I recall another entrance in the NE side, no?
Yes, the one where you saw a bandit keeping watch. That one is big enough for all.

Sure, I like that idea. Well shoot, that roll was supposed to be hidden but the thing didn't work. In any case.
Kelric scans the outside of the moathouse wall but doesn't notice any secret doors or alternative means to get inside from where he stands.
Elmo listens to Coulson's gentle chastisement and nods, "Aye, I maybe should 'ave taken a chip on tha' last ale, my friend..."

Rolls

Kelric Detect roll - (1d6)

Angel slinks back into the underbrush as best he can and waits for the group to decide which way to go.

"And where is the secret entrance, little one? Is it safe? And most importantly, did you see any of the bandits? I would hope our scuffle with these beasts did not remove our element of surprise." Eltrezar slinks back into cover, following the motions of Sister Alice.

Excitedly, Gilly begins to stage whisper her discoveries!

"Alright! I found two entrances! One riiiiight there..." she points to where she had been standing, bow in hand a moment ago! "... but well, it’s a bit small. I could go through, and maybe Coulson." she cocks an inquisitive eye at Coulson, mentally sizing him up.

She shakes her head! "Eh... anyway. Too small. But there’s another way all the way around. Big enough for everyone. But.. well, there’s a person standing nearby."

"Hmm, we ain’t exactly a group of quiet sneak theives, but if only two of us will fit through the other one, I don’t see as how much good it’ll do us. There bound ter be more’n one fella inside, an’ the two of us won’t be able to take them all on"
Dec 7, 2020 3:36 pm
"Did you see anyone else Gilly? If it's only one guard we might be able to take him by surprise with our archers. Seems wiser than tromping in through the front gate...

"Just the one. But he has a great big crossbow... so we would have to be quick." Gilly doesn’t like the prospect of taking fire from a crossbow, but she’s feeling high from scoring a hit on the frog. "I’m sure I can get him. If someone else were to help, well... easy."

"Hmm, crossbow has a good reach and I don't want to make a target out of any of you. How close could we get before breaking cover?"
Dec 7, 2020 4:51 pm
Eltrezar eyes Coulson up and down, seemingly comparing the size of the short but stout dwarf to his own frail frame, as though amused by the thought of himself being unable to follow the dwarf into a small crevice. "Is it wise for one as armed as yourself to try to sneak into a guarded compound, Dwarf? As for the guard... I currently command but a sliver of my potential magicks, and as such can only unleash it upon one poor damned fool. I'd prefer to save it for a time of urgency. And while I have many knives, I cannot throw them at a distance that would be safe from the crossbow. It would seem that our little burglar is our best bet here, as she can get close and unleash arrows from hiding. Clever use of cover might even provide a distraction to allow some of us to close in from another direction."

From what Gilly recalls, there was some bushes and trees on the party's side of the moat, near where the crossbowman was keeping watch. About 35-40 feet from the hole in the moathouse wall. After that you'd all be out in the open.
Dec 7, 2020 5:54 pm
Angel steps forward. "Maybe I can't sneak as well as Gilly but I'm quieter than the rest of you. I'll go with her and both our bows should do the trick."
Dec 8, 2020 2:26 am
Kelric watches the group discuss the small opening. I can not seem to detect any other entrances besides what you have found.
You have my bow as well, maybe if we fire at the same time we better our odds against the guard.
Kelric says as he shrugs his shoulders.

Gilly nods to Angel and Kelric.

"Yes! The three of us could do it. Come, come! I can show you how to hide, if you’re not sure! Just copy me!

Eh... the rest of you..."
she nods to Elmo, Alice, Coulson and Eltrezar "... count to 60 and then sneak as best you can! Or I can come back and show you how!"

Gilly is taking her role as the sneak very seriously indeed.

Although her head is wrapped around the upcoming fight, Alice for the life of her cannot help but crack a smile at the Halfling's enthusiasm.

"Whistle a bird call that repeats three times when you want us Gilly."
Dec 8, 2020 3:57 am
To Coulson and Elmo, Alice asks a favor;

"You two have warhorses that will not throw us should the bolts start flying. Could we double up to charge in and then Eltrezar and myself will dismount near the fight?"

"If’n you reckon the ‘orses will get there, I don’t see that as a bad plan, yer welcome to share me ‘orse sister"

OOC:
I think that Gilly would hear this conversation between Alice and Coulson and would know that the hole in the wall the crossbowman was peering out of would be big enough for a man, but probably not big enough for a horse.
Dec 8, 2020 6:29 pm
OOC:
My plan is not to ride the horse into the keep but to use it to cross the distance between us melee types and the crossbow. The faster we cross no man's land the fewer bolts we potentially take and the fewer goons that can come flooding out of the hole

"Mmmm... I don’t think the horse can sneak so well. And the hole is big enough for you to fit, but I’m not so sure about Timber and the others."
Dec 9, 2020 2:50 pm
"But they’ll get us across twice as quick as walking"
