Notes and Campaign discussion

Because of the nature of the ECR campaign, players will come across a lot of information. Use this thread to keep tabs on information gleamed so as to forget nothing or simply to discuss them in OOC format.

I'll leave this here as it might become important later...
Do not forget to use this thread guys, I've put it here for a reason. One of these days I'll stop making you roll INT checks! :P

Ok guys, we have sucked at this. We even got told directly not to suck at this. So i am gonna start back tracking and filling this in.

Darren finds a silver maple leaf pendant on a dead carpenter, whos name is Viktor Litmunova. We should tell his family that we found him. (we forgot to do that.)

Blunt and piercing damage are less effective against the zombies than holy energy and slashing.

I need to find a light mace or something for zombie bashing. V is all about the piercing.

Mace won't do much against zombies. You need slashing. Mace would work well against skeletons though.

Was there an edition of D&D where maces did both bludgeoning and slashing? No, I guess that was the morningstar, and it was bludg + piercing. Yeah, should pick up a mess o utility weapons.

Madam Eva's Divinations

The Plague: "The plague spreads. To stop it you will need to destroy its creator, but you can slow it by destroying a nearby abomination at the house of holiness... Hmm, it seems Strahd is the one who created this disease and the only way to stop it is to destroy him once and for all... a task easier said than done! However you can slow the spread of the plague. The cards speak of some powerful undead creature in a church, most likely the church of Barovia."

"Hard to cure but not impossible, the answers you seek are already within your grasp... Hmm, interesting, the cards are telling me you already have the means to cure this disease...I wonder why you came to me asking this question. Perhaps you are not aware you already possess such means?"

Strahd: "He who dwells in Castle Ravenloft is a powerful man whose enemy is light and whose powers are beyond mortality. You will seek him in the castle, and though he might find you many times, you will find him only once."

"You will find him where the three servants of Hell are slain, in the place of their gathering. Hmm... a spawn of hell has come to the top of one of the castle towers, and she is served by an unholy trio." She continues. "There is a very bad influence in this place. The power of death will strip away your protections."

"Out of the darkness and chaos, this card finds its reason and foundation, It shows the purpose of all things—the key to life and death and else beyond. The darkness seeks to consume all light, and death to devour all warmth from the living. It would seem that the lord of the castle seeks a lady, but he will consume her until death is all that remains."

Sunsword: "What you seek is a blade of light, a weapon of vengeance."

"Seek it in an old place, one near the setting sun that predates the evil that has come on this land. This card speaks of the past—an ancient past beyond that even of Count Strahd and his family. In the west there is a remnant of this past, west of the crossroads. Seek it there."

"The sword's light sleeps. To wake it, bring it into the heart of darkness. Take it to the home of the caste's lord, his source of life. You should seek the crypts in the deepest recesses of the castle."

Jeref Maurgen: "A young adventurous heart, but he has left a heart at home."

"Though love has died, it is by love's symbol that you will find him. It seems the man has died, however you should be able to identify his remains by his wedding ring."

"Something needs to be returned. It is a key that can open many doors. It would seem his wife is well connected. Bringing her back her husband's wedding ring would put you in very good standing with some merchants."

Orin's Goods: "Ill gotten gains and a dwarven greed."

"Seek stolen fortune at the camp of the travellers of the mists. It would seem this card speaks of people who can easily move about. People who have the ability to leave and enter the valley at will despite of the mist."

"It lays in a movable dwelling near moving water. This card speaks of some sort of dwelling, perhaps a tent or a wagon, something nomadic people use, which currently lies a body of water."

I'll add whatever else she says to this as we go...
OOC:
Edit: I'm adding a Strikethrough to the fortunes we've already done something about, and moving them to the bottom of the post. That way, it's not so confusing to look through.
Ashlyn's party: "Two impatient fools, too eager to prove themselves and rush headlong into danger."

"Headstrong and impetuous, no pleading could dissuade them. It would seem that people tried to warn them, perhaps suggested they come see me first..."

"This card will tell us of their fate. Dark and terrible, they have failed in their endeavors and now rest amid the soil's embrace. I am sorry, but your friends did not survive..."

Church Creature: "That creature is a cause of death, death which walks the street of Barovia. Death leads to death, all stemming from a first death."

"You must an end to the blasphemy of the death that refused to die, but that will not stop the plague. The lord of the castle is the source of it all. The cards speak of a powerful creature, anathema to life, which is created from the corpse of a relative... Whatever it is, Strahd had a hand in this!"

"To end the plague of death, you must end its source. The village church is desecrated by the first blasphemy. The castle is ruled by the greater one. Yes, it is exactly as I thought..."
OOC:
Game Master Edit: I went ahead and move the Holy symbol of Ravenkind entry at teh bottom and barred it then since you were not busy with RL when the party found it.
- Kal.
Holy Symbol of Ravenkind: "This symbol is a powerful force for good and protection against the forces of darkness"

"Seek it where the river flows into the land. This card speaks of elemental forces mingling together. The symbol should be in the marsh downriver from here..."

"The holiness in this item waits for hands of holiness to touch it once more, but that is not enough to bring its power back to life. You must place the symbol on the throne of an ancient king. Castle Ravenloft was once the seat of a kingdom..."

Qralloq says:
I need to find a light mace or something for zombie bashing. V is all about the piercing.
Durgrim brought extras: A light hammer, A throwing axe and a Dwarven Waraxe. The latter won't be much use without exotic weapon proficiency, but he'l lend out the former two if anyone needs 'em.

Werewolf Disease: "A disease? This is troubling... Let's see what the cards has to say about this..."

"A tragic tale of adventuring gone wrong. Be careful their fate does not become your own."

"Noble heroes to slavering beast have been reduced. Hmm... Three years ago these adventurers came to me but have not heeded my advices. Now they have become infected by the werewolves of the Svalich Woods pack and thus are hunted by the Svalich Wood werewolves."

"Hunted and sick, their hope for the future is bleak.

"The dying pack lairs where unholy pacts were made near the lost roads. This card seems to speak of ruins, the same one I told you about when you asked about the Sunsword. Interesting... But this only tells us of the werewolf pack, not the disease."

"An unnatural plague which has come from a hellish mind."

"It comes from a heart of timeless anger in hopes it will bring the key it seeks. Hmm, yes, a powerful creature has created this disease. It has been imprisoned for countless ages and now it desires freedom."

"The cure lies in the wolf's den, in the depth of the forest's tower. Past the burning prison will you find the cure you seek. The cards tell me you will have to go through a room which imprisons fiery creatures. It seems many things are imprisoned in this ruins. You should be careful pet. I find it odd that the cure was in the same place those sick werewolves laired, why would it be so close to them? Hmm, it is of no importance, go find your friends and tell them what the cards told me, and if you find the cure, please bring it here, I may be in need of it to help the Vistanis who were attacked."
