Tears, if you're going for your Herrscher build, I'll pack a bit more healing into my build. I already snagged alchemy and salve (blood potion is awesome!), so dumping a feat or two into using the heal skill wouldn't be a bad idea. It'd be mostly out of combat healing, but that isn't a major pain.
I could go Bluhen instead. Can the Eliciter heal?

Best the class can do is give temp hp and buff, but some life sphere can compensate for that.

I managed to do some minor reworking to make good use of the heal skill (and with the medics satchel, it's really easy to medkit the whole team), so there isn't a major concern in healing. Buffs and debuffs, however, would be a bigger use. Eliciter would be fantastic for that.

I could be a Dark Presence Eliciter. This would allow me to specialize in the War sphere, which has a dual sphere feat with Life. Rallying and invigorating at the same time sounds like tremendous action economy, I'm sure I can create something big from here.

So yeah, I'm going full supporter/buffer healer on this one, you can leave the healing to me ;)

Oh yeah, Dark Presence is pretty solid for using war sphere debuffs.

With that in mind, I'll still back you up on out of combat healing (I can take Zodiac Tattoo next level lol).

Speaking of, are we starting at level 10 or 11?
Aug 9, 2020 10:17 pm
Tears, I believe it is level 10.
Aug 9, 2020 10:21 pm
Aww, the big jackpot of my build is at level 11 ;-;

LOL. Isn't that the way it always is..

I need to pick a new thought for my barbarian... Originally it was bar/rog... then I went for intimidation.. and now.. Hmmm

Ok guys, I locked a concept:

https://i.imgur.com/Tg3EUoV.png

Mechanically she's a human Dark Presence Eliciter, specialized in buffing allies, debuffing enemies, and healing. Her strength lies in the fact that she has exceptionally good action economy, so there's never going to be a turn in which she's not contributing something. Her bread and butter is to completely lock down enemies by using mind-affecting effects, but she also has multiple ways of making her companions stronger, so even against mind-immune enemies she's going to have something to fall back on. Below the build I have in mind so far:
[ +- ] Build
In terms of fluff, I was thinking the idea could be this: you guys are long-time friends, adventurers who've worked together for a LONG time. One day you find this lost, wounded, amnesiac little girl, and decide to take her to your HQ in order to help her: it soon becomes apparent that a) she's shockingly well-trained for combat, considering her very young age and b) she has serious troubles processing emotions... And when her emotions go haywire some ridiculous power is unleashed. So you decide to keep her around because, well, the alternative is letting such an unstable girl wander around alone, and so the campaign begins: the modules we'll play could be various missions you'll take on as part of your job (with the girl tagging along), but there could also be an overreaching plot of "investigating the truth about the girl". I myself don't know what this truth would actually be, I'm gladly leaving this to the DM in order to be genuinely surprised: ideally, this truth should tie into whatever major villain whose plans we end up thwarting. In many ways such a narrative structure would be similar to how Fairy Tail works, dunno if you're familiar with that manga.

Anyway, how do you guys (both players and DM) feel about doing something like this? For me this would be the biggest challenge in my career as roleplayer: playing an emotionally insecure child with an ambiguous disorder (played seriously). I was actually thinking her alignment could start out as True Neutral, and then evolve over time as she spends time with the party and her personality is influenced by them.

Such a sweety... I think I'm going bar/rog again

Question: If I take Deft Maneuvers to get the benefits and already have Improved Dirty Tricks and Greater Dirty Tricks from my Archetype.. can I sub out Improved Dirty tricks and take a like feat that uses Dirty tricks?

I would actually direct you to take a look into the scoundrel sphere, where all the fun dirty trick toys are in SoM. Just a FYI, if you get a feat that has a talent equivalent (and you have the base sphere), you can 'trade in' for the talent, which can be very handy in some occasions.

Otherwise, you may be looking at some retraining shinagins.

On a side note - keep in mind that I've rolled up a tanky "berserker" sort (bloodbinder armorist), with some backup healing. Sort of a more literal blood rager (with a lot of emphasis on the blood part), to be more accurate lol. While I'm not too concerned about overlapping much (I'm barely using the berserker sphere - feel free to lean into that a lot), I want to make sure we're on the same page.

Side note - you may want to look into Painted Savage Barbarian. It's one of the better archetypes for barb, even for trading in rage (it gets something way better).

I'm taking martial tradition thief. I get Scoundrel and Fencing sphere with that. Looking at Untamed archetype...

So wait, se essentially have two rogues?
Aug 10, 2020 11:09 am
Combat Rogue would be the type and I have no idea what type of rogue you would be.

Not me. The Librarian hasn't posted here in a couple days, but last we heard from them they were building a character that was a de facto rogue. In fact, in many ways their character had the potential to be "like a rogue, but better", as often is the case with sphere classes built to emulate Paizo classes, so yeah, I definitely recommend talking to them, because... Well, because if you end up being specialized in doing three things, and then it turns out another party member can do those three things better than you AND has also other options, that's not going to be very fun for you, now is it?

Again, the crux of the issue here is that Librarian hasn't really been involved in the conversation ever since you joined, so they might have taken their character in a different direction, or dropped it altogether, or they simply haven't given it much thought because they were busy doing something else: either way, you should definitely try and get in touch with them.

Sorry I've been having intern issues. Yes rogue is what I was going for, the shadow hoping stabby kind. I have been having internet issues and don't have access to my physical books. Can I build with just the links you posted?
