Ootah follows Karg over to his friends gesturing a hand greeting to them as he introduces them. At Amos's actions she leans and says to Karg, "Your friend seems ill at ease, he not feeling well?"

"Ahh, sorry we lost track of you, Belgar'ath. Greeting, Ootah, I am Ulfgar" Ulfgar says rejoining the conversation having taken the pause in making their way to the garrison as a chance to gain a feel for this new place.

Arjaak smiles and nods a greeting to Ootah before following along to the garrison.

Karg replies to Ootah, "Maybe. The trip was long." Turning to Belgar'ath, "Sorry. Glad you caught up."

The group finally arrives at a bridge in perhaps the eastern most part of town. The bridge spans a deep chasm separating a fort from the main village and resides at the end of two of the roads out of three that exist within the village. The other road is the north-south road that seemed to be a nearly straight line between the north and south gates. Using these main packed dirt roads is pretty easy and there are board walks along either side to allow easier travel when the roads are not so dry as they are now. Further they can see that once you leave one these main roads the tents appear to be a haphazard maze of narrow walkways interspersed with small open areas where a tent once stood. Upon getting closer the group can see that the bridge, which from a distance looks rather crude and unstable, is in fact quite stable and probably capable of handling a pretty heavy load before even complaining. Just before the bridge though seems to be a guard check point as the group is halted from going any further, "Please state the nature of your business."

"We thought it best to get our registration with the garrison done with before other business." Ulfgar replies to the guard.

"Ah, so you are wanting to join the garrison, good. Well then you will need to check all your weapons with him," he points off to his right where a man sits at a small table with a book. "Then we search you to make sure you are not holding out. Then we check you and if everything checks out we escort you in. Fairly routine procedure."
OOC:
If anyone plans to hold out please denote so and what you are holding out otherwise this goes fairly smoothly and you can post what you do up to the "we check you" stage.

Arjaak pulls out a dagger and small knife, proffering them easily before doing so as well with her very fine rapier with some trepidation. She then gestures to her bagpipes saying, "Some have told me these are weapons. Must I check them as well?"

"Nah," the scribe says to Arjaak, "that will be taken care of in a bit, you can keep your instrument."
OOC:
Note Arjaak does realize though that if they do not check the instrument that some clumsy guard is going to be checking it for hidden weapons.

Amos nods at the guard's instructions. "Caution is the parent of safety. I do believe you will treat our belongings with respect." He offers his daggers and shortbow to the guard at the table.

The scribe at the table answers Amos' comment with, "As is our charge."

Belgar hands over his short staff "Here take it, and careful with it. Its used for more than just walking!" As he is about to withdraw from the man at the table and turn around fetching something from one of his pouch. Putting a small knife, which looked more like a butter knife than anything else, next to his staff he adds "I almost forgot I had that thing on me... Barely ever used it".
He then wait with the other for the next instructions.

The scribe nods to Belgar's statement, "Do not be concerned, we take great care of all items checked here."

"Makes sense," Karg says as he hands over a flail and two javelins, "These are my weapons."

Ulfgar hands over his scimitar and sling.

OOC:
Since no one said so I am assuming no one is attempting to smuggling in a weapon -- not sure what was done with the bagpipes but to save wear and tear on the instrument I am going to assume they were checked in as a weapon and thus do not need to be searched for hidden weapons.
Once all the weapons are turned over and each person is respectfully checked for any hidden weapons another guard steps and says, "Left hand please," he demonstrates by holding out his left hand palm up. Upon compliance he places a small orb, about two inches in diameter, into the palm of your hand. Arjaak being first the orb glows a soft blue and the guards says, "Divine caster." Then another guard steps up to Arjaak holding out a short dark metal bracer, "Left wrist please."

Meanwhile the guard with the orb moves to Amos repeating his mantra when the orb is placed in Amos' hand it flashes a faint red, then a blue swirls in. The guard waits for the the colors to stabilize and soon the orb is a chaotically swirling sphere of faint red and blue that in turn gives off a faint purple glow. "Divine, Arcane caster." the guard finally says.
OOC:
Is anyone going to object to the bracers being placed on your left wrist? And what does Amos do, note he does not have to do anything just curious if he does?
Feb 23, 2021 11:49 am
Amos curiously watches the orb do its work. Upon the guard's announcement, he raises an eyebrow and addresses him. "Hmm. I can promise you I am not trying to pull one over on you, but you might want to have these things recalibrated. I have no such abilities."
Feb 23, 2021 3:10 pm
The guard looks at Amos and matter-of-factly states, "The orb is never wrong, perhaps you are simply unaware of your abilities."
Feb 23, 2021 5:46 pm
Arjaak graciously accepts the bracer though with an eyebrow raised. "Hmm and here I always considered myself an arcane caster, she says softly to herself before shrugging and moving along.

OOC:
Note I consider Bards divine casters because they can cast healing spells which an Arcane caster does not usually do as the ramifications of attempting to do so are not conducive to being an arcane caster. So you most likely serve the patron of bards ;) although perhaps they just had not realized it yet since its simply a natural extension of who they are. Perhaps now they may wish to explore that a bit more
