Let's all make difficulty 4 Perception checks. Indicate if you are Trained.

Lyle carefully looks around, hoping to spot something that will help the group.

Emmett looks around for a solution. "It doesn't look like this will be as easy as wreckin' the door on the way out. Any ideas?"
OOC:
Emmett uses a level of Effort for Perception. I assume Intellect?

The light isn't hazy or obscured, but just like natural light only oddly dim. Maybe the cave entrance to the left is very small?

Jaz intuits that instead the sun is just very small, maybe a tenth of the size it normally is in the sky. Around it, there are no clouds or blue sky, just black as if the sun shines in the night like the moon but smaller and brighter.

OOC:
Emmett would probably try to make it outside. Is the entry to this cavern far enough that he could slip out unnoticed by all the quintpods? And can we assume that unless otherwise mentioned, we aren't constantly having to see if we can breathe when we go from one place to another?
May 10, 2021 8:59 pm
OOC:
Can't tell you yet if Emmett would make it. You haven't seen the entrance yet, so you have no idea what obstacles might be in the way.

As to breathing, be sure that I'll tell you if you can't.

OOC:
Hm. I'm a little stuck on what to do next, so I'm just going to put some random thoughts out there.

We've got the gate on one side of us with a pile of what's likely half-eaten trash on the other. We're in a strange cavern that's dimly lit through an as-yet-unseen entrance and the other end of the cavern is filled with quintpods of varying size that would like to turn us into weird skin strips if they saw us. There are a lot of them, so we probably would become said strips.

We've come to shut down the gate by either disabling it, blocking the entry completely, or some other method we haven't discovered yet.

While I don't believe we've tried talking to the quints, it seems like a fool's errand and might get us killed. We could try to find something to help us in the pile of trash, though Emmett would be the worst choice to look for us. We've got the other device we found and it's possible to find a way to speak into it, but I don't know that we can, given we already all rolled on it.

Anyone have anything I've missed?
Stuck without any option that's immediately helpful, Emmett decides to look around. Trying to remain unseen, he creeps around the pile of wasted parts to find somewhere to go that isn't directly into the mandibles of quintpods.

"D'Jazyt, care to see what we can find in this rubble?" Lyle asks his friend. Taking a cue from Emmett, he carefully begins to search through the debris- all the while hoping to avoid detections from the walking nightmares at the far end of the cavern.
OOC:
I plan on searching through, in either case. Should I roll stealth as well, or are we far enough away from the Quintpods to easily avoid detection?
May 10, 2021 10:49 pm
OOC:
No quints visible to the PCs. But you're always free to roll Stealth preemptively.
May 10, 2021 10:55 pm
OOC:
Thanks! I may or may not have an asset? if Jaz and I help each other out but I'll get all the rolling out of the way.

Is there a way to sabotage the gate that doesn't leave us stuck on this side? Lol. I'm also unsure what to do here.

OOC:
I don't think we've found an easy solution yet, and we'll have to figure out what to do. The gate is in a cavern, so we might be able to find some way to cave the thing it. That, or find some way to destroy the gate, such as a timed explosive or something. Or maybe we find a convenient ally that wouldn't mind helping us out. Who knows, it's spaaaaaace! :D

"Not that it helps us... but it looks like the sun is either very far away, or much smaller than ours... Plus there is no sky... we may need the masks to breath if we go too far out. "
OOC:
Yeah. I'llassist in a search.
May 12, 2021 1:38 am
Well.... Turana has 2 cyphers that could help, 1 gas bomb with poison that damages intelligence, if the quintpods have any.. but the explotion might not be strong enough to collapse anything.. anyway if we can somehow. i have an instant shelter cypher that might protect us and the gate from collapse..

Sabotaging the gate on this side will require a difficulty 6 Intellect test at this point. Clever uses of a cypher could aid further, maybe. Exploring the area or searching the jump might reveal more clues.

Y'breq decides to search for some more clues or anything useful to aid in shutting down the gate without stranding them.

Did Emmett gain any knowledge from his scouting, or Lyle from his search?
