This is Philips current story line will be posting to it soon just getting it set up

The path to where Philip currently found himself had been long and arduous as well as ironic. He would at times think back upon the events that led him here. The actions to bring him closer to his love, had instead forced him far away without the ability to safely return or contact her. Was it a dark destiny, an ill fated venture, or just a series of unfortunate events. It was impossible to tell for sure. Still here he was in Far Reach within Southbridge village. The experience of becoming a member of the city had been most unsettling but he got through it. Then came the need to further his studies as well as gain a measure of protection in case he was ever recognized and bounty hunters or worse assassins were sent to finish what had been almost completed once before. To this end he joined the Order of Mages and began doing mundane magic and assisted with magical experiments being conducted by others while working on projects of his own in his free time.

There was a knock on the door to Philip's rooms, another fairly phenomenal aspect of this seemingly normal wooden appearing tower inn. The dimensional magic that was used to create the place's interior was fairly impressive. The primary wizard responsible for this place he had not met but considering the fact that he was a fairly insignificant mage that did not surprise him all that much. Still he could help but hope some day that he might get that chance, but hopefully on good terms. Till then it was just a day after day venture of fairly simple tasks.

Sighing Philip walks over to the door to open it, then he pauses, summons his Spellbook to his hand, and opens the door, after all you never can be too careful when your life is in danger.
What do you need? he asks a hint of annoyance in his tone

Initially he sees no one then the Raven's voice draws his attention downward, "Kumo wants to see you in office." It then flies down the hallway to this wings portal and disappears into it. Kumo's familiar fetching him once again which means a new task.

Once Philip is ready (please describe what you do) he heads to this wings portal which takes him to the central portal chamber were a myriad of portals align the circular wall and he heads to the one that will lead him to Kumo's office. Arriving at the door he is greeted by Lippet who allows him passage through the door, where within Kumo is sitting by a magical fireplace reading a book and smoking a pipe. Upon Philip's entry he gestures with his pipe to the chair next to him. "How are things going Philip?"

(Philip gives a quick thumbs up though he knows the familiar won't care and heads back over to his desk rifles through his papers and books then decides to grab his Quarterstaff, 210 sheets of parchment, Magnifying Glass, 2 Potion of Healing, 1 Books of lore, bottle of ink, small knife, Holy Symbol to Moradin, A magical orb (3" dia) that contains swirling colors, (1) A tome on how to make a doll golem. (2) A tome on dream spheres (incomplete), Acid vial
He downs a Flask of water and heads to the office.

I'm doing well i think I might have been on the virge of discovering something, but I suppose my work can wait, why did you Send your Crow for me

OOC:
Not the room you have is secure are you sure you are going to bring all of that with you I mean especially the Tome on Doll Golems and Dream Spheres as neither of those are something you can use on an adventure and are best to be studied and used within ones room.
"I have a something I would like you to investigate, apparently there is a circle of stones to the southeast within that small copse of trees that still remain that has just recently been unearthed by another group. It appears to be fairly unusual and I want a bit more details on it. I have some excellent drawings upon it but I want to know what it is made of and if there is anything else about it that a drawing cannot convey. This," a scroll seems to float over to Philip, "is for you. Learn it as you may need it for this and future endeavors." From the comments, Philip can infer that it must be a spell scroll of some sort as it also looks to be of that type. "Do you have any questions?"
May 10, 2021 2:07 pm
Why Investigate this what are you hoping to find?
as he listens to the answer he examines the scroll
Philip prefers to study but has found that when he does what he wants he ends up in trouble so for now he's listening to Kumo
suddenly while he's looking at the scroll another question hits him and he looks up at Kumo,
Is it Dwarven?
May 10, 2021 7:42 pm
"Why investigate anything, of course to learn more about it. What we are expecting you to find is more information to add to the information we already have. Is it Dwarven, highly doubtful as the runes that were copied appear to be an ancient version of Draconic which Dwarves are not known to use in their constructions. Still it seems rather small for it to have been created by dragons themselves. So it is a bit of a perplexity."
May 11, 2021 12:46 am
Kumo, I will set of in three hours I thank you for calling me to complete this Investigation. Philip will leave the room head up to his desk and study the scroll.
OOC:
Is Philip able to copy this Into his Spellbook Using materials provided in this building!
May 11, 2021 7:15 am
"Be thorough, take your time, we are in no rush."

Upon arriving back at his room Philip finds a small package outside his door. Taking it into the room he finds it contains the ink that he needs to copy the spell into his book. Looking the scroll over he finds it to be a Detect Magic spell.
May 11, 2021 10:28 am
Philip will take his time copying the spell 40 min with the quill and then take a quick browse through his books for anything mentioning this stone circle. He will also take some time to glance over any other information Kumo had about the circle finally once he thinks he knows what he's getting into Philip will start the trek towards the circle.
OOC:
Is detect magic one of your hombrewed spells?
May 21, 2021 12:32 am
The trek is probably one of the longer ones that he has made since coming to Southbridge village as he has to go out the south gate and then head east until he has walked a short distance past the garrison fort that extends out off the east side of the village. Upon arriving it does not take him long to locate the site as the recent piles of raw earth and woodland debris make for an easy indicator of where it stands. Of course he can see that the excavation of the site had been less than professional as much of it is still covered in dirt and a good rain storm, which the plateau gets periodically, will most like bury much of it again. Still lucky enough he does have a spell for that as he can conjure an unseen servant to get started on that while he goes to work on cleaning up and investigating the actual large stone... octagon with its eight short pillars.
OOC:
I think I answered this but no Detect Magic does not appear in the 1st-Level list of adjusted or clarified spells which are in alphabetical order for easier look up.
May 21, 2021 12:48 am
after casting Unseen Servant
Philip will investigate the stone looking for several particular things as he does so, Runes, Doors, and Devine powers. Then walking around the circle tracing an outline around the Stone using it as somewhat of a channel for his magic and Casting Detect Magic as a Ritual

OOC:
Regular searching comes before ritual.

OOC:
Okay you did not indicate you did so but I thought I had outlined it that prior to you getting started with your investigation it might be a good idea to cast Unseen Servant as that spell lasts an hour and does not require concentration thus it can be working while you are investigating. If you decide to do so please edit your previous post otherwise you can leave it as is. Note it will take several castings of Unseen Servant to fully clear the area so that it will not be covered during the next rain storm.
Examining the dirty stones is not the easiest of things to do but some of the runes have been cleared somewhat of dirt there appear to be eight symbols adorning each of the pillars arranged in a vertical column on all eight of its sides. The arrangement of these eight symbols is the same on all eight sides but they differ slightly from pillar to pillar such that no pattern is the same on any of the eight individual pillars. Further there seems to be a large rune inset into the flat surface of the some 20 foot across octagonal stone upon which the pillars are attached to. All the symbols appear to be draconic in nature but not a dialect that Philip has seen before. He sees no real divine indicators although does remember that eight is a number favored by chaos but then again it is used in non-chaotic magic as well. The entire stone configuration seems to minutely glow with magic.
May 21, 2021 11:04 pm
After digging deeper into the functionality of the magic on the stones he will begin reading from his book over and over again a set of words even he doesn't fully understand as he paces the around the large octagonal stone waiting for the letters to begin to make sense to him.

The magical aura pervading the entire object seems to be of a deep translucent blue indicating the Conjuration School and once Philip actually begins touching the various surfaces and getting the translations, the the large symbol etched into the flat floor surface reinforces what his Detect Magic spell had revealed in that it is interpreted to read "Portal" the other symbols strangely do not translate. It is as if whatever they represent is either untranslatable or that they simply have no meaning beyond the basic symbol that they appear to be. Philip has never encountered something a Comprehend Language spell could not translate so it is most likely the latter which then does not make it clear what these other 8 symbols are for. However, he is pretty sure they have some use or purpose.

When examining the short octagonal pillars he does notice that each one has an octagonal depression upon its flat topped surface which is about 3 inches in diameter and about an inch deep. Further the stone resembles the stone that the Keep and the great bridge are made of.
May 25, 2021 11:49 am
Conjuration magic Philip muses as he examines the holes in the top of the pillars, suddenly a random thought comes to him he reaches down into his pack and pulls out the Orb placing down in one of these depressions he watches the whole area for any visible signs of magic and looks to the orb to see if there is any effect on it.

Perception - (1d20+4)

(3) + 4 = 7

May 25, 2021 10:44 pm
While the orb does seem to rest nicely atop the pillar as it rests partially within the depression nothing seems to occur either with the orb or any of the structure he has been investigating.

It's either or summon something or to get somewhere, Chaos, Summoning, Portal, and the symbols I can't understand, Summoning or traveling to a plane of Chaos, but what planes fit this discription
Philip sits down And tries his best to think of all the planes aligned with chaos.

Rolls

Arcana - (1d20+6)

(7) + 6 = 13

May 27, 2021 7:26 am
OOC:
The Outer Planes is a Religion check not an Arcana check I have defined more clearly what each knowledge skill covers within the House Rules if you are curious
Philip ponders the planes of Chaos for while and remembers the names but not much beyond that, he would have to spend time in the library to look them all up. Still there is the Abyss, Arborea, Drelmadna, Limbo, Pandemonia, Xiclotl, Ysgard, and Yuggoth and if he did not miss any that means eight of them.
