup from individuals who have the ability to seal up the Leaks, or Reality Tears.

Meanwhile, the two last men with you are standing guard at the entrance to look out for anyone coming. None seems to be so far.
OOC:
Alright, so you're going down? What might your plan of action would be? Would you try to look for a safe way down, or rappel? Would you warn them of your arrival, or sneak down? What formation might you take? By the way, your men are considered to be fairly vulnerable if they have to face enemies.
Aug 24, 2020 1:50 am
We can't face the unknown enemies and we're just here to aid and gather valuable materials.

Marcus weighs on how they are going to proceed. He decides to minimize casualty by sending home some of his crew and the materials they got before looking for a way down. Stairs would be best. He'll send scouts ahead while the rest are in battle formation with him. He stays at the center for safety and ease of command. The muscles are in the front to be the group's vanguards, the perceptive ones are at the back as rearguards. He commands the scouts to not engage with the enemy and retreat back to the group in case of danger.
Aug 25, 2020 3:38 pm
Two men prepare to carry back their decent haul of bags stuffed with the material.

Then a formation is made of two in front and one behind you. One scout is sent ahead to search for stairs down. She reports that she finds one next to the collapsed altar behind fallen rafters. She then proceeds down as you wait for her turn. A scream is then heard coming from her in the winding staircase. At its entrance, the scent of rot is stronger.

It's your turn now. Would you go ahead to go down the stairs? Or stand back and study.

"Ugh! This stench." This new life takes some getting used to and he had to admit to himself that this is more than what he signed up for. Well there's no reward without risks and it is his duty to appear composed infront of his underlings otherwise if his crew gets out of control they might get decimated.

"Stand your ground and stay vigilant. Let us proceed cautiously." He then command his crew to take a more defensive formation with the back line aiming their weapons at whatever it is that lurks beyond.

"Shoot hostile target. You take down its legs, you aim for its head." He commands as he continue to observe what it is that his crew must face now.

"Fear and excitement are the same demon. Don't get too cocky." He reminds them.
OOC:
Sorry for the delay. I'll just make a roll for his commands or observation.
I'm using Spin Encouragement(INT 1) to boost his crew's defense.

You speak your words of encouragement as your group passes through the debris and descends down into the dark. The person in the back has a torchlight in hand, and so shines it to see well in getting down the stairs. Then, you see that the female scout you sent is trying to fight against a moving patch of darkness that is standing over the badly decomposed corpse that is slump on the stairwell.

You watch as they exchange blows with each other. The scout manages to slash with her combat knife at the creature that is trying to avoid the light from her own torch, and the shadow in turn lashes out at her, causing the scout's body to appear darker.
OOC:

He commands the scout to retreat, to lure the enemy in a wider area towards his crew and then commands the front liners to flank the enemy.

"Back line aim your light at this freak. Front line distract and destroy." Fighting is not his forte but if he had to defend himself, he's got his submachine gun ready and aimed at the monster. Marcus trusts his crew can handle this as he is confident in his ability to lead them.

Given the chance when it is distracted and an opening is created by the back line's light and the front line's distraction, he'd shoot the monster down and signal the rest to follow.

At your command, the scout retreats away to your group, causing the monster to lash out as she turns. She winches in pain, but makes it pass the 2 frontliners that charge forth and aim to pummel at it with their crude weapons.

The Shadow creature give a pained hiss as it collapses under the shower of violence. As the front men back away, the light from the torch reveals that the monster is seemingly gone.

As that happens, you hear the distant voices of the people at the level below. Then, the air seems to grow somewhat dustier.
OOC:
I am deciding to have attacks of opportunities if you're moving from a melee fight. Also, if you want, you could make a perception roll as you continue down, but tell me what you're looking for if you do so.

"Patch her up." He commands someone to heal the wounded scout as he tries to reflect on what just happened in order to understand the enemy they just faced.
OOC:
Can I still use Understanding even though the enemy is gone?
"Stay vigilant, there are folks downstairs. It would be better to group up with them." He says with confidence as he signal his crew to move forward as soon as they finish patching up the scout.

"We're here to investigate and take, not to subjugate. Prioritize defense." He tells the vanguards as they move forward and down while looking around for others and signs of danger.

OOC:
ok, I'll count it as you're reflecting on what you saw from memory. Oh, and nice nat 20!
The one watching from the back tries to clean up and bandage the wound, despite that it is somewhat an unnatural one and may not be fully healed. As that happens, the tougher bodyguards stand around to watch the perimeter as you reflect on the monster that you saw.

It is cleary not a natural creature. It's size is that of a small child, and its form is cloudy and can form tendril-like appendages. It looks like it is attached to the corpse, perhaps feeding on it as the scout came by. It seems to react afraid of the light, or perhaps it is intelligent enough to attempt to remain in darkness as it fights. The way that it disintegrates from the assault of crowbar and hammer reveals that it has no real solid body, maybe even ghost-like. There is also a possibility that it may not be really dead, and is hiding somewhere, but atleast your group is not being harassed at the moment.

The scout is now patched up, but your watcher wants to tell you something. "I did what I could, sir, but she still is in pretty bad shape. Judging by how she complained to me about numbness, and how her flesh and clothing has turned black at her wounds, the Leakage that is happening here is caused by essense-vampire types. I am not a professional, only knowing bits and pieces, but these alien demons can do significant damage to a reality if not removed properly. However, the risk is somewhat worth the reward, as they can alter matter quite easily, giving us a good amount of unnatural resources to harvest from."
OOC:
You get 1xp from learning a bit about what you're facing, and defeating it, albeit indirectly.

As you move on with the group, the feeling of slight vibrations can be felt, as well as the haunting sounds of inhuman groans. As you are reaching the basement level, you can see the flashing of lights lighting up the level's chamber from the strange weapons of the exterminators.
OOC:
I'll let you make any reactions you want, then I'll have you join up with the main party's thread, as you are about to meet each other.
