so I'm debating starting up a short term game on GP just to get used to the system and controls and understand how to run a PBP game before 7th sea comes out (I'm still totally calling this). what games are popular? who wants to play what? please, no more D&D.

There's a lot of interest in Cypher games, though I will find players for whatever you want to run.

I'm not too sure/thrilled about cypher, actually. if that's the only options though I'll see about getting a hold of the books

I'm always in favor of GMing what you want to GM, and the players will come :) Remember, you're not limited to running something I have coded; you can run a custom game and use the custom sheet until I get the game developed.

D&D 5e, Cypher, and Pathfinder are sure bets. Pretty much anything else is a sure bet too, honestly, just may take a bit longer to get it started up.

Well since you're running and would probably want to have fun too what systems do you want to run or try running? Would it be more hack and slash or more narrative? Throw up your list of settings or systems with general premise and see who bites man.

You can also set up your game with a small number of players (2-3, for example) and establish the expectation that it's basically a one-shot to become familiar with PBP. Run the game you want to run, and the players should show up.

That's the important thing right there...run what you wanna run. It's no fun if the GM isn't enjoying themselves, too.

as a trial run I guess I could run some pregenerated adventures for Mage: the awakening. the series of adventures is all about gathering some very powerful magical artifacts that the Seers of the Throne are also seeking. any interest in that? or should I make a separate thread announcing it? I'm new to all of this...

Don't fret darthoingoboingo! I'd probably make a different thread announcing it once you have an idea of how you want to go at it. You can do that before you make a game to drum up interest, or after you make the game to bring people straight in!

Never played Awakening...I always played Ascension. I'd be down to give it a try...

ok, I will check my book case when I get home to see if I have the hard copy of the adventures and I'll post a new thread.
