Gimblyn spreads from his illusions, their movements copying his own. The forest gnome points his staff high as it glows with a blue-white light. He firmly points his brewing magic at the disoriented orge, then realizes a frigid ray of frost at the creature.

Rolls

Ray of Frost - (1d20+6, 1d8)

1d20+6 : (1) + 6 = 7

1d8 : (5) = 5

Wild Magic - (1d20)

(16) = 16

Gimblyn trips a little bit over a rock on the ground, causing his magic to miss its target.
OOC:
Xora's turn! She has an orc on her right now.
Oct 31, 2016 12:26 pm
Xora drops her bow and takes a swing at the orc with her staff, but the beast easily blocks her attack.
OOC:
Enemy Turn!
The ogre angrily raises his club again, bringing it down on the head of one of Gimblyn's illusions, causing it to pop out of existence.

The orc facing Xora swings its axe at her, but she uses her staff to force the axe up high and it misses, clearing her head by barely an inch.
OOC:
Back to your turn!
Oct 31, 2016 1:35 pm
Stormsong crushes a couple of small items from one of his pouches and sings a few strange phrases, then addresses the ogre using a calm, rational voice, in the tongue of the giants, "Walk back to the land you came from because the she-ogres miss you and they have lots of food for you to eat."
OOC:
DC 13 WIZ save

Suggestion

Casting Time: 1 action; Range: 30 feet; Components: V, M (a snake’s tongue and either a bit of honeycomb or a drop of sweet oil); Duration: Concentration, up to 8 hours

You suggest a course of activity (limited to a sentence or two) and magically influence a creature you can see within range that can hear and understand you. Creatures that can’t be charmed are immune to this effect. The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the course of action sound reasonable. Asking the creature to stab itself, throw itself onto a spear, immolate itself, or do some other obviously harmful act ends the spell. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, it pursues the course of action you described to the best of its ability. The suggested course of action can continue for the entire duration. If the suggested activity can be completed in a shorter time, the spell ends when the subject finishes what it was asked to do. You can also specify conditions that will trigger a special activity during the duration. For example, you might suggest that a knight give her warhorse to the first beggar she meets. If the condition isn’t met before the spell expires, the activity isn’t performed. If you or any of your companions damage the target, the spell ends.

At Stormsong's words, the ogre stops his rampage and thinks for a moment, "Me leave now, go home, maybe crush you later."
Oct 31, 2016 4:23 pm
Kama closes the distance to the orc harassing Xora, swinging his longsword for the knees.
OOC:
By my count, this is the only orc in combat left, and he wasn't touched by Faerie Fire?

Rolls

Talon vs Orc, Damage - (1d20+6, 1d10+4)

1d20+6 : (16) + 6 = 22

1d10+4 : (4) + 4 = 8

CancerMan says:
Kama closes the distance to the orc harassing Xora, swinging his longsword for the knees.
OOC:
By my count, this is the only orc in combat left, and he wasn't touched by Faerie Fire?
OOC:
Correct!
Kama is able to make short work of the last remaining orc and the ogre wanders away into the mountains.
OOC:
Combat is over, unless you guys want to attack the ogre for some reason. You all gain 350 exp!
Oct 31, 2016 4:33 pm
Kama rests against his sword, taking deep breaths. "What do we do about the last one?" he asks, referring to their prisoner.
Oct 31, 2016 11:19 pm
"My preference would be to send him back as a warning to others, but that may result in a full scale invasion..."

Not liking where this thread of logic is leading, he proposes, "We could bring him with us back to Phandalin -- didn't they attack miners or caravans on the road?"
Nov 1, 2016 12:14 am
"I'm not sure," replies Kama. "The townmaster told us of the threat and where to find them, but I wasn't really paying attention. The orc is still our prisoner, so I agree about bringing him back to town. They can hold a trial and see to his rehabilitation."
Nov 1, 2016 12:41 am
The illusions' voices echoing his own, he spoke on the subject . "I swear, he needs to be nurtured to the goodness within him... But who do you trust to give him a fair trail?" losing focus, his spells pop out of existence. "I can't see the tested people of Phandalin as accepting as we might hope." Gimblyn looks at his tall companions and a slight mischievous smile hinted on his face, "I say we just let him go! We freed him of his foul crew and no we can free him from us... What do you guys say, I swear?"
Nov 1, 2016 12:51 am
"I'm open to that. Bringing him back to town may be equivalent to a death sentence that is still, if indirectly, on our hands. Besides, he was helpful. By the way, what's the loot situation? Does chief orc have anything good?"
Nov 1, 2016 2:06 am
"Have a go," says Kama, encompassing the bodies and the cave with a sweep of his arm. "I'm going to check on the survivor." He makes his way back to where they left the bound orc.
Nov 1, 2016 2:13 am
"Should we check the cave as well?"

Stormsong picks through the bodies, and explores the cave.

Rolls

Perception, investigation - (1d20+1, 1d20-1)

1d20+1 : (13) + 1 = 14

1d20-1 : (15) - 1 = 14

Stormsong doesn't find much else on the orcs besides their weapons and armor, but finds an unlocked chest in the cave. Inside of the chest is 750 cp, 180 sp, 62 ep, 30 gp, and three vials of perfume.
Nov 3, 2016 4:28 pm
Kama goes to check on the bound orc and finds that he has been crawling like a worm and is about 20 feet from where you left him. He looks very panicked when he sees Kama coming to check on his and begins wiggling away slightly faster than before.
Nov 3, 2016 4:34 pm
Kama kneels next to Glop, planting the bloodied tip of Talon into the ground next to him. "You must have heard the fight," he calmly says in Orcish, leaning his sweaty face in close. "Brughor and the others are dead, Gog no more. Which now begs the question: what do we do with you?"
Nov 7, 2016 4:37 pm
The orc's eyes widen and he shakes his head wildly, worm-crawling a couple more feet away.
Nov 7, 2016 5:08 pm
Kama bites his lip to refrain from a chuckle, but he clamps a hand on the orc's ankle and drags him back to continue their conversation. "I'm not finished," he says, Orcish tongue emphasizing each syllable. "Let's be clear. You might see this blade and think, the half-breed killed them all. And you'd be wrong; I just took out one of your buddies.

So you'd think, the giant one looks strong, he must have smashed them! Again, not true, but he did get a few good licks in. The dragon? She must have ate them! Almost, but honestly you're not her type.

Wait, that just leaves the little one? Yeah. You remember the little guy? Slapped you around a bit, asked you weird questions? Well, I don't know if you noticed, but he's a little crazy. Okay, not a little; he's totally crazy. You heard that big boom? That was HIM.

Now look, I don't have much time. I got him distracted over there picking through Brughor's intestines looking for... whatever it is he wants; it ain't pretty. But soon he's going to remember that you're still around.

So you and me, we're practically related, right? I'd like to let you go, let you run off before the gnome decides he wants to wear you for undergarments. But I don't want to hear about you harassing the nice people from Phandalin over yonder, especially since the little one's got big ears and kinda lives around there.

Understand what I mean? No seriously, do you understand?"
Kama prepares to free the orc, should it comply with the threat.
