Free of the wines, Marié collects her crossbow and load it with a bolt. She is going instrument hunting. When whey find the elf, her first shot will be at his instrument.

Scrol says:
OOC:
Rolen casts "Detect Magic"
OOC:
Rolen detects no magic, yet, within 30' of himself (you guys are a bit over 60' away from the out-building).
The elf hollers back, as a heavy fog begins to roll in obscuring much of the building, "You are not welcome here, Interlopers! Our spirits are finally free! Be gone from this place!"

The half-elven lass sinks backwards into the fog which seems centered on the out building and makes it impossible to see what's going on more than a few feet inside the unnatural mist. You can see the shadowy outline of the building as it is illuminated from within by the lights inside which cast an eerie orange glow that dances as shapes move across it.

A woman's voice drifts out, mournful but beautiful, from the fog as you all(?) approach.

Now on the barren heath they lie,
Their funeral dirge; the eagle's cry,
And mountain breezes o'er them sigh,
What fought and died for nothing...

Marabi sees the elf shouting back? Singing back? Casting a spell? All Marabi knows is that his mouth is moving before he is obscured by the fog.

Magic is a force in Faerun, Marabi knows that it exists and that it can do many marvellous things - but beyond that, it's a mystery.

What was it her father said? All wizards have a plan until they get smacked in the mouth. Until she thinks of something better, that'll have to fill in for wisdom.

Marabi is engulfed by the fog as she tentatively walks slowly forward.

Left foot forward...right to left... left foot forward... right to left...

It's a sort of a sideways shuffle as she lifts the sword from her shoulder, both hands on the grip. She hopes that she remembers to use the flat side of it.

Marié taps her baret and it fills her ears with farting notices. She takes a discarded cloak, properly one of the wedding guests, and with a few sticks, she crafts a light scarecrow figure. Using a spectral (mage) hand to lift the person-shaped contraption, she let it take point in their small procession into the mist.

OOC:
For reference, rune, unless Marié is constantly using the noise-maker - which would I think mean, using her action if this goes to initiative to do so (which is to say, I don't see how she could attack, for example, and protect herself from sounds in this way at the same time) - I don't see that as being adequate to protect her from any potential sound-based magic. And if she's using her action to move the mage hand, that would make the two things incompatible too.

Scrol, Grant, and LightOfMidnight, are you all moving into the fog/building too?

I think it's flavoured "Magical Tinkering" (1st-level artificer feature)

You’ve learned how to invest a spark of magic into mundane objects. To use this ability, you must have thieves’ tools or artisan’s tools in hand. You then touch a Tiny nonmagical object as an action and give it one of the following magical properties of your choice:

...
The object continuously emits your choice of an odor or a nonverbal sound (wind, waves, chirping, or the like). The chosen phenomenon is perceivable up to 10 feet away.
...
The chosen property lasts indefinitely. As an action, you can touch the object and end the property early.
Does a continuous farting noise (that can be heard 10' away) by your ear drown out the sound of music? You know what? I'm glad I'm not the DM who has to test that.

Ah! Thanks for the insight, Adam. I had missed that. Ok... it will likely do something, yes.
May 10, 2021 7:23 pm
Erm... guys...or girls... eh whatever there's a magical thingy on the ground. Ah circle... that fog isn't norm... Rolen begins to tell his friends but they just walk right into the fog.
Struggling with wether to stay back or follow them he decides to follow the sound of Marie's farting baret
Oh dear this is going to cost our lifes... he murmurs while shaking his head

OOC:
Grant was attacking the plant, but I never did get a response on that.
May 10, 2021 11:18 pm
OOC:
The plants had went away on their own, Gene, before you had even posted that Grant was trying to chop them down.
May 10, 2021 11:40 pm
Okay then Grant would be following Marabi forward to the fog. He would have a hand upon her shoulder so as not to get lost.
May 11, 2021 12:03 am
As the group ventures into the wispy arms of the fog, those who can hear (Rolen, Grant) begin to hear sounds of weeping, and laughing, and... perhaps violent scuffles?

And as each of you enter into the lighted interior of the building, you can barely make out through the fog that at least half of the conscious contingent of the wedding party appear to be fighting each other - grappling and taking wild swings at each other, and the other half are watching this and either weeping at the sight of it, or laughing at it as if it were some great bit of entertainment.

The elven pipe-player is not immediately visible, nor is the lass. Though a voice can still be heard above the din...

No more we'll see such deeds again,
Deserted is each highland glen,
And ye lonely cairns are o'er the men,
What fought and died for nothing
OOC:
In case we need it, please roll for initiative, if/as your PC enters the out-building.

However, your actions in the building will likely determine whether your specific PC will need to "use"/enter initiative... if that makes sense.

Also, everyone, except Marié, needs to give me a Wisdom save, DC13. Marabi has advantage.

Rolls

Stealth

Initiative

INIT and WILL DC(13) ... Okay INIT and saved on WIS attack. A Perception for the sing/music maker. Grant is a touch blind & deaf.

Marabi stubbles into the fog. The mournful rhyme tugs at a loose thread in her soul. It speaks to the emptiness of war, but also to duty and forgotten history.

It's as though the music was already within her - generations of warriors singing their songs of loss across time. And the elf has found their melody.

Her long-dead ancestors add their own song to harmonise with the elf's.

Thou art forgotten,
Thou art the dead,
We be thine blood,
In Narfell 't'was shed.

Thargaun's iron right arm,
He commandeth and we reap,
Slaying all 'til slain ourselves,
Unrememberèd we sleep.

They say the Reghed barbarians have a hundred words for snow. But does anybody care what snow call itself?

There are many songs written about warriors, but long-dead warriors from the beginning of time know only one. The words and the tune might change, but they're all just cover versions of the Song of Futility.

The Tomb of the Unknown Warrior? On a long enough timescale, all warriors are unknown - only kings are remembered. That's why there's no Tomb of the Unknown King.

The bards have a hundred songs about kings. But does anybody care about their dead warriors' song?
OOC:
This is the bit where I have no earthly idea what I'm doing, but give it a go anyway.

Theme is forgotten warriors who fought futile battles, right?

Marié is moving har target dummy through the fog, hoping that a sudden attack would target that instead of her or her friends.
OOC:
thx Adam for clarifying the artificer feature.

OOC:
Scrol, I'll still need a Wisdom save and Initiative from Rolen, plz!

But I'm gonna advance the scene under the assumption that Rolen is following the others in.

For the moment, I'll have Enise remain outside the out-building, "watching your backs".
As you all move into the building, and draw near it's brawling occupants - whether to try to engage them, break them up, or move thru them - with no attempt to hide, you all clearly begin to draw their attention and many of the combatants break off of their current engagement, to come at each of you!
OOC:
I'm gonna go ahead and take their turns, as everyone but Marié lost to them (see below).
[ +- ] NPC Initiative

Exhausted and drunken wedding party and guests swarm upon you!
OOC:
Looks like Grant perhaps got hit for 2 damage!

Everyone can go! And, rune, I'll take their turn against you just sometime here after Marié has went.

Rolls

Attack on Marabi, Disadvantage - (1d20+2, 1d20+2, 1d3)

1d20+2 : (15) + 2 = 17

1d20+2 : (2) + 2 = 4

1d3 : (3) = 3

Attack on Grant, Disadvantage - (1d20+2, 1d20+2, 1d3)

1d20+2 : (17) + 2 = 19

1d20+2 : (19) + 2 = 21

1d3 : (2) = 2

Attack on Rolen, Disadvantage - (1d20+2, 1d20+2, 1d3)

1d20+2 : (12) + 2 = 14

1d20+2 : (9) + 2 = 11

1d3 : (3) = 3

May 11, 2021 7:43 pm
Rolen trots in after all the others.

As he sees the wedding guests coming at him he tries to duck away from there hits and runs straight past them.
OOC:
Sry for the delay

Rolen will take the disadvantage action and rush past the wedding guests.

Does he see anything with detect magic?

Rolls

Wisdom saving throw - (1d20+3)

(4) + 3 = 7

Init - (1d20+2)

(12) + 2 = 14

OOC:
No problem, Scrol, no delay. Things can get clunky with initiative, so I'm just trying to anticipate/be efficient and keep things moving. If I'm pushing the pace too much, gang - making assumptions that run counter to what you would generally want to do, plz be frank in telling me so. And I will lay off.

Also, looks like Rolen beat the NPCs in initiative, so he can just move through the fog, before even being attacked!

However, if he's talking the Dash Action (double move) I am gonna need a Dex save, DC11, with Disadvantage due to the heavily obscured vision of the fog, to avoid tripping on one of the bodies - either conscious or not - that litter the building floor.

Grant yells to the party, These people are charmed. Try not to kill anyone. Grant goes around the partier that struck him looking for the source of the problem.

Grant is on the other side of the partier but never left his 5' threatened area. So Grant is now 10' further in the room. Grant is on Dodge.
May 11, 2021 11:00 pm
The fog is thick inside of the building, Grant (nor anyone else) isn't able to see much beyond arms length.
