Hi everyone!
Thanks for joining our game! This thread is to introduce ourselves and figure out where to begin.
I'm Len, your humble Dungeon Master. I'm from Vancouver Canada, where I spend my days teaching Computer Science at a local high school. I'm also the proud father of twin 8 year old boys, and a life long gamer. I've been playing tabletop roleplaying games since the 1980s, but took a pretty long break from the hobby when I went off to university. When D&D Fifth Edition came out in 2014, I decided to get back in. I've been playing 5e ever since.
If you're new to Gamer's Plane, check out this awesome guide for new players by one of the most prolific members on the site, Naatkinson.
Also, if you don't own a D&D 5e Player's Handbook, you'll want to download a free copy of the Basic Rules, which gives you all the rules to play the game as well as the classic races (Dwarf, Elf, Hafling, Human) and classes (Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard) to build a character with. Don't worry, you don't have to read the whole thing, but you might like knowing where you can look things up.
So, what do you need to do?
1. Check out the safety tools thread, read up on our safety tools, and tell us what topics you want to handle with care in this game.
2. Check out the setting info. This is open and you can expand upon it if you wish.
3. Check out the character creation thread and start designing your character. Ask lots of questions and tell us how it's coming!
4. Practice rolling dice and posting in the Posting Practice thread!
