I'm TheMightyKobold or TMK for short. I've been playing DnD since the end of AD&D and have been on Gamer's Plane since last year but took a long leave of absence until just recently. I'm not quite sure what I want to play . . . my first thought was a Barbarian to smash everything I could but unless this is a combat heavy RP, that might not work out well. I'll throw together some concepts tomorrow when I'm fresh but I'll roll some stats for now to get things going.

I added some character background options and faction information that are in the sourcebook for the PotA campaign to the character creation thread, if anyone wants to use any of those. You definitely don't have to! I just thought I'd offer it up to anyone who wants to, since it's included as an option in the book.

I'm thinking the campaign will be a little sandbox-y. You'll all start by being hired by a local inn owner to investigate a suspicious presence at Lance Rock, but from there, it will go wherever you all want it to go. There will likely be a decent amount of combat, given what's includes in the book, but I'm really open to tailoring it to whatever you guys like and I'll definitely be trying to have moments for role-playing and non-combat encounters.

TMK, you around for awhile this time? :D excited to wrap of Daimyo's ^_^ I'm not sure what character I should use here.

Hi everyone. I'm Mike. I've been known to dabble in Pathfinder adventures, and now with 5e I've been running the Adventurer's League campaigns from time to time. I have two tabletop groups that I attend regularly, and I'm just now trying out being a DM on this site (just bought my books last weekend). I love to RP and I enjoy bringing humor into the game world as well.

Laserhamster1 here, or Laser if you prefer. I've played plenty of 3.5 and 4e tabletop, but I've decided to really start with 5e on here. I've never used this site before, but I should get the hang of it soon!

Hi everyone. Cerris here. I've been playing dnd for a very long time. I started with the original one. Went on into AD&D. And along the years played numerous rpgs. So decided to come back to my roots here and try out 5e and see what happens.

It looks like almost everyone has their character finished up. As soon as Cerris214 gets theirs set up, we'll be good to start. No rush, Cerris, I know you just joined up the other day!

Feel free to post any character backstories you like over in the Character Creation thread (if you haven't already), or if there's any secret stuff you don't want others to know, feel free to PM me. Or if you just want what we know about your character to come from in-game, just surprise us =D

Work snuck up on me. Going to be this weekend until I can start on my character. 14 hour days really stink. Sorry for any delay this causes.

When is the planned launch date for this adventure?

I was just waiting for Cerris214 to make their character, but it looks like they're going to be out for a bit suddenly. I think I'll go ahead and start up the adventure, and whenever Cerris214 has the time and feels up to it, I'll work their character into the adventure wherever you all are. I'll post up the game thread now, and feel free to play!

@13zeros ...I have no idea what you're rolling for. Persuasion? Survival? Unless you're just rolling to roll?

Yeah, probably no need to roll for how a PC is to react. I was doing a knowledge of the area check to see if I knew the way there at all, but one of the other characters seems to know the way, so we're all good. I'll reign in the rolling ;)

No worries. It's a pretty well known landmark so anyone who's been in the area for a while would know where it is. It's fairly tall, so you can also see it from a couple of miles away. Asking Kaylessa or around town could get you pretty good directions. It's not hard to find. The only reason I ask what the roll was was so I knew how to respond (i.e. if he's trying to persuade Kaylessa or something). Also, depending on how he's trying to find the way to Lance Rock, it could be a straight Intelligence roll or it could be a Survival check. Rolling's fine (and welcome!) haha. I just wasn't sure what you were rolling (i.e. Intelligence, survival, persuasion, etc) and what you were trying to get out of that information (inspire the group? Charm Kaylessa? etc). That's my bad.

What sort of roll is relevant for this sort of thing? Nature? Investigation? Something else?

Depends what you want to do. If you're just kind of looking around generally then Perception is the roll. If you want to check out something/decipher something then investigation is good.

You could just spell out your actions and wait for the DM to say give me a perception roll, etc. If unsure I think just getting in character and just explaining actions then let the DM ask for rolls is best. :)
