Hello fellow Knaves.

I present to you the frail, soon to be departed, Elius Wax.

He was a Mariner, but was kidnapped in the past. Wears elegant clothes, and has breathy speech. Has a lanky physique, a wide face, a pale skin and is bald. He is honest, but deceitful. Hence, he evidently favors chaos.

Question : Let's say Elius Wax wants to use a bow because he is a little less useless with them. How are the amunition tracked ? -1 per shot ? Does he start with a full quiver ?
Are all Knaves young by default (I guess, as they probably won't survive long)

I'll be playing Clomm, a cook who dabbled in alchemy and magic. His patron wound up dead from alleged poison and/or magic, and so everybody pinned it on poor Clomm. Despite his short stature and boyish face, he's managed to scrape a living through these hard times and has managed to hang on to one spellbook. He's in search for more magic.

Looking good so far.

Age: make your Knave whatever age you want. Old, young, 17, 60, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS -- however you want to describe it.

Weapons: Knaves start with the weapon of their choice. Bows are fine.

Tracking Ammunition: Knave is silent on the subject. There are a few entries in the item lists that have actual counts, but I'm not sure I want to do that vs. a Usage Die like The Black Hack uses. (Where you would start with a full quiver of say d12. After each combat using arrows, roll your usage die and shrink the die one step on a 1-2. Progression as you run out is d12-d10-d8-d6-d4... and when you hit 1-2 on a d4, you're out.) Open to other ideas, though.

I’m a fan of quantum ammunition. It doesn’t matter until it matters ya know.
Feb 27, 2021 10:58 pm
Quantum ammunition are more than fine.
Also, I tried to recreate poor Elius in Heroforge but they don't have warpaints yet. Is it alright if I change his skin to pale ?

I'm also giving the 'Dead at -1' rule a bit of a think. That's pretty binary... I might inject a little "when we turn the body over make a roll" action a la DCC and a few other games that borrow that mechanic...

He's your PC, do as you will!

Also, Quantum Ammo is also fine. I liberally use 'The Die of Fate' in virtually all OSR games, and I'm happy to rely on that and fumbles to deplete your quiver when it's meaningful...

I'll be playing the gambler Audree Watters. She has a stout body but bony face, tanned skin, and filthy hair. She wears flamboyant clothes to draw attention but mumbles when she talks. She is righteous but angers easily. She won a haunted set of dice during a card game and she can't throw them away. Whenever they come up snake eyes, weird shit happens.

I think your link doesn't work as it refers to a file on your computer. I should have told you to use the permalink feature on the generator when you said you liked the generated character on the other thread, sorry.

I'm positively surprised by Heroforge.
Not lanky enough but I think it'll do.

Alright, let's Knave this sumbitch. (Also not a word.) I've chosen a few traits and rolled for the rest. I'll come back and edit this once I've seen the numbers.

Endrei is a slothful, gentle soul whose life might have been very different if he had not also been born a towering, lanky monstrosity of a man. A disease in his youth left him with a pockmarked visage, which, combined with his size, gave him a trollish aspect that strikes fear into the hearts of children and enemies alike. He fell into the career of the street tough, bodyguard and mercenary, and was ultimately pressed into service as a soldier in the army of King Markos. Being temperamentally ill-suited to the soldiering life, with its constant fighting and its dim view of late-sleeping, Endrei decided to leg it.

He is now technically a deserter, although he would argue that this is vastly overstating the case. He's looking for a place far from prying eyes and a way to put food in his belly, preferably with as little effort as possible.

Digging these characters. For those new to GP, you'll need to create a 'custom' character, paste in your Knave, then submit them to the game.

We get that done, I'm hoping to get the first post up by mid-week...

Elius greets his fellow knaves.

I tried to apply my character but it doesn’t seem to be working. Any tips?

Edit: Seems like it’s attached but I can’t change to my character from my phone. I’ll figure it out.

I think Harrigan has to accept the character before we can post as that character.
Mar 2, 2021 4:13 am
Looks like you figured out it, and Ciriaco sent his character as well. Will have a peek at these tonight, and if I have the energy, get us started!

Yep, I do. Now accepted!

Also, for those new to GP, check the red toolbar at the bottom of the page. It's a great, if not very noticeable, way to jump from the game's details (deets!), to its forums (frms!), to its characters (y'all).
Mar 2, 2021 4:27 am
Testing the character post...

I hadn't noticed the toolbar! That's very helpful. Although I can't see the other players' characters when I click on those links; I just get a screen saying 'No Character Found.' Is that intentional?
