And that leave Keekik to check the helm and maybe the captains hatch. They hoped to find more charts, of course But on the look out for anything of interest. There was a little worry for splitting up, the scene below perhaps giving them a feeling of dread. It was a brutal thing.

OOC:
Side note: AvDc, you don't get a base 1 die for a roll, just what your edges, skills and aspects give you. So your roll would only be 4D6, not 5. Doesn't change the result, though. Let's go through it bit by bit.
Tektek goes to where the engine has been sawed out of the ship, hoping to find some surviving remains of the ship's propulsion that he might salvage. Unfortunately, the entire engine has been removed and has most likely sunk far into the Tangle to where recovery is not worth the effort, even if it was still possible.
Still, he doesn't leave with completely empty hands. It seems the ektus' ship was powered by a Tamed Hive engine. He discoveres a piece of Oil-stained Honeycomb (Salvage) as well as a small storage of Dead Flowers (Specimen). Neither of these is particularly valuable or useful but they're the best thing he can find here and he notices something odd about one of the two objects that might increase its usefulness.
OOC:
Tektek rolled a 4 with doubles. According to the table on page 18, that gives him one resource or two resources with negative tags. The Twist however, allows you, saevikas, to add a positive tag to one of your resources. Basically, think what makes one of them unusual and describe what Tektek noticed. You can then slightly modify the resource name to suit this discovery of yours.
Keekik meanwhile heads to the helm of the ship to search for salvage there. Entering the small room at the front of the ship, Keekik notices something interesting here. There are a few splatters of ardent blood on the wall and floor near the entrance. It appears as if one of the attackers was an ardent and got injured in a fight that took place here. However, the fact that there is no blood anywhere else and no ardent body, the injury can't have been very bad.
Searching the room thoroughly, Keekik eventually notices something out of place, a small blood red rock on a broken leather string, long enough to have comfortably hung around someone's neck. Keekik picks up the Crezzerin Amber Amulet.
OOC:
Rolling a 6 gives you a rare resource. For the Twist, I'm deviating somewhat from this table and instead of giving you a beneficial tag on the item, I let you find something connected to the attackers. One of them lost an amulet they were wearing, made from dried and crystalized Crezzerin.
I'll copypaste the description of Crezzerin from the quickstart in here for convenience. The short version is: Crezzerin is always bad news.
[ +- ] Crezzerin Corrupts on Contact
The ship is small enough that Cyathus is reasonably certain there won't be another cargo hold, so they instead search this cargo storage again. They find three sealed boxes, each approximately one cubic meter in size, that look promising but upon opening one of them, they discover that it is filled with Manure Fertilizer (Salvage). They can take some of it if they want to or they could even transfer the whole crates to the Fading Dawn.
After that less than appealing salvage, they keep looking and eventually discover, wrapped in a thick cloth blanket, a broken lantern. While the lantern itself can't be repaired, the source of the light is still intact, a Dim Glowing Mushroom (Specimen).
OOC:
Cyathus rolled a four, meaning again two low quality pieces of salvage. No Twist, so no positive tags or cool connection to the attackers but still, discovering what this ship was transporting might come in handy with discovering what they were up to - even if not all the clues are there yet.

Tektek almost puts away the honeycomb, before noticing a bitter smell. Giving the honeycomb the ektus equivalent of a sniff, Tektek determined that this honeycomb's honey is likely poisonous, for whatever reason. As he heads back to the others, he makes a note to himself to not lick his fingers.

As their eyes spot the amulet they are invariably drawn close to it and with care in grasping upon the string, they lift the small object from the floor. Such a small delicate thing, remarkably beautiful... terrible on the body and mind. It was not exactly jewelry worthy stone for those how weren’t psychopaths. "Bad sign." Taking another sweep over, they note the blood again, wondering why no Ektus blood in here... maybe one got away? Or at least from here? Not much to go on. Not much to take. More time looking in circles would be wasted, so Keekik headed back holding the item out as the toxic waste they knew it to be. They weren’t sure whether to toss it after showing the others, but perhaps there was a better use of it not yet gleaned.

OOC:
You've searched the ship and found all there is to find here. What is your plan to proceed from here?

(@Keekik, I didn't mean to imply there wasn't any ektus blood on the bridge. There was as well. Sorry for the confusion, though it probbaly is not a big deal)

Cyathus carefully wraps up the mushroom, then employs Rust and Moss o help them push and carry of the crates of fertlizer to the deck, before looking around for their Ektus crewmate.

'Tektek, do you feel like carrying some crates. It is manure, it may come in useful, but the three of us hold ore speed than strength.'

'After we have loaded, you two want to help discover what happened yes? Which map point do we go to?'
Nov 18, 2020 3:03 am
Tektek grunts as he lifts the crates onto his shoulder, carrying them to the ship.

"Lay the dead to rest. Then we journey."
Nov 18, 2020 9:26 pm
Keekik regrouped with their scout and join the crew on deck to carry the salvage over. "You are not fearful of this, TekTek?" Keekik’s chittering preceding and following their speech, expressing surprise. The tzaelcre turn their ‘head’ about and then nodded strangely. "Are we with regret or anger? Neither are good winds to carry Us." Keekik of course meant no offense to anyone, but was attempting to show concern for their crewmate, and advise caution in following these Ardent, if that is what they were still.

Setting down the crates, Tektek calmly responds to Keekik.

"I go where the world wills me to. I only feel sad that the map it has given us is drawn in blood."

Clearly, he believes that this discovery of the ship was not a coincidence.

The skinsuit crawls and small waves traveling across its chest, carrying krinkly scittering sounds. "Ah, We see... Then we sail for adventure." Keekik made a pleased sound, accepting Tektek’s answer as true to themself now, and that was all any real windsailor could. Taking the chart back to the Helm of the Fading Dawn. It was not that they did not worry for Cyan at times, but the Gau seemed eager to follow too. Coming to trust their sense of adventure over Keekik’s sometime excessive caution, they were willing to steer in any direction that they all would go together.

OOC:
Sounds like you want to follow the map. Which point do you want to travel to first? The closer starting point or the farther away end point?
Nov 21, 2020 11:06 pm
OOC:
Is that the most of the chart we can glean? If so, I choice the closer, but with no more reason the speed
Nov 21, 2020 11:36 pm
"To which point should we go? I think the start of the journey is where the most can be learned."
Nov 24, 2020 11:27 am
Deciding that the best way to figure out what went on here, the wildsailors return to the Fading Dawn and set course for the starting point indicated on the chart that Keekik copied from the dead ektus' back. It appears to be only a few hours of journey, two watch shifts at most, depending on how fast they drive the engine.
OOC:
We'll be starting a small journey here [Rules on page 21 if you need a refresher]. There will only be two boxes to fill until you reach your destination, so depending on your speed, you can make it in either one watch shift or two. I'm opening a poll for that on the Discord.
I will also need a watch roll from one of you. It doesn't really matter from whom as you just roll 1D6, unaffected by any edges or skills.

Hidden Watch Roll - (1D6)

After charting and confirming course with TekTek, Keekik climbed the mast taking their watch position. They were always at more ease in the nest.

The Fading Dawn travels southwest, following the chart they found, at a moderate pace. The sky is calm and there is no more than a light breeze, perfect conditions for a journey.

Two hours pass without anything of note happening, then Keekik suddenly spots something, still far ahead of them. A large ship, at least twice the size of the Dawn, probably even larger. Keekik notices a large harpoon turret each on both ends of the ship as well as a grand blastbow. Whoever it is, they are heavily armed.
Luckily, thanks to Keekik's sharp eyes, the crew of the Fading Dawn has noticed the other ship before being noticed themselves, allowing them to choose whether to engage or not.
Nov 25, 2020 3:21 pm
Keekik rose to a stand to confirm and then slid down the mast with speed calling out. "Harvester! Harvester ahead! Hard tack!" Even while climbing down, they were preparing to lean with the boat with the change in directions that he hoped they would be making with soon and with great urgency. "Now is our only chance, to go unspotted!" Even that was simply a hope the Tzaelicrae held, for they could be spotted already and not have a clue.

Tektek, while helping with the course diversion, was keeping an eye on the other ship. While to the casual viewer, he was a wary defender of the ship, if you look more closely, you can almost see the wooden gears in his head spinning as he considers his odds of winning in a fistfight with a warship.
