The words come faster now and Gilly regains some of her confidence. She sizes herself up mentally against the dwarf. Mal is closer to Coulson in size, but Gilly had to admit the resemblance was there!

"Yes I’m, okay... we can keep... looking around. Their..." she points to Mal and Loken "... things must... be here somewhere!"

OOC I want to explore more stuff and get some more shiny stuff. It’s a harder sell narratively. :D

Mal smiles at the halfling and nods in agreement. She searches the room she was tied up in first and then moves up the hallway rooms looking for her gear.

OOC:
Is there anywhere specific in this room Mal is searching, or just a general once-over?
Jan 20, 2021 3:47 am
OOC:
I suppose mostly a general search, unless something looks interesting

*And she'll use her dwarf stone detection senses instinctually

What’s giving off that terrible smell in the room? We must be able to see it clearer now too! Do we need to beware?

OOC:
That would be the barbarian.

The foul odor seems to be coming from the debris making up the snakes nest, where the arrow slot is built into the wall in the northeast corner.

Angel helps Mal clear the remaining ropes and rags so they can leave then follows the group into the hallway.

As he begins to move off to search th room, Loken sees Eltrezars sidelong glance and sniff, and noticing the malodorous stench, self consciously smells himself, as discreetly as he can
"That smell is not me spellslinger!" he complains. "But aye, yer sozzled companion ‘as it right fer now. Steel is steel an’ I can use steel."
He gives a knowing nod of thanks to Mal for her intervention

"If someone finds it prudent, we should check the remainder of the rooms in this hallway. And do a thorough search, as we keep finding these wonderful treasures tucked away out of sight," Eltrezar says, touching the silver baton from a pocket tucked away in his robes. He walks into the hallway, dagger in hand- 'Fool me thrice...'- and stops at the first door on the left. After a moment of listening at the door, he will open it if there are no sounds emanating from the room beyond.

Angel and Mal begin searching the source of the foul odor, digging around in the snake's nest, with their hands. Much of the nest consists of various organic detritus that has blown into the arrow slot over the years, but a significant portion of it is comprised of various animal bones. Some of these seem half-digested and thus half decomposing still. And with any digested, or half-digested material, comes a significant layer of feces to sort through.

The thief and dwarf are about over digging through the refuse, hands covered in feces and rotten plant and animal matter when Angel's hands find something hard, yet smoother than digested bone. As his hands run over it, he feels a small sting of the nick of a blade and drawing his hands free with object in hand, he finds a beautifully crafted dagger. It's blade is sharp and it's handle seems to be of silver and gold, with a gorgeous red jewel embedded in the hilt.

Meanwhile, Eltrezar walks to the nearest unexplored door on the left hand side and puts his ear to it. Listening as best as he can, despite the noise from the room behind him, he hears nothing to indicate the room is occupied. He tries the door handle. It turns.
He opens the door with a squeaking resonance, and finds...
...an empty bed chamber. Once the quarters of someone of medium importance, a castle troop leader or some other petty official perhaps, this place is now a total wreck. The bed is chopped to pieces, and the furniture is smashed or missing. One thing that Eltrezar does find with note is a pile of gear. A set of plate mail, a set of chain mail, a two-handed sword, a warhammer, a shield, and a couple hand axes, along with some other various adventuring sundries... Eltrezar doesn't have to put too much effort into it to put two-and-two together and figure out these items probably belonged to the dwarf and barbarian the party has just rescued.

The wizard pokes his head back into the large chamber and calls out, "Dwarf, I believe your equipment is in this room. It is with luck that it is close at hand. And you...- a moment's pause, itself clearly an insult- your rubbish seems to be here as well."

Without any clear danger, he returns to the room and pokes around, seeing if there is anything tucked away. He also looks for any money pouch that would be made from animal hides, and likely very smelly. Yes, he looks for the barbarian's money pouch.

Stalking over with long purposeful strides, Loken enters the bedchamber "What was the matter, it all too heavy fer you to pick up?" he asks sarcastically, as he dons his chain Mail, making sure to flex his scarred, toned muscles in the wizards face

Would a near-death Halfling object to this?
Gilly stands in the doorway, keeping an eye on the hall, the room with the magic user, and part of the room that held the snake!

Finishing up the search of the snake nest, Mal is disappointed to find only the ornamental knife, which she makes no claim on. Just then the wizard pops in and delivers some good news.

"That's fantastic! Thank you for your efforts sir!"

Mal heads for the room Eltrezar mentioned and spies her gear sitting in a pile. She spends some time strapping her armor back on and stowing her weapons and then rejoins the group with a renewed sense of purpose.

"Feels good to be whole again."

Under his breath, the wizard mutters to himself. "You do seem good at lifting things. Putting things down. Getting tied up. Not much else." It is a simple movement to cross the hall, to the door on the right side. Once again, he listens in- and shushes the barbarian, whether or not he made any noise- before opening the door.

OOC:
The physical therapy appt took all day today. It's amazing that a small city of maybe 150k pop takes 40 minutes to drive through on major roads. Then I had to stop at a couple of pharmacies and someplace for lunch. I'm amazed that so many people are out getting lunch at quarter to 2 in the afternoon. It's now dinner time and I'm not even the least bit hungry.
Angel pops his head up briefly as Mal seems to be called away on some other important mission. He looks back at the dagger with a big grin and then at his hand. Stepping away from the pile of crap he's been digging through he swings his water skin around and dribbles a few ounces onto the hand that got cut to rinse away the feces and other dirt. Thinking he doesn't want more of them same stuff on his hands he goes back to the pile but uses his sword to move stuff around. He will continue that activity for a few minutes while the others go to recover their lost gear. If they haven't returned by the time he's done, he will try to recover any arrows that might be reusable.

Checking his weapons for damage as he places them about himself, Loken, a grim smile at being armed once more, scowls as he looks about "The thriving swine stole my coin purse" he growls in frustration "I made that purse from the remains of my first kill!"
