The New GP Member Guide does not provide any specific guidance on image technical requirements and I tried to find another thread on the topic before posting, but didn't see anything.

Are there technical requirements for images, i.e size limits, file type or size, etc.?

Not really. JPGs, GIFs and PNGs seem to work. You can only link to images, the site does not host them.

The tag is a follows (take out the leading space):
[ img]url to image[/img]

Tried posting the following using the code as shown above and both failed on me. (This is pulled from an edit of the post.)

Those two images are failing because the site is redirecting to HTTPS but has an invalid certificate. So for security reasons, it doesn't display.

Thank you, turns out my host made encryption fairly easy.

So does anyone have any tips for using Google Drive or Google Photos for their images? I can create the Link, share it with 'Everyone', and it opens if you copy/paste the link, but not automatically ?

Did you change the end from dl=0 to dl=1

@Qralloq - This is the link google drive gave me:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tG-JbJGPJhyw6zzZ-K-jZ3MnHE0lz2m0/view?usp=sharing

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Bingo!! and Thank you.

I'm not sure what was going on with the google drive, but sharing from my Dropbox took less than 30 seconds. We are in business :)

Just in case anyone does plan to share from Google Drive, you can generate direct links to stored images with this site. It works for embedding images in posts. :D

OK awesome hive mind. To insert images in gaming posts, I have been using the neat Imgur snippet function from Adam's extension (on Chrome). This is super easy and really helpful.

However, I noticed that the images inserted this way sometimes go offline. Being unfamiliar with Imgur, I thought I'd ask others to see if they also experienced something similar?

Are the Imgur images 'permanent', or would it be best to use another image repository to guarantee that pics won't disappear from the forum posts?

Dr_B, the imgur images stored on my own account never go offline. I'm not sure what account they get stored to when you use Adam's extension. If there was something you wanted to have safeguarded from going offline forever, you could use your own account for those images.

I'll also add it is kinda nice to have my own account as I can go back and reuse old images really quickly. The initial uploading is a bit of a pain maybe, compared to Adam's app.

The extension uses the imgur api. I haven’t noticed a problem once they’re uploaded, but their api can be temperamental to get them to upload in the first place.

Thanks for the feedback Len and Adam. I'll try with the own account method.

Sorry if it's obvious, but where can I find your extension, Adam?
