Familiars (2 Points)
Only available to those with the Magician Focus.
Experienced Magicians can summon a permanent familiar that takes generally takes the shape of a small animal or creature - this is not an actual living being but an extension of the Magician themselves. Each familiar has their own unique abilities as conferred by their animal form as well as magical traits and can act independently of their begetter while remaining in contact mental contact with them - any Willpower required to use an ability (Trait) is spent by the Magician.
With the GM's permission Familiars can have Monstrous Traits - unless the Magician has spent additional points to boost their Familiars Endurance their existences are bound together, so a Familiar will usually choose to evade conflict rather then attack as any mental or physical damage taken goes directly to their originator. Under extreme duress a Magician might choose to banish their Familiar effectively killing it forever - a banished Familiar cannot be re-summoned and any points spent are effectively lost.

- Familiars do not have skills although they may make an unskilled check to achieve a success where appropriate at the discretion of the GM.
Additional abilities should be agreed with the GM and may be bound by the form of the Familiar i.e. they may not allow you to have a fire-breathing Toad!
