Chapter 3 - To Cholganna

Mar 24, 2021 12:52 pm
OOC:
Where we stand, You have safely cleared the Wheel, currently you have IT-3PO, powered off.

You also have the Data Core from the Message pod, as well as the Data chip that contains a download of it's data. Pergano had been perusing that earlier and discovered that towards the end of the data, things get a bit corrupted. No doubt a result of the pods age and time floating dead in space. It's possible that the original data could be extracted from the core by a skilled slicer.

The next 'goal' of the mission is to reach Cholganna and see if the Sa Nalaor and/or any of the crew survived the crash. Currently from the Data Chip, you have the most of the Sa Nalaor's flight path, but the astrogation data near the end is partially corrupted and based on decades-old astrogation data.

AD-hoc takes time to incorporate his newly aquired gear into his chassis. When he is done, he ask the rest of the crew, 'Should we activate our newest passenger? They may be able to provide relevant information.'
OOC:
not sure if the droid is just turned off, or needs repairs

Might be best, he might have some info or expertise that could help with our last bit of navigation needs

"By all means please do. Do you have the equipment to restore some of the corrupted data on the core?"

@Ken "How's the wound?"
OOC:
Did we have skills or equipment to heal Ken's wound from the fight?

OOC:
The droid is 'switched off' and does not appear to need repairs.

Yes, there is a Medical Bay on the ship. Room 11 on the map.
Mar 25, 2021 2:54 pm
'Let us see what IT-3PO has to say first, then I will attempt restoration of the data.' AD-hoc replies before turning the droid on.

Once they're safely away Ken climbs out of the gunnery turret and makes his way to the medbay. He digs out a medpac and takes a look at his wound, 'Could be worse.' Over the ship's internal coms he broadcasts, 'Anyone know how to use this medpac?'
OOC:
Ken has taken four wounds, anyone else can help him use the medpac which should be difficulty Easy (P) Medicine check with a boost die. If Ken tries to treat himself it is much harder (PPP) and he's rubbish at it anyway.

As AD-hoc switches on the Protocol droid, it's eyes light up and slowly looks around the Crew Lounge.

Well, this is not the welcome I expected after those ruffians attacked my escort. But I do believe that I recognize several of you from the descriptions that Reom sent us. I am, as I'm sure your aware, IT-3PO, I serve Reom and his sister at Isotech. I have joined your expedition in hopes of becoming re-acquainted with Captain Harsol and I do hope he has survived these many years, he and my previous master, Reom's father were good friends.

"Well, I wasn't paying much attention in class but I can at least help." Blih answers with a chuckle.
OOC:
Blih has only 2 Int and no skill in medicine atm (which is still better than to leave Ken doing it alone :P).

I have the option to make medicine a class skill if we need it for the group. Ad-Hoc or Jeswain may be better suited for it though

Pergano looks the droid up and down a little, What do you know about the ship we are after beyond the Captain?
Mar 28, 2021 8:00 pm
OOC:
If no one else is volunteering Ken will let Blih have a shot with the the Medpac. I think you also get 1 stimpack per scene as well, which Ken could use as no one else is hurt. You also get 1 wound per night's rest.

The ship, well, very little I suppose. I was never aboard it, but by all appearances it was a standard Munificent-class frigate. Captain Harsol was assigned to use it to guard a remote research station. At the end of the war, the Empire came to seize the station and it's personnel. Reom's father always believed the Captain would have evacuated everything of real value before trying to escape the Empire. Hopefully we will find the remains of the ship and possibly the crew when we arrive.
OOC:
Ken is correct, the Medicine check for someone else is Easy (P) plus his boost.
Mar 29, 2021 7:49 pm
Jeswain steps to the crew area. He walks to Ken and looks over the wounds. He's a bit hesitant as he has only received basic training in medicine, but senses the groups hesitation and will do what he can to help.
OOC:
2 Int with 1 skill in medicine - so not great, but how hard can it be?

Rolls

1 level of training in Med

1 Success, 1 Advantage, 2 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat

Mar 29, 2021 7:59 pm
AD_hoc say to Pergano 'Perhaps our guests role here is more chaperone than assistance.' He then turns to Blih, 'Please show me to the data core.'
OOC:
What's the computers check to see if there is anymore useful data on the core? Or is it too badly damaged to attempt?
Mar 29, 2021 10:09 pm
'Thank you for your help' winces Ken, as Jeswain uses the medpack to treat his wound. 'A bit more serious than I thought' he says.
OOC:
That's one wound healed, thanks Jeswain. Ken will hold off using the stimpack and see if he can get some natural healing in. I might reserve use of it if we jump straight into trouble!

OOC:
@AD-hoc - You need a Diagnostic check to see what's state it's in. That's an Easy (P) Computers check. If you fail, then it's "no idea what to do with it". If you have at least 1 success, then it's a Hard (PPP) computers check to Repair it.
Mar 30, 2021 3:07 am
The droid silently busies himself, first with a diagnostic check to see what they have to work with.

After that, he sets to work on repairs. 'I believe I have something.'

Rolls

Computer: Diagnostic

3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 1 Advantage

Computers: Repairing the data core

5 Success, 1 Triumph, 1 Failure, 3 Threat

Total: 4 Success, 3 Threat, 1 Triumph

Mar 30, 2021 3:26 am
OOC:
is this an example of the dice logic not counting the success in the triumph? Speaking of, I guess I'd like to use it to see how the ships previous path lines up with current astrogation data.
Mar 30, 2021 2:16 pm
OOC:
Yes, the dice roller doesn't add in the Triumph :(
AD-hoc successfully diagnoses that the message pod requires some repairs before unencrypting the data. He does an astounding job on the repair and decryption and has recovered all of the original Data. The Sa Nalaor appears to have traveled to the end of the Perlemian Trade route, dropped out of hyperspace to plot the jump to the Cholganna system. From the data, it appears they took damage just before jumping, presumably from the Imperials that were chasing them. The ship data shows they emerged from Hyperspace very close to a planet and then the message pod was launched.
OOC:
You have several choices on how to proceed, the obvious 2 are to make a direct jump from the Wheel system to Cholganna (that's the tough one) or to travel to the end of the Perlemian trade route and recreate the last leg of the jump to Cholganna using the Triumphantly recovered data.
Mar 30, 2021 3:38 pm
Good work Ad-hoc, hopefully now we can make our way to Cholganna with ease. Would you all be ok with trying to recreate Cholganna's last known jump?
