We can use this thread to talk OOC. If there’s some rule issue you need clarified, or you’ll be absent for a time, you can post it here too!

I'm here really, just trying to work on some holiday cards for the fam-bam

Okay how much does my character know about things from his "normal" life and how much does he not --- further what time period did he come from in his "normal" life if he can pull upon those strange memories --- also did your "normal" aspect have an age (again if the character can draw upon those memories)?

You’re character is essentially an adventurer. The child in the intro was purely a mechanism to evoke Neverland feelings. :D

You can know anything reasonable to your background. You can spout some lore too about your characters past. Once it doesn’t try to bend it tooooo much to a mechanical advantage.

"I was a warrior in the elven Queen Moriannaia’s court. I served there for many years."

VS

"Oh. I fought this exact thing that we are facing at this exact time. I know all it’s weaknesses."

Does that make sense?
Dec 12, 2020 4:11 pm
Yes -- the latter would require the appropriate Lore check -- while the former is just fluff

Okay so that (misunderstood element) child that is within me is at best a very vague impression that not everyone shares and/or its part of the magic that brought us here and mysteriously ties our fates together in a way that lends some trust to us working together otherwise we will be a bunch of strangers that happened to weirdly meet each other on a beach with absolutely no reason to trust or work together (which I would think would be a dangerous thing if we then actually role-play our character's straight up)

Yes exactly. Deep, deep down you’re all children from the same children’s home. A certain intrinsic trust is there. Otherwise it would be a stand-off at the beach. :D

Okay thanks that helps the mind-set ;)

Also does my character know about how long now (after that 1 hour) he feels before the storm hits? Not sure whether that would be a Survival check or a Nature Lore check or a Survival check influenced by Nature Lore or vice-versa which is why I included both

I’ve already put a lot of text in the main thread so I’ll post this here.

Only Rigo separate from the rest of the group in terms on initiative. Spiders, Rigo, Spiders, everyone else.

So you can all post up your actions in whatever order you come to the thread (after the other spiders attack) and they can all be resolved at once.

KCC69 says:
Sylvar, this spider just bodies you. It grabs you, and just tosses you 40ft away. You land on a rocky part of the beach with a sickening whack, and your body shoots with pain. Take 7 damage.
Sylvar is an eight foot tall rock man and the spider just tosses him around like a small bottle of water.

I also have a question on this -- unless its a special ability of the said creature -- I am not sure how this would have been implemented using the basic guidelines -- and while you do have GM caveat at all times -- I am just wanting to understand it so I know how it might apply later on perhaps in our benefit versus our detriment

The real trick is to see if Sylvar can land on his head and stay balanced.

Was there a gameplay map somewhere that I missed? Or we doing theater of the mind?

Also I added Sylvar’s spells and equipment to his profile for whom it may concern. Just ask if you want something.

Thanks for auto adding me to the init there.

Well there are numerous maps out there -- such as this ONE

Oh and btw that is the original one created by the Walt Disney Studio with all the added features we associate with the isle these days

And here is a nice reference CITE

These all of course would be general conceptual stuff that may or may not be within this rendition of the isle but they give some idea I am sure

Ha! Yes it’s a good point about tossing Sylvar. In truth I was debating how to allow that. A contested strength check seemed like a good candidate. And I’m happy to retcon that if everyone agrees. I simply went with him hitting your "AC" (though of course AC wouldn’t matter here necessarily).

Purely a method to measure of the spider could manage it or not. I am perfectly happy to allow you to... not fly 40 ft! :D
OOC:
Alas, while the book is written to be 5e compatible, the Stats and abilities of creatures require a bit of divination on my part as to the intended effects. The stat blocks are a bit sparse and open to... interpretation :D

Okay, unfortunately DeJoker has been removed from the game, and the gameplay thread has been locked.

I won’t go in to all the reasons why. Suffice to say that the last reason is worthy of an insta-ban by itself. Checking the book for stat blocks and map details spoils the game for players but also the DM.

You can probably tell that I’m not a very experienced DM. But I was excited to try Neverland. But getting paragraphs of requests in every private note has made this game harder to get off the ground than I had hoped.

If you all want to continue with the game, I will open the game thread again and invite another backup player. If not, I totally understand. It’s been a learning experience.
Dec 15, 2020 4:16 am
I’m totally up for continuing! Sorry it hasn’t started out the way you wanted, but I’m definitely interested in keeping it rolling.

We must complete Sylvar’s arc.

His arc through the air, that is.
