Battletech

Any Classic Battletech fans around? Maybe The Succession wars too?

I've played a very broken version in which we didn't know all the rules because they literally have rules for everything and that's just a F-ton of reading. It was fun though.

I used to play a ton of Battletech back in the mid-90s. We preferred pre-clan (3058?).

I am also a Pre-Clan fan. 3025 - 3026 is my favorite era. Anyone get into MechWarrior RPG? The Pen & Paper version, not the video game series.

I read through some stuff on the RPG. It looked really interesting, since I loved the mech-warrior strategy games.

I've wanted to play Battletech, but never did have the money to spend to get it for myself and none of my friends played. I loved the Mechwarrior video games. They were my first exposure to the world. I've read a few of the novels.

I got into the light weight rules, AlphaStrike, last year. I think I prefer Word of Blake forces. Played on occasion in the 90s. Played all the pc games. Never played the RPG.

Funny you mentioned Battletech, there's about 5 days left on the Battletech Bundle of Holding it that interests anyone...

I've been resisting because it's a game that I can see only one of my IRL players being interested in. I really should though. /bitesknuckle

Hey... Gamers Plane. What would the RPG be like without robust mech battles? Or could we handwave miniature combat enough?

Mechlab is an optional way to PbP, IIRC.

There is one open game for Battletech, but the GM appears to be inactive.

I played the pre-clan stuff too in the early 90s. Great stuff! Not sure the point of doing it without minis though...
