[Dylan] Shadow Bard of Newtown

Aug 3, 2020 2:20 pm
You woke up with a terrible hangover from dreaming of getting dumped by Veronica but instead of waking up in your room, you woke up in a room in a wooden cabin. Not the cabin you've been to earlier, this one's well maintained. You are in someone's bed but there's no one beside you. It's a simple room with nothing more than a bed, a drawer, a sidetable with a lamp on top of it.

Your not sure what time it is but it is afternoon. Outside the window, you can see the forest and a few other cabins.

There's a note on the side table saying.

"If you're hungry there's food on the table. I'll be at the adventurer's guild."
Aug 4, 2020 11:51 am
Adventurers guild eh? I don't know where that is. Where am I anyway? What happened?

There are a lot of questions in Dylan's mind right now but his break up last night with Veronica still lingers in his mind like a picture he can not erase. Dylan shakes his head and gets out of bed. He checks outside the window and looks around the room for hints on where he is, who's house did he end up in.

Should I wait or should I go out?

He contemplates on what to do next. He understands that this is now his reality and that he must adjust.

I might as well walk around town, maybe I can get some clue.

Dylan walks out of the cabin and locks the door behind him.
Aug 5, 2020 12:19 pm
Looking outside there are trees, other wooden cabins, gardens and backyard farms. There are other people, humans and those that aren't exactly humans like anthropomorphic beings, elves, and gnomes.

Looking around the room, you found no clue aside from it's minimal and neat. You did see a quiver of arrows and a bow in the living room.

Dylan walks outside of the house,
to the left the cabins get fewer and there are more trees,
to the right buildings get bigger and denser.

The people around doesn't mind you.

Where's the Adventurer's guild? Dylan asks himself.

Dylan approaches someone and asks. "Excuse me, can I ask where the adventurer's guild is?"

Goblins, beast men, faeries, gnomes, and now an 'adventurers guild'?

You ask someone, a slender man who's got the head of a dog, a black labrador, dressed in simple farm clothes. You understand that this person belong to a race called dogkin.

"You gotta walk this path straight and then turn left..." The dog-man gives you a detailed yet simple instruction on how to get where you wanted to go. He says that Newtown's quite small and that you wouldn't miss it.

"New to Newtown?" The dog-man asks.
Aug 6, 2020 11:03 am
"Thank you sir. Indeed I am new to this town." Dylan replies courteously with a smile as he try his best to recall the directions he was given. He repeats the directions back to the dog-person just to check if he remembered it correctly.

"Might I ask another question sir..." He shows a worried look in his face.

"Is there a place for an aspiring musician like me in this town, somewhere where I can perform?" Dylan asks.

"Ah, an aspiring bard I see. There's a watering hole in town called Sunrise Tavern. Matter of fact I'm on my way there. Care to join me?" The dogkin says with a cordial smile and a pat on Dylan's shoulder.
OOC:
If you want to join the dogkin on a walk, roll routine persuasion. you can ask him one question per degree success DC 10.

"Would be glad to." Dylan smiles as he accept the kind dogkin's offer to walk with him to Sunrise Tavern.

"I'm Dylan by the way, you are." He introduces himself, offering his hand for a handshake.

As they walk towards the bar, Dylan would ask about...

A. the blue goblin extermination, how the blue goblin captain was slain
B. Newtown, what's going on around Newtown

The dogkin introduces himself as Falca Furoro, a farmer. He's headed for the tavern for obvious reasons, to get a drink.

Falca says that though the adventurers were able to slay the blue goblin captain that turned into a monstrous snake, they did so at the cost of losing four adventurers. The head of the guild regrets his decision of sending D rank adventurers thinking that it would just be a walk in the park since the enemies were just goblins.

Falca introduces you to Newtown, says there's nothing much going on around this place. Newtown is a village connecting the main land to the Bezelbebe peninsula where the Bezelbebe forest is. Newtown's a place that thrives on fishing and forestry. Also, its a town responsible for protecting the forest of Bezelbebe.
You arrive at the Sunrise Bar. It is more vintage than the usual bar where Dylan performs and in the afternoon, there aren't much patrons in Sunrise. Most seats are empty. The place is quiet. Falca tells you that people will come a little later.

Falca sits on a chair and asks for a pint of ale.

Aside from Falca there's only one other guest in the bar. A lady drinking beer alone on one corner.

"Thanks for bringing me here Falca." Dylan shakes the dogkin's hand as a sign of sincere appreciation.

"I'm gonna ask the barkeep if I can perform here or borrow some instrument." He tells Falca.
Afterwards, Dylan approaches the bar.

"Excuse me, might I ask for a small favor. I'm kind of in a tight spot right now so I was thinking if I could perform here tonight?" Dylan asks the barkeep.

The Barkeep is Helpful. He may take risks to help or protect you.
"Good to here there are still performers who'd come visit Newtown. Sure I'd even lend you some instruments if you need em."

The barkeep asks the other workers in Sunrise Tavern to help out set a stage where you can perform and also gave you some instruments they found in the store room. The instruments were a bit dusty that the crew had to clean them first. There's some bongos, a lute, a harp, and even a marimba. Instruments in the other world don't differ from instruments on earth. These instruments are not used for some time, Dylan may need to tune them before he can use them.

"Give us a good performance tonight will ya." The barkeep says.

"Play something cheerful. The day's been quite gloomy." Falca suggests.
Aug 13, 2020 5:05 am
"I'll try." He says and smiles.

The bongos and the lute, he can use those. Can he use his shadow tentacles to play instruments while singing? He had to try, but he should first tune the lute, it's been in the stockroom for so long, it must be out of tune. Dylan takes his time to tune the lute. He starts practicing songs by famous bands back on earth.

Practice Set: Yellow by Coldplay.
For Dylan the song's romantic, something he would sing for Veronica.

He plays the song with his hands on the lute and the shadow tentacles on the percussions.

Add expertise in music and PRE.
It took some time before Dylan could tune the lute. He practiced singing, playing the lute and playing the drums at the same time while singing the song. The few audience are enthralled by the practice set, some of the passersby outside caught interest of the music and started to enter the Sunrise tavern. More audience, more customers for the tavern, and more customers makes the barkeep happy.

The audience applauds Dylan's performance.

"What's the name of that song?" Asks a tiny humanoid, a gnome, from the audience.
Aug 14, 2020 10:14 am
"Yellow, it's from a musician where I was from." Dylan tells the gnome as he prepare for his first set. There are more people now so maybe if he did well in tonight's performance he'd be able to get free food and maybe some money that'd allow him to afford accomodation.

"Thank you all for being here this amazing evening at Sunrise tavern. My name's Dylan and tonight I'm gonna be here to entertain you while you all enjoy your evening." Enthuse the audience and make them feel relaxed, that's what he was taught back home, hopefully it works here too.

Dylan prepares to play his first set of original songs and some other love songs by famous bands. Hopefully they sound good on [ COMMON ] translation. Dylan strums his lute and starts to play songs for his first set this evening. Might as well use healing song too, maybe it would help the patrons stave off the effect of intoxication for some time. The longer they stay sober, the more booze they'd order, the better the sales and exposure, right?

Performance (First Set) - (1d20+7)

Your first set was successful, more patrons came and the patrons who are around are enjoying their booze. They won't get drunk easy because of your songs and they are happy, at least for this moment, they could just enjoy food, ale, and music without worry for their lives. The barkeep and the tavern's staff are busy, serving the guests, but you can see in their faces that they appreciate what you are doing for them.

Your first sent ended and the guests gladly tossed a coin for your performance. (+2 equipment points)

You have to take a break from performing for now. The bar owner offered you beer and some food as compensation.

The gnome who asked the question earlier approached you.

"Nice performance, you know, I heard Count Clauster's looking for entertainers for a ball he's hosting this week. You may want to apply, I heard the count's quite a generous patron." The gnome said.
Aug 14, 2020 1:54 pm
A few moments after your performance, a blue skinned individual approaches you. You notice he wears clothes more common on earth than in Newtown. You also notice he has horns and a tail.
Qralloq says:
Rama approaches the man. "You made it back. I saw you at the goblin settlement, but fell unconscious before I could do much to help." He looks around at the crowd.

"My name is Rama. I'm a dancer, from Earth. I came here to hear you play, with an idea that we could see if we could combine our acts."
OOC:
Please post reply on Rama's thread.
Aug 14, 2020 2:48 pm
"I'll consider it." Dylan replies to the gnome with a smile. A chance to perform for a noble man would be nice.

Learning that there are thieves on the loose, Dylan's eager to test out his new powers. He'll excuse himself from the barkeep, say he's only out to get some air.

"What did the devil say about those thugs? They were at the park right?" The bard says. He'll walk to the park as he whistle the last song he was playing at the tavern earlier.
Aug 17, 2020 5:15 am
"Ah, so the bard decides to give his money to us willingly." Dylan hears someone say. Because he can see in the dark quite well, he saw three people hiding in the darkness. All three of them are humans, and they are armed. One has a dagger, the one has a club, the third one's got a sword.

"Come on now bard, if you want your life intact you better give us all earnings you got." Another guy says. You see them three move. They are going on different directions and they plan to flank you.
Aug 17, 2020 5:46 am
"Three versus one eh, this is hardly fair for any of you then." Dylan smirks.

Dylan walks with his hands on his pockets. Confident that he can deal with these three thugs with the new powers he got. Once close enough he'd attack the enemies with his pitch black tendrils and grapple them. He aims to subdue these criminals as quick as possible.
He doesn't want to kill them though. He can turn them in for a reward or maybe he can convince these three to change their ways. But that is after beating them up.
OOC:
Move: Move close enough so his tentacles can reach the enemy
Action: Shadow tentacles attack the enemies and (fast grab) them and knock them out (chokehold).
