Sorry I'm a bit late to this. I was thinking maybe a barbarian which still fits looking at everyone else's characters, but lets see what the dice gods say...

I think I will go barbarian, most likely totem warrior. Torn between mountain dwarf and Half-orc - need those racial bonuses!

Alright, my character has been submitted. A VHuman fighter with the soldier background, a member of the Emerald Enclave, Orel Dotsk. I'll write a more in-depth backstory in a bit, but I wanted to get the mechanics hammered out first. A few things:

1. Our party make up is Sorc, Warlock, Rogue, Barbarian, Fighter. I considered going Paladin so we'd at least have a healer, but I took the Healer feat instead, the idea being my character is trained in part (although not entirely) as a medic. Is it alright if I use 5 gp of my starting gold to buy a healer's kit before session 1?

2. I used the "customizing a background" rules on page 125 of the PHB. Technically these... aren't even optional (well, every rule is optional, but you know what I mean, it's not flagged as "optional" like feats or multiclassing) so I don't know why more people don't use them? But all I did was switch the Soldier's intimidation proficiency for medicine, since that makes a lot more sense for my character. Is that alright?

@SphereicalSphere1 - both of those are absolutely fine - and very nice touches I think.

Sphere, I did the same thing with my character. Human warlock, Soldier-healer background, and kept intimidation and replaced the 2nd skill with medicine and vehicle prof with Herbalism kit lol. If you want, we can make it so we known each other and part of the same squad. Im a regular human though so no healer feat, all stats were odd, so I got them all even:)

Kirin, that would be fantastic! I'm not super familiar with the Forgotten Realms so I didn't really know what sort of military operation to be a part of, so I was a part of the decentralized player faction the "Emerald Enclave" initially, but if you have another idea as to what military force our characters were a part of I'd be more than happy to change that :)

I'm not too familiar with FR either, I'm fine staying with the Emerald Enclave, sounds cool too. Especially since Final Fantasy 14 just released Emerald Weapon as a boss. Where did you find the military information from?

If you both decide to go with being members of the Emerald Enclave. give me a few sentences of description and I’ll add it to the NPC list. See if I can work in a connection/reference to it down the line.

EDIT: Just realized where I've heard of the Emerald Enclave before. If the three of you decide to be members I'll add it to the Organization Guide.

If you do backstory, do you put that in a forum post, or in your notes of your sheet?

I usually do both. Forum is notice so everyone can see it, your sheet is nice as it’s easier for me to reference.

Would you guys be against my barbarian being a part of the Emerald Enclave aswell?

I was thinking, with those crappy stat rolls that my character would have been cast out from tribe for being too weak to become a warrior. They survived in the wild (outlander background) and became quite spiritual in the natural environment, finding a spirit guide to teach and guide them (aiming for totem warrior path). They want to prove themselves and seek to fight bigger and stronger monsters and one day return to the tribe to challenge the leader.

Reading about the Emerald Enclave, it sounds like that would fit nicely with the survival aspect, and be a good tie for how we come together for the adventure. If you would prefer to keep us more separate that’s fine too, I can work it either way

iirc the thing has faction hooks so thats nice :D I don't see my dood being part of that, he would be on the road for traveling and selling beers and brewery equipment.

With my stats, I'm thinking I'll be a gnome who left to go adventuring purely out of mischievous desire. He doesn't need to get money through trickery, he's just in it for the thrill of the con.

well after hours of searching i finally found one i'm ok with :D Now working on his bg bits some.

I've got a swift little image i'll post tomorrow if we want the entire party to be connected, its pretty cool i think.
