No, you need to reach tier 2 first to gain access to those abilities.

I'm going to use the 4 xp to train out of Emmett's inability with salvaging numenera. With his past as a scout/soldier, he was undoubtedly digging up all sorts of things and finding a way of putting them to use. He doesn't seem the creative sort, so he wouldn't touch that, but he seems the type to find just what a creative type would need.

So he's....neutral! I suppose sucking at something is the first step to being sort of good at something, so there's that!

What's the situation with people from Ninth World in space? I figured our group were one of the first to make it out of atmosphere in centuries, but "human spacers" makes it seem like it's fairly common. Would our group have heard of other people leaving the planet? Is it known that it's even an option?

It's entirely unheard of on the surface, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. You'll need to discover just how common that might be as we go.

When we were first discussing the premise of the game, I latched onto a Western personality for Emmett and it dug in. Does that bother anyone? Is it messing with your view of what the setting actually is? I just don't want it to mess with anyone else's game, if I can help it.

Though if noone is interested in Piloting i can grab that, but that seems to be Emmet's thing right now. Plus I would only ever take this one level in it.

Emmett can't train anything else since he's already trained for Tier 1. If you'd prefer to pilot, we can write it in so it makes sense, otherwise I'm happy to have Emmett fumble his way through it.

On that note. . What pool is Pilot?

I would think Speed. It requires hand/eye coordination, good reflexes, etc. If I were to pick what pool Han Solo relied on, I'd say speed.
