Minor Magic*

Very optional at this point ... I am looking at something simpler.

New trait : Minor magic (1 point)

You can cast minor spell call "cantrip", like creating a were-light, dimming the lights of a room or invoking a shield that protect yourself from the rain.

You can cast cantrip at will, it doesn't require any expense of Will but you cannot maintain more than 3 cantrips active at the same time. Casting a cantrip takes a couple of seconds (1 action) and is a Lore test difficulty 8. Someone with the Glamour trait can use Art instead of Lore to cast cantrips.

Cantrip only have minor effect and cannot have a mechanical impact like hurting, protecting or hindering. If you have a natural weakness (Vulnerability, Weakened by Sunlight, flaw from regeneration etc) your cantrips are unable to affect the source of your weakness and are instantaneously dispelled by it.

Some examples of cantrip:

Mystical light : You create a light similar to the one from a torch or a candle. You can move the light (on few meters around you) or fix the light on something (a part of your own body, like your hand or a inanimate item like a wizard staff, a stone or a broken flashlight).

Servant : You summon a meticulous invisible servant on your side. He will be helpful to clean the house, iron the clothes, look for your glasses in your home but he has no intelligence : don't expect him to do work requiring intuition, quickness or thinking (like acting as a messenger, pickpocketing or distracting someone, searching a room for document or intervening if someone become menacing).

Umbrella shield : A weak forcefield surround you and protect yourself again rain, snow, dust, mild wind, dirt, projection, or stain. The force field doesn't stop air or gas and is no use again any attack.

Changing color : You can change the color of an inanimate item or of a light (but not the intensity). The object shouldn't be bigger than a chair or table. This spell is only useful if something has already a color so it won't be any in any use if you target an invisible opponent. The new color seems "odd" or "artificial" to someone who pays attention or looks closely.

Breeze : you can create a blow to move sheets of paper, blow smoke away from you face, taking care of your fireplace, having your hairs/your cape floating in the wind or extinguish a candle. It can be strong enough to take off some hat but don't expect more !

Trick : you can teleport a small and light item from your hand to your pocket or the opposite. The item must approximately be the same size as your palm : a business card, a police warrant, a ring, a key, a lighter, a usb drive, a playing card etc

Voice : Choose an obvious trigger (a door is open, the light in the room changes significantly, someone (non-specific) enter, a ward is activate), and says a sentence (you can whisper but you cannot be louder than your normal voice). When the trigger happens, your voice can be heard pronouncing the sentence.

The trigger and the source of the voice have visible marks (runes on a door, glyphs on the floor, a talisman) and the cantrip can be easily defused with a Lore test (Difficulty 6) by anyone with a focus in magic or with Countermagic or Sight

Twilight : You can dim the light in the room you are standing in. It won't be enough to hinder the visibility but it could help to insure an aura of mystery, ease someone sensitive to the light (or forcing someone to look for his reading glasses). This cantrip is not very effective against the lights from the sun (or other stars), the effect at most is the equivalent to a cloud passing in front of the sun

Modified trait : Countermagic (1 point)

You know defensive spells which protect you and others against magical attacks. You can use your Lore Skill as a defense against magic, and can make a Lore skill test to disperse a magical effect. In both cases, this will usually be an opposed roll. You get a a bonus of +2 on this roll if you target a cantrip.
